  1. I'm not sure about whether people understand what a "public place" is. A place that is open to the public for the purpose of commerce is still private property and the store can set its own rules and policies. A person has a right to carry a firearm concealed, as long as he has a permit. If people see it, then it's obviously not concealed and the store has the right to ask you to leave or to leave the weapon in your vehicle.
  2. I think that the idea here is that a king isn't just above the law, he IS the law. What is outrageous is that in the face of all of this shame, is he's doubling-down on positioning himself above and everyone else is below. In contrast, the Christ figure rode into town on a donkey. No religious leader should orchestrate his own exhaltation.
  3. Isn't that standard procedure for civil cases - try to settle them in mediation to take the burden off the courts?
  4. A national men's wear store with a ceo-oldguyspokesperson advertises tux rentals for $49.99. It's a lie. Because you can't get them for that. It's just a line to get you in the store. The commercial that advertises 49.99 shows a three button tux as the ceo-spokesoldguy delivers his pitch. You can't get the one that is shown for the price that is quoted in the commercial. That's just wrong. What can you get for that price? A POC tux with a POC bow tie. AND you have to join the club that lets other companies market to you. And it doesn't include shoes and it doesn't include the incidental charge
  5. Having had a recent diagnosis of malignant skin cancer, caused by tanning beds and direct sun exposure, I was shocked to see people here touting the benefits of tanning beds, with regard to health. The doctors told me that tanning beds were the WORST thing for me! Here's a snippet of an article on the subject, with a link to the full article that came up on the subject. ["Sept. 18, 2008 -- Health experts are fighting back against an aggressive campaign by the tanning industry to portray sunbathing and the use of indoor tanning beds as not only safe, but good for you. In a series of pap
  6. I prefer family/locally owned businesses. And I support my neighbors, instead of the big CEOs of major corporations. Sure, you have to go to chain locations sometimes, but given the choice, I'll support the little guy. What I don't get is why people will sometimes pay MORE to go to a chain store! With their main goal being customer turnover instead of customer service, chains (in some areas of business) deliver an inferior product. So is it laziness or apathy for our neighbors? We just don't bother to check out the fledgling enterprises? I say, it's time to break the chains! Go t
