  1. When was the law changed? It use to be LEGAL, not to wear seat belts in trucks.

The GSP told him that if the guys in the back were over 18, they would get the tickets, but since they were not over 18, the driver gets the tickets.

  2. I had a friend about a year ago that was pulled over by the GSP on hwy61 with his two sons in the back of a truck. He was taking four boys to their baseball practice. The boys were both teenage. GSP gave him a ticket for two seat belt violations and he had to wait for someone to come get the boys because he already had two others in the passenger seat belts in the cab.

  3. Everyone's invited to meet at the Park and celebrate the dedication of the Park. There should be lots of folks and probably some media coverage also. So many of you have donated, dedicated bricks, played in softball or golf tournament fund raisers. It's time to make it all official.

This Park is constantly full of walkers, joggers, and bikers. Paulding Parks & Rec has even featured Tara Drummond Park on the cover of this year's Leisure Magazine. If possible, come to the opening. It's for all of us.

    Thank you to everyone.

  4. I know this was mentioned earlier, but, the website for Tara Drummond, of which has the info on the dog park / Silver Comet, as well as some wonderful info on Tara, is at www.TaraDrummond.com

Though I, personally, did not know Tara, I've heard nothing but wonderful things about this young lady and her love / zest for life -- I would imagine that she was a joy to be around!

The dog park will be a lasting remembrance of this vibrant individual, and I know that my "little Lily" and I will be going! Who knows, maybe we will run into Daisy there!

Donations are being accepted for the Park -- info on the website www.TaraDrummond.com

Definitely support this endeavor in any way that you can.....I'm sure that it will be appreciated!!!!

Lily can make arrangements for "puppy-parties" with Daisy by sending e-mail to tara.memorial@comcast.net. Daisy frequents the Park area and is very friendly toward other canines.

  5. A friend of mine (Donna Leonard) does oil portrait paintings -- she did two wonderful oil portrait paintings of Tara; one with her dog, Daisy, of which was given to Tara's family; and the second portrait was more of a formal one of Tara, that was given to the city of Kennesaw.

Donna does have a website..(EverlastingPortraits.com).....to see Tara's portraits, Click Here

Here is a picture of Donna's portraits that were taken during the ceremony in Kennesaw.

  6. I have a 15 year old GMC 4x4 with 240,000 miles that just won't quit. It will soon be my son's in a year or so after he completes his driver license learner permit time period. I'm already looking for something new myself.

    Can you say H E M I ?

Come PSD, I know you can.

If you drive one of them, it's hard to walk away.

  7. Would it be appropriate, once the park is completed, to have display of cars there? We could charge cars entrance and charge spectators; then we could donate the money wherever the family felt it would mean the most.

Great idea, but the County would have to answer that. I know that private entities were not allowed to charge "gate" fees when we were leasing the ballparks for tournaments. The schools can charge "gates" because they are a county-government-related agency. They allowed us to charge teams for entry into the tournament and allowed us to charge for the food we sold from concessions, but the "gates" were a problem related to charging people for access to a county park.

    But, great idea though.

The parking lot is fairly small also,,,,at least for car-show type area. Have you been there PSD?

  8. I saw the layout on the paulding channel on tv the other day.

Scuse me if I offend but...Why is this park being built in her honor? I am aware that she was an officer of the law but there are a lot of police officers that are killed every year.

Is there something I don't know about? I read her story on the website.

Again, no offense to any of her family members and friends. I'm just curious.

There's a little more than Tara being an animal lover. It was the basis of the beginning, but there's more. Tara spent many hours on the SCT in this same area walking her dog and walking other folks dogs because she "doggy-sat" for folks when they were out-of-town.

Before Tara was killed, PCP&R was in the process of building a simple trailhead on the SCT. It was to have a restroom, some trees, and sod. It initially had nothing to do with Tara and was planned well in advance of her incident.

Shortly after her death, the family and some others who knew Tara, began searching for some way to place something permanent for her memory. They formed a non-profit organization and began searching for a project. The County was consulted and said that we could look at the area where the new trailhead was going to be.

The non-profit has been fund-raising for the past 15 months or so to provide all of the items that you see being installed currently. The items and the contractor's labor are essentially being donated, with no strings attached, to Paulding County to enhance the trailhead. It's a mutual benefit situation since the community and PCP&R gain a beautiful park that is more than just parking lot, grass, trees, and restroom. Everyone will have an opportunity to remember Tara too.
