  1. "Raising animals" does not have to include inhumane treatment. Nothing living should have to suffer in such ways. Luckily there are other options today, even though there are those who refuse to use them.
  2. LLF, I'm afraid that the floor might be the problem, not the height....is may be too slippery. Santa would be willing to meet her outside the pavilion on the grass I bet!
  3. A Big "Thank You" back to you and all those who are involved. The Paulding Humane Society and many other needy shelters and unwanted pets appreciate these efforts and look forward to a highly successful event!
  4. Garnet, we obviously don't agree on a LOT of things. Paulding County is not the "City". It is also thankfully not South Georgia or other closer areas here or people who still believe shooting ANY stray is the thing to do.
  5. There are only 2 ROAD OFFICERS on duty each day. There are 11 employees of Animal Control, but that is still way too few. Yes, I remember and know that you know well the situations handled daily. You may not be aware though that Animal Control is in no way, shape or form, related to the Marshall's Office as they were many years ago. They are not the authority on these situations. Garnet, it takes a little longer for a stray dog to go "wild!" Several days just won't do it. There are packs of wild dogs, but your average stray is not one of them. Fire awa
  6. holden - with over 700 - 800 calls each month (879 in July) and three lines ringing at almost any hour of the day (and night) there was a great invention discovered. It's called an answering machine. All calls are returned IF the three lines happen to be tied up OR if as most days, there are 20 people waiting in the front lobby to turn in their pet and that answering machine comes into play. As far as "showing up" . . . EVERY call, over 20 - 30 a day most times, is answered. I'm not sure of your situation, but IF a pet is not at the premises when the officer arrives, they are not
  7. Probably poor Mr. Austin, trying to run some squirrels out of his pecan trees! A passerby saw a gun and freaked? Times have sure changed. (I know that makes me old by even thinking to make that statement.)
  8. Update from the shelter ~ It is unknown as to the specific cause of injury to the llama. The caller "thought" it might be shot when seeing a wound, but it is up and running around (and refused to be caught.) It doesn't appear to be a life-threatening injury. Good news!
  9. My bus driver in Jr. High School. We all loved him. I'm very sorry to hear this.
  10. I'm very sorry for your loss, lowest ranger. Grandparents are very special people and leave us with some wonderful memories.

  16. The following was posted today by Pointyhead: I found out that my brother-in-law's wife's 89-year old grandfather fell while working is his shop, hit his head, and went unconscience. He was unresponsive when they found him, and essentially couldn't revive him. He officially died later at the hospital, after being taken off life support. His name is T.C. Walraven and his body is at Benson's if anyone wants to go by there. The viewing is from 4-8 tonight with the funeral tomorrow at 2 pm. I recently posted about Mr. Walraven. When passing by one day, there he sat at the car lot
