  1. I have a neighbor whose dogs bark ALL THE TIME. To keep it from waking up me and my kids, I put a box fan or an air purifier in our bedrooms. The white noise drowns out any outside noise. If it is too cool for a fan, we just turn the fan towards the wall. Works like a charm! Now if I just had a baby that would sleep through the night, I could sleep like a baby! :D

  2. Believe me, I have to work. I have no certain "lifestyle" to maintain. It is just the everyday normal stuff that I have to work for, groceries, utilities, mortgage, etc.

Nothing wrong with that. You do what is best for your family, and that is all that matters.

  3. I have a very strong opinion about being a SAHM. I am one and to me, there is no other way, especially when your children are very young. I am there, like 1stimemom said, for all the firsts, I know what my kids are eating, what they are watching on TV, etc. They rarely get sick (unlike most children who are in full time daycare situations). I could go on for days.

My husband and I chose this path together when I got pregnant with our first child. He does not make that much money, and when I quit working we were not doing too bad. We choose to do without a lot of things so that I can be with the kids.

I know there are women out there who have to work. I understand that, and I am not bashing those moms. There are those, however, who claim they "have" to work, but they "have" to work so than can continue to live a certain "lifestyle" while there kids are in daycare 10-12 hours 5 days a week being raised by some teenager who sits in a classroom all day. Not my idea of good parenting!

Like I said, I have a very strong opinion about this. Sorry if I offended anyone. Just my .02!

  4. I live in Draketown, just off of 113, so I use 120 all the time to travel to Paulding and to Buchanan. Almost all of 120 between Roses store and Hwy. 27 is double yellow, no passing zones, yet I could not even begin to count the number of times I have been passed on the double yellow. I am NOT a slow driver either. The speed limit on 120 is 55, and I usually go 55-60. I know there have been many people killed in accidents on 120, and I knew something like this would happen because so many people do pass on the double yellow.

I pray for everyone involved and their families. Nothing is so important that we cannot slow down and wait for the person in front of us to move out of our way.

  5. Some of us value our anonymity.

    Exactly! :ninja:

If you want to be unknown, why put yourself on Myspace? Or p.com? Peace had her picture as her avatar for quite sometime.

  6. :ninja:

I created a page - mainly because I had to create an account to keep up w/my stepdaughter's activities.

I have roughly 8 friends and they're all people I know in real life.

    :D

I saw you through others I knew were p.commers and myspacers. Nice to put a face with a name :D .

  7. My MIL just called and asked me to post and ask for prayer for her SIL. She is being taken to surgery right now. She has cancer. Her name is Pat Dutton. Please remember her today as she has surgery. She is very weak and her Dr's. say she may not make it through.

  8. I pretty much have a guess as to why they closed. I am positive that the spotlight saloon had nothing to do with them closing.

Don't leave us hangin'. What's your guess??

  9. OK, Rotticollector did this a while back and she got a huge response.

I am due on May 31st, but I am scheduled to be induced the 19th (next Friday). It's my third boy. I thought we had decided on a name, Gracin Beau, but my husband has suddenly decided he is not sure about it. So, suggest away!

I like names that are not too common, but not too hard to pronounce. People have butchered my name my whole life, so I try hard to avoid that.

    POST, POST, POST!!

  10. I went through a very similar situation a few years ago. Same thing, I was laid off from an attorney's office. I drew unemployment for a couple of weeks. Within days of being laid off, I started dating my now husband. He helped me out until I found a job. His mother even tried to help me get on where she works. I ended up getting a job as a shampoo girl at my hairdressers (and close friends) shop. Now I know that sounds like I crap job, but I was bringing home up to $500 a week, cash! It ended up all working out for the best, and I could not be happier in my life now.

Best of luck. I know it is hard when your going through it to see the bright side, but, as the saying goes, "If God brings you to it, He will bring you through it."

  11. My husband has a good job with Greystone Power. We have always known there is security there, afterall, everyone needs electricity, and he has a great retirement package.

My dad, sister, and BIL all work for Bellsouth. My dad has been there for over 30 years. It is a wonderful company, and it fed and clothed me all my life. With my dad's pushing, my husband took and passed all of the necessary tests to get a job with Bellsouth. If hired, it would be higher pay and better medical benefits. However, as many of you know, Bellsouth has laid many people off over the years (including my dad in the late 70's) and they have union contract negotiations every 4 or 5 years that can lead to a strike. With all that in mind we were very afraid of him being laid off in the future, especially with everything that is going on with the AT&T buyout.

Well, he got a call a couple of weeks ago, and was offered a job. We were thrilled and scared all at the same time. He jumped through all of the hoops that the Human Resources department asked him to, all while doing much praying about the situation. He told me that at one point, he asked God, "If this is not what I am supposed to be doing, please stop this from going through." Within a couple of days we got a call saying that the particular job opening was going to be given to someone who was already a Bellsouth employee, that may be losing their job because of the buyout. That was all we needed to hear.

Don't get me wrong, I am still unsure about alot of things. Insurance for just me through my husband's company is very expensive , and it would have been totally free through Bellsouth. I am pregnant right now, so I am on Medicaid, but when it runs out I do not know what we will do. I do know, though, that God will bring us through whatever we face.

  12. Even before I was married I always knew I could never be a military wife. How these women (an men) do it is beyond me. It takes a very special person to be a military spouse, and thank GOD for them!

  13. My best friends mother died when we were 20 from cancer. She had been sick for about six years before she died. My BF doesn't talk about it much, but I know she misses her mother terribly. I think so many times how lucky I am to have a mother like I do. I can call my mom anytime, day or night, about anything. I do not know what I would do if I could not.
