  1. I guess the Sheriff has decided to quit patrolling 61 between 278 and Scoggins. I left for work Thursday morning at 7:20PM. In front of the high school, in the turn lane there was a large brown dog that had been hit and killed. I came home at 6:00PM and the dog was still there. Friday morning in the same spot the dog was scattered all over the road. I should have called the Sheriff but I figured a patrol deputy would take care of it. my bad
  2. Actually there is a new law that require the Assessor use ALL sales including Short Sales, foreclosures etc. Senate Bill (SB346) 346 signed into law by Perdue 6-4-2010
  3. I agree that if you are satisfied with your assessment, the form is not necessary. Looking back at the past year and the fact that the county elected to INCREASE assessments, who would not want to file?
  4. From the DOR Website. Georgia Department of Revenue Local Government Services Division Taxpayer'sReturn of Real Property Form: PT-50R Who Should File: Residents and non-residents that own real property in Georgia. 5. I don't understand WHY folks want to make comments like "That is not True!" I had never heard about this form either. When I appealed last year, the BOE chairman told me it was required and in fact GAVE me a copy at the hearing. When times were good, the form was not necessary because everyone thought WOW the County says my house and property is worth big bucks. For some that was true and it helped when the market was good. Now that the bottom has fallen out the county is hurting financially and they are trying to collect as much in Property Taxes as possible. In my subdivision 12 people
  6. Every property owner is required to file this form. I believe they must be filed with the Assessors Office by 3-1-2010. If you do not file this form you will lose your right to appeal. The form is available online or at the Assessors Office. https://etax.dor.ga.gov/ptd/adm/forms/pt50r/index.aspx
  7. Only about 10 of the 87 homeowners in our sub appealed, so far it looks as though values have gone down for everyone that appealed, 15 to 20 thousand dollars. Its a shame that the other 77 folks WILL PAY higher assessments. I have talked to Randy Travis from FOX 5 and if everyone will email your stories to me I will make sure he gets them.
  8. I'm gonna buy a plywood cabin in the Montana wilderness!!!!
  9. Does anyone have any experience filing a "Uniformity Appeal". The form the county uses has "Fair Market" or "Uniformity" as grounds for Appeal!
  10. Reassessment letters in the mail on Saturday. A few neighbors have gotten their reassessments. Before appeal: $127,300 After appeal: $108,545 Before appeal: $137,000 After appeal: $116,000 Before appeal: $131,500 After appeal: $110,075 Before appeal: $121,000 After appeal: $107,000 Before appeal: $134,500 After appeal: $131,400 - ME Before appeal: $128,900 After appeal: $114,000 There are some winners out there.
  11. I have 5 Family members flying into Atlanta in September. All three of my vehicles can only handle 5 passengers. I'll need to take two cars or find a shuttle from Dallas to Hartsfield. All the mini-vans at the car rental places are rented or over $100.00 I don't love my in-laws that much!!!!!! Does anyone know of a local shuttle service?
  12. New York Strips, Baked potato and shrimp scampi over penne.

  14. TODAY is the deadline. July 30, 2009 at 5:00PM
  15. Winchester, on my appeal form the BOE is the first appeal and superior court is the final on my assessment, NOT taxes! The Paulding County Board of Equalization, appointed by the Grand Jury, is the body charged by law with hearing and adjudicating administrative appeals of property values and assessments set by the Board of Tax Assessors. (Note: An arbitration method of appeal is available to the taxpayer in lieu of an appeal to the Board of Equalization at the option of the taxpayer at the time the appeal is filed.)
  16. If you intend on challenging your Property Assessments, the Deadline is 7-30-09 at 5:00PM. I filed my appeal June 24th and have not heard when the hearing before the BOE will take place!
  17. If any other professional gets a conviction, chances are they will not be able to work in their respective field, why should vic be different.
  18. Pack up the babies, grab the old ladies and get the dogs inside!
  19. Last year the county increased the land value on our property. The land value went from 24,000 to 30,000 for all the lots (87) in our area. This year they left the lot value the same but increased the building value. I am curious as to other area's. On the recent Assessment Notice we all received this is not broken down. The only way to find this out is to call or go down to the assessors office and use their computer to look it up. The ON-LINE Assessors Web Site has been shut down, I wonder why?
  20. Not yet, do they have the GOOD stuff?
