  1. 17 months has past since Kennesaw Police Cadet Tara Drummond was shot and killed in a firearms training exercise. The Paulding and Cobb Comunities have been outstanding in their support ofr constructing a new Park on the Silver Comet Trail in her honor. The BOC, specifically Jerry Shearin, have been so supportive and consistent with their efforts to make this park a reality.

If there were an award for honor and integrity in work efforts, it would go to Paulding Parks & Recreation Director, Michael Justus. He has been on top of the construction plan and has been there at the site, sometimes late in the evenings, to make decisions that have kept progress going forward. Superman would give him his cape if he were here. Thank You. Michael.

The rest room on the Trail is complete, the stone sitting wals are complete, the main fountain is in place, and the brick entry way has been installed. There are 139 engraved bricks in the entery way with memories of past pets and remembered loved ones. In the center of the entry in line with the fountain, are the nems of the 10 Law Enforcement Officers that lost their lives in 2005 in Georgia.

During the weekends, there are too many people passing through the Park area to count. They travel the Trail by walking, with pets, on bikes, and with strollers. If you haven't been to the Park, please drive by and see what's going on. This is a perfect place to remember Tara.

The Park web site has many new construction pictures and pictures from the past year during construction. If you haven't read about Tara or don't know her story, take a look.

The National Law Enforcement Memorial Web site has 17 pages of reflections left by Officers, friends, and family from all over the country. The Law Enforcement community is truly strong for each other.

  2. Like so many other stories, don't always trust the picture portrayed by the media. Wait until the whole thing is out.

-The homeowner with radar says that the Kennesaw cop is like everyone else speeding by his house, but after 3 months of running the radar, he only has the Kennesaw cop one time at 34 in a 25. He setup motion detectors with cameras that turn on whenever a car comes by at over 25. So in 3 months, the Kennesaw cop came by and was pictured once over 25.

-The homeowner initiated several neighborhood confrontation directly with the officer, this is why the stalking language. The radar operator has had several neighborhood issue with the officer and numerous others in the neighborhood creating several public spectacles.

-It is illegal to own and operate this form and band of radar.

-The homeowner with radar went public media not to blow the whistle on the speeders, but because Bartow SO is filing on him for the potential stalking and illegal radar operation.

-The Kennesaw officer has been disciplined, pretty severely too, and has more to go, within his own department.

All I'm saying is that the media can lead us in any direction they choose. Please be careful not to jump on a west-bound train without knowing what's in the other direction. Look at your speedometer next time your in a 25 mph zone,,,,,shoot look at your speedometer next time in a 35. The cop was 34 in a 25 going down hill. That's 9 over. No excuse for being over,,,,but give the guy a break. He was radared and pictured once in 3 months.

Anyone ever had a neighbor that was a pain in the backside???

  3. First lets describe what a chauvinist is.

A chauvinist is a bigot, a sexist, or a racialist. They are not compassionate to other forms of behavior than what is dictated by their own beliefs.

    Do you have this characteristic?

Of course I do,,,,just like you do. I'm zealously biased to conservative thinking and you're a blazing liberal.

    :D

  4. THREE THINGS TO THINK ABOUT:

    1. COWS

    2. THE CONSTITUTION

    3. THE TEN COMMANDMENTS

    COWS:

Is it just me, or does anyone else find it amazing that our government can track a cow born in Canada almost three years ago, right to the stall where she sleeps in the state of Washington and they can track her calves to their stalls? But they are unable to locate 11 million illegal aliens wandering around our country. Maybe we should give them all a cow.

    THE CONSTITUTION:

They kept talking about drafting a Constitution for Iraq . Why didn't we just give them ours? It was written by a lot of really smart guys, its worked for over 200 years and we're not using it anymore.

    TEN COMMANDMENTS:

The real reason that we can't have the Ten Commandments in a courthouse........You cannot post "Thou Shalt Not Steal ," "Thou Shalt Not Commit Adultery" and "Thou Shall Not Lie" in a building full of lawyers, judges, and politicians -- it creates a hostile work environment.

    That is sooooooo perfect!!!

    And soooooooo true!!!!!

Maybe we could change all of the social programs to replace the hand-out checks with cows and we can find the illegals. Then we could have them deported to a country like Iraq where our recycled constitution could protect the corrupt liberal lawyers and judges. What a country we live in !!!!

  5. All Law Enforcement Officers in the State of GA are Certified or granted Arrest-Powers from the POST (Peace Officers Standards & Training) council. It authorizes them to execute and uphold the laws of the State of GA. Virtually all Law Enforcement Agencies in the State have agreements and understandings with their surrounding "neighbor" agencies that allow pursuit and execution across boundaries. If there are issues without a cross-functional pursuit, they will deal with them afterward. The inital response between agencies will always be that of cooperation and support. Law Enforcement is Law Enforcement. They're like family. They may fight among themselves if someone steps on another's toes, but they will always support each other when it comes to anyone violating codes. It's only proper.

    God bless the cops!!!!

  6. We go to the automotive place down off of Hiram Sudie near the 92 junction-AWESOME, and I mean awesome mechanic there-Donnie is his name (but I can't for the life of me remember the shop name? Hubby does all that stuff) We've gone thru several cheats, but no more. This guy is as real as you can get and VERY reasonable and will even take payments if you can't afford a big payment at once. He's just wonderful-seriously. If you were to get on Hiram Sudie from 92, he'd be on your left just a few feet from that gas station on the corner.

    Hi LL

I think the name of the shop is "Donnies" believe it or not.

He's a tremendous Christian and Godly guy. Every bit as good of a reputation as Dallas Auto. Two of the best in the area.

  7. Is the mechanics evaluation the only thing that is telling you that you need new struts? Are there any significant "banging" noises when you drive over road bumps?

Have a relatively good size individual stand next to each front wheel and quickly bounce the car down directly over the wheel. If the front of the car raises up and stops on the way back down, the struts are operating properly for operation related to movement. If the front of the car continues to bounce or makes any "banging" or "knocking" noise, there is a potential problem. Repeat this for each wheel and make your own determination.

There are many opinions about how long items like this can be tolerated. There are very few safety related concerns with strut condition. Most are comfort of ride and tire-wear issues.

Dallas Auto has a very good reputation within the mechanic discussion circles. I've never used them because I basically do all my own work.

PM me if you need to talk more or ask other questions.

  8. Don't know about Sunday yet. I did get some drugs, just took the first pill, so I don't know how 'good' they are.

Actually, it's a little embarrassing. I was 'compressing' some plastic trays so they would fti better in the trash by stomping on them and slipped.

That's a good story. I think you had too much Welches at communion and fell trying to get up for worship.

  9. Does it have gift ideas for your mother in law?

Bottom left corner: Snakes,,,,the new gift.

Your mother in law will love a new cuddly companion. She'll take her new reptile everywhere including your house on the holidays.

    too funny cover,,,,great job penquin.

  10. Good article Pointy.

It's a matter of money. The NightHawk is extremely expensive to maintain. The stealthy characteristics of the aircraft were achieved by individual, hand-crafting of each ship. Maintaining these characteristics requires extensive manual labor and meticulous efforts.

The avionics are the real essence of the stealth characteristics. Unfortunately, much of the avionics software and hardware are at best archaic. Do you remember the computers of 1980? How many of us are still using Windows 3.1 on a 466 chip with 64 mb of ram? We're not playing games on Nintendo64 either. Upgrade of these systems is extremely expensive.

The aircraft systems today may require 2-3 support personnel per ship where the F-117 requires 10 each. It's a matter of money. It's a great weapon system. So is the F-111 which was retired two years ago. Another defense decision made with money as the primary factor.

Today's defense spending must be allocated and targeted at only the absolute primary requirements with all "pork" removed. The aircraft of the future, F-22 & F-35, can do every job, every job that a NightHawk can do,,,,,but the F-117 has absolutely no air-to-air defensive weaponry. The F-22 & F-35 are the "badest" birds in the sky. AND they are stealthy.
