  1. I sent 11Alive an email about why Randy Waters didn't do a Braves score/highlights segment and here is what I got back -- It's nice to get good responsed back from TV stations sometimes!!!!

No, that is not the case. They completely changed the format on me for this morning show. My "sports" report is at 5:20....and if the Braves play I always, always give the score and highlights. I do a very short story at about 5:38, which is not usually Braves, Falcons, etc. If you happen to miss the 5:20 report, I can see where you think we're not reporting on the Braves.

Thanks so much for your comments. I don't like the format much either and perhaps emails like yours can help me get it changed.

    >Message: Hi! My hubby gets up at 5:15 every morning for work. He eats breakfast and watched 11Alive from 5:25 -- 5:40 every morning. We would like to know why Randy Waters NEVER give the Braves highlights/scores when he does his report. Does he hate the Braves?

  2. Why should the wedding ring be worn on the fourth finger?

There is a beautiful and convincing explanation given by the Chinese.....

    Thumb represents your Parents

Second (Index) finger represents your Siblings

    Middle finger represents your-Self

Fourth (Ring) finger represents your Life Partner

& the Last (Little) finger represents your children

Firstly, open your palms (face to face), bend the middle fingers and hold them together - back to back

Secondly, open and hold the remaining three fingers and the thumb - tip to tip

(As shown in the figure below):

Now, try to separate your thumbs (representing the parents)..., they will open, because your parents are not destined to live with you lifelong, and have to leave you sooner or later.

Please join your thumbs as before and separate your Index fingers (representing siblings)...., they will also open, because your brothers and sisters will have their own families and will have to lead their own separate lives.

Now join the Index fingers and separate your Little fingers (representing your children)...., they will open too, because the children also will get married and settle down on their own some day.

Finally, join your Little fingers, and try to separate your Ring fingers (representing your spouse).

You will be surprised to see that you just CANNOT....., because Husband & Wife have to remain together all their lives - through thick and thin!!

    Please try this out.............

"I KISSED MY SON GOOD-BYE" LYRICS

Written and performed by: Sandy Soffe

In the world of make believe,

    where good reigns over evil,

I watched my son play soldier

    fighting villains and crime.

I remember every time he would take a stand

all those bad guys never had a chance.

With a salute, and a smile he'd say to me

"Mom when I get older and grow up really tall,

I want to be a soldier most of all.

    I prayed

    CHORUS

Lord, I kissed my son goodbye today.

I couldn't let him see me cry.

He thought I had something in my eye.

He looked so strong and brave

as he climbed up on the school bus,

he turned back to look at us

with a salute, a smile, then a wave.

Oh please don't let him be afraid

My son's all grown up now.

There is no more make believe

Life and all it brings is far too real

He's learned the price of peace

doesn't come easily and he says he has

to take a stand, to help bring peace

    throughout our land.

    CHORUS

Lord, I kissed my son goodbye today.

I couldn't let him see me cry.

He thought I had something in my eye.

He looked so strong and brave

as he climbed up on the bus,

he turned back to look at us

with a salute, a smile, then a wave.

Oh please don't let him be afraid

Lord, I kissed my son goodbye today.

    He's still my little soldier.

    Keep him safe from harm

and please don't let him be afraid.

Please, don't let him be afraid.

  7. My dad is a Cobb County officer, formerly on the motors unit...they're everywhere, I swear! lol. I would have posted one of him, but they're hard to come by. I WISH I had a pic of my brother in uniform, but no, just that one. *sigh*

Shai here is one of your Bro!!!!

  8. I hope not!!! We went to the free movie at MOVIES 278 and the worker and kids were late to the movie so they couldn't set together. The lady let kids set in what seats were open. Two little girls around 5-6 were setting next to us -- well 1/2 way thru the movie they started doing the I GOTT PEE JIG -- well I wasn't about to take them to the potty because #1 they weren't my responsibility and #2 what if someone saw me and thought I was kidnapping them -- So me and my friends proceded to ask them what day care they were from and one said "the church where you can take your own lunch" I thought that was cute! They continued their "jig" so I went to the manager and said you might want to take them or find their chaperone -- Somehow they found her cause she brought them back from the potty break (I know her first name but will not post it here) Well when the worker came back to get them at the end of the movie I said "What church do you work for?" and she said "Dallas Christian Center" and I said well I will make sure I don't send my child there." She got ugly with me and said "You have no right to get in my business." I said "You have to right to leave someone else's children alone in a huge dark theater alone either" She mouthes something else and I said "Well now I will report you" and she said "Go ahead" and stormed off. So, if you or someone you know has a child there I would think twice about -- It makes me angry but sad more than anything -- Parents drop their kids off thinking they are going to be well taken care of and they aren't! I am soooooo glad I can be a SAHM!!!! I love my hubby everyday for giving me that opportunity!!!!!!!

Chastain Road Exit Ramp on I-75 Northbound Closed this Weekend

CARTERSVILLE, GA – The Georgia Department of Transportation is advising motorists in Northwest Georgia of the closure of the Chastain Road exit ramp on I-75 Northbound, scheduled for the weekend. The northbound exit ramp at Chastain Road (Exit 271) will be closed from 8 p.m. on Friday, July 27 until 5 a. m. on Monday, July 30, to accommodate paving work on the ramp. This construction work and the resulting ramp closure are weather permitting and subject to change.

“While this work may cause the public some inconvenience and delay, it is vital for the repaving the ramp as quickly as possible; improving the flow of traffic on both I-75 and Chastain Road; making it safer; and helping the public get where it needs to go in Northwest Georgia,” said Dr. Mohamed Arafa, communications officer at the Georgia DOT office in Cartersville.

“Thanking them for their patience, the Georgia DOT would like to assure motorists in Northwest Georgia that it has made every effort to minimize the impact this construction work has on the heavy traffic on I-75,” Arafa explained. “Working in phases, working on the weekends and at night; scheduling lane closures for the non-peak hours; and informing the public in advance of any traffic interruption are only a few examples of these efforts,” he added.

This road work is part of an 8.9-mile project of concrete paving on I-75 in Cobb Cherokee and Bartow counties, beginning at Barrett Parkway and extending to Glade Road. This project has been under construction since September 2006, and is expected to be completed by the end of April 2009, at a construction cost of little over $81 million.

The Georgia DOT seeks to provide information to the traveling public about traffic interruptions on Georgia’s interstates and state routes. Drivers are encouraged to use the services provided at Georgia DOT’s Transportation Management Center by calling (404) 635-6800. Operators are on duty 24/7 to provide traffic information, answer questions, and alert motorists to any traffic interruptions that may occur. Motorists can also check our website at www.georgia-navigator.com for construction alerts, accidents and other traffic interruptions.
