  1. I haven't seen the movie, but I made sure to catch NPR's interview with Guillermo del Toro. Very interesting man.... I can't wait to see it.

My wife and I finally got around to watching this. Great movie....The subtitles just disappeared and became apart of the movie within the first 5 to 10 minutes. Its definitely not a movie for children. The most horrific scene was not played out in the realm of monsters, but what a human could do to another. Yuck!

    Again...Its worth seeing...

  2. Leave it to a group of divorce attorneys and "sex sales" marketers to come up with such a tasteless add. This is one time when I would have to disagree with Barnum’s, "Any publicity is good publicity".

The ad is the brainchild of Corri Fetman, who told ABC News' Law & Justice Unit, "Law firm advertising is boring…Everything's always the same. It's lawyers in libraries with a suit on and the law books behind them. They don't say anything. What, I should hire you because you have a law degree? C'mon. So we wanted to try something different."

Reaction from those who work in and around Chicago's divorce courts has been less than enthusiastic.

"It's grotesque,'' said John Ducanto, past president of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers. "It's totally undignified and offensive."

  3. Would this ordinance apply?

    ARTICLE III

    Sec. B. DEFINITIONS.

Except as specifically defined herein all words used in this Ordinance shall carry their customary meaning as defined by a standard dictionary.

    (3) Accessory uses: Uses subordinate to the principal use or building on a lot and serving a purpose customarily incidental to the use of the principal building, provided any such use is established with or after the construction of the principal building. Such uses include: garbage pads, heating and air conditioning units, Jacuzzis, tennis courts, swimming pools (private), playhouses, playgrounds, and the like.

    ARTICLE VI

    GENERAL PROVISIONS

Sec. F. GENERAL BUILDING, AREA, AND YARD PROVISIONS.

    Except as herein otherwise provided:

    (6) No accessory building, structure, or use shall be erected on or project into any required front or side yard.

The issue I'm running into is whether or not the road front of the property would be considered "front or side yard"....when you have multiple lots sharing one access road (drive). I probably completely off base. I have passed along everyones advice...

    Thanks again,

    Jamie

    Probably not...

  5. Jamie....

Where are the mailboxes for these houses? Are they at the end of the road too?

I thought the county passed something a few years ago that all roads that had houses on them had tro have a name even if it was just "something" Path?

Yes, the mailboxes are at the end of the road.

  6. Ok... I've checked municipal codes and Ga law and I can't find anything really pertaining to this issue. Are there any real estate folks on here that know anything about neighbors impacting property value? or zoning?

    Thanks,

    Jamie

  7. Hey guys… I’ve attempted to answer this question myself, but I can’t locate the appropriate resources. Here is the issue:

My parents purchased their house and it has a road that runs along side the property, which is used by a number of houses further back in the woods. Shortly after moving in one of the households decided to build a platform and place there garbage cans at the end of this road. There are no requirements for pickup and the rest of the households maintain their garbage cans at their homes.

The placement of this makeshift garbage container area is about four o’clock in front of the house. It is unsightly and my parents think it would impact the resale of the property. Upon neighborly contacting the household regarding the matter, my parents were advised “I don’t care. Deal with it”. Everyone has the right to be a butt and that is understood and they don't want to infringe upon anyone's rights, but is there anything that can be done? Where should I look?

    Thanks,

    Jamie
