I guard mine like cash to but cards are so much easier to loose. You are talking about a store card. I am talking about a gift card for a large amount from a bank. I had the recovery no. but it took for ever . I stay away from cards now.I only buy gifts.If they don't like it, it can be returned for something they like. It doesn't hurt my feelings as long as they get what they like or need. I would like to add that the bank during this time did every thing they could to help and was great.

I used to think gift cards were great but take my word for it if it gets lost. You will have a heck of time getting it replaced. It took me a whole year to get one of mine replaced. I did how ever give the full amount at the time to the person the gift was for.
