  1. Yes, I have..and still will if it's necessary. I have 4 teenagers, ranging from 13 (twins) to almost 19. I reserve spanking for the absolute worst of offenses, or as a last straw when other consequences have not worked. I gave a spanking a couple of weeks ago and the change in the child since then is nothing short of miraculous! That is the 1st spanking I have had to give in about 2 years. Most of the time a good talking to will take care of the problem. I think my kids would rather have a spanking than a lecture.

I really, really like the moving the wood pile idea. When my oldest was in his early teens and playing football, I stole the coach's punishment and made him run laps around our yard and driveway. For our youngest that would just be fun..lol

LR..The same with my Daddy. He could tell me to bend over his knee today and I would do it, and I'm just shy of 40...LOL

Subby..I absolutely agree with having a child in hand by an early age. I was always told 3 though, not 5.

  2. I hate math and I have forgotten how to do a simple math problem.

    Please help:

    286 = ?% of 1360

21%, if im not mistaken. Divide 286 by 1360, move the decimal 2 spaces to left to take it from decimal to percentage..am i right math heads?

  3. For the sinus headache, take 2 Motrin IB and 2 Sudafed (the real stuff with pseuphedrine that you have to get behind the counter). I use the store brands of both of these. WalMart's brand of both will cost me about $5-$6. That always knocks mine out within 30-45 minutes. I don't know if you can take these meds with asthma though.

Your best bet is to go on to the clinic to make sure you don't have anything worse than a sinus infection. I hope you get to feeling better soon. Let us know what they say.

  4. I am so very excited, I could not wait to announce Sports Source has a LOT of new inventory. DH and I purchased a lot of items from a liquidation sale of a Sports Store. (THANK YOU Charlies Angels for the heads up!!!!) We have lots of Collegiate purses, wallets, flags, a ton of different type key rings, belts, and much more we will be selling at a fraction of retail!! Also, from another vendor, we have new Collegiate and NFL shirts, jackets and hats. We love to find great deals so we can pass on the savings to our customers!!! I will try to post some pictures tomorrow. But, to be able to see everything, please come visit us at the Outdoor Market on Hwy. 92 Sunday afternoon. (Hopefully the rain will have moved out by then!) Our hours are 1:00 - 6:00 but we will be there well before 1:00. If there is anything specific you are needing, let me know. If we do not have it, I can usually get it and as always at a great price below retail.

    Where on 92?

  5. I love the Venus Embrace razors, they have 5 blades. They are expensive, but you can find sales and coupons for them. I got mine for free after using coupons at Walgreen's a couple of months ago.

  6. I have always done the very same cake. My Daddy used to bake it for us when we were little. All of my kids are teens now, but they still expect the cake..lol They are wanting to do an egg hunt here at the house this year, our kids and their boy/girl friends. For some reason I don't think a 50 cent prize egg will fly..haha

A church friend sent me this recipe in e-mail. I haven't tried it yet, but thought you may want to try. With everyone stocking up on crescent rolls awhile back, this may be one way to use those up.

This might be good as a Sunday School project...

    You Need

    Help & permission from Parents!

    Ingredients:

    Crescent rolls

    Melted butter

    Large Marshmallows

    Cinnamon Sugar

    Resurrection Rolls

A recipe you can do with your kids/grand kids in order

for them to understand the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

    Enjoy!!!!!!!

Preheat Oven to 350 degrees. Give each child a triangle of crescent rolls. The crescent roll represents the cloth that Jesus was wrapped in.

    Read Matthew 27: 57-61

    1. Give each child a marshmallow. This represents Jesus.

    2. Have him/her dip the marshmallow in melted butter. This represents the oils of embalming.

    3. Now dip the buttered marshmallow in the cinnamon and sugar which represents the spices used to anoint the body.

    4. Then wrap up the coated marshmallow tightly in the crescent roll (not like a typical crescent roll up. but bring the sides up and seal the marshmallow inside.) This represents the wrapping of Jesus' body after death.

    5. Place in a 350 degree oven for 10-12 minutes. (The oven represents the tomb---pretend like it was three days!)

    6. Let the rolls cool slightly. The children can open their rolls (cloth) and discover that Jesus is no longer there, HE IS RISEN!!!!

(The marshmallow melts and the crescent roll is puffed up, but empty.)

  7. I have some Dave and Buster's coupons. Let me see if I can round them up..seems like they were free $10 play with $10 purchase.

I found them, I have 6. You present q at front desk, limit of one q per visit..the kids could each buy their own. The power cards cost $2 each on top of the $10..so It's $12, then you get $10 in free game play. Q also says to check the website for minor policy.

If you want these, I am in New Hope and can meet you somewhere.

  8. I agree with the math and music going hand in hand. It does with my oldest anyway.

He started playing alto sax in 6th grade, by 8th grade he was borrowing a trumpet and taught himself how to play that. During high school he taught himself acoustic guitar, then electric, the bass...he even "pecks" at the keyboard some and does a pretty good job to have no formal training. I love when his friends come over and bring their guitars and play. It amazes me because I have never shown an aptitude for instruments, nor has his father (not for lack of trying..LOL he plays the same run over and over on the banjo). We all love music, but the kids are the only ones who have a talent for instruments and singing.

  9. My 18 yo son has a midnight curfew, weekday or week end. he has noschool and if he is tired when he gets up for his job, then HE needs to figure out that he needs more sleep.

MY 17 yo has a 10pm curfew through the week and 11 on weekends. She doesn't have a set bed time, but has to be IN my house on time, not 3 minutes late. She has a clock on her cell, she needs to keep an eye on it.

My 13 yo's will go to movies or skating with their older siblings. We figure a set time for me to pick them up when they go. They know to be ready at that time. They don't go anywhere without there being some type of parent or adult supervision, unless it is with their older siblings. My daughter wanted to meet with some friends and go to Stars and Strikes, but her and the friends dropped that idea after I started asking SEVERAL questions.

MY kids can use me as the fall out guy if they want, doesn't matter to me. I think I have a very good relationship with my kids AND their friends. They are more than welcome to hang out here on the weekends. We may even make a 1am trip to Krystal's for some grub, but I know where they all are and who they are with (me). I know they are not drinking alcohol or doing drugs. I think this has helped me to keep a good relationship with all of "my" kids. When my son moved out, his friends wanted to know when he was coming over to visit so they could come too..LOL I love that! But one thing my son always told them, "My mom doesn't just care about us, she cares (and worries) about our friends too." I fall back on the old saying..It takes a village.

God Bless and good luck in your decision. Follow your heart and your instincts. She may not like a 9pm curfew, but she will (eventually) get over it. Offer to allow her friends over for an hour or two to hang out until their curfews, and let their parents pick them up there. You would be shocked at what you learned and you would figure out which home you DID NOT want your dd going to without you there.

  10. That road is a nightmare, especially driving a bus! You wouldn't believe how many people have passed me or ran my stop sign while picking up a child. Forget getting a tag number, you're too concerned about the kids to catch it.

  11. I don't know about the other talent lined up, but I can tell ya Wade will be singing the National Anthem to kick off the Rodeo on Friday night at 7:45.

He will be performing pre-rodeo on Saturday night.

Hope to see you and the family there!

Awesome! It's been so long since we have seen Wade sing. A friend of ours is supposed to be there with his kids (and a friend or two of theirs) singing, but I haven't found out when yet. As a matter of fact the girl singing with them is a friend of Wade's from Moses.

I have never been to a rodeo and think we would all enjoy it, the performances will be the icing on the cake.

  12. I have seen that truck several times but can't remember where.

Me too, Bones. I am off of Bobo Road in New Hope area. I am on the road several times a day (my job) out in this area and I will definitely keep my eyes open for this vehicle.

Thank you, OP, for giving us a heads up on this.

  13. I have an 18 yr old son who is dating a 17 yr old. He has moved out, but moved back home after a few months. I know he is sexually active. I also know he is fully aware of protection measure..and how it is not just birth control, but a potential life saver. he knows where I keep condoms and also knows to get them if he needs them. I would much rather come off a few bucks, than to have my child sick or dying from something totally preventable. That said.....umm..NOPE!! Not in my house. It is my house and you will respect it and my wishes or you can get your own house. She is allowed to stay over from time to time. They go to bed when we go to bed, and they go to bed seperately. She sleeps upstairs in my 17 yo's room or my 13 yo's room. He sleeps downstairs in his room..right next door to our room. Most of the time either hubby or myself will sleep on the sofa. We are very open in our discussions about sex, drugs..whatever, doesn't matter. he doesn't think twice about purchasing his condoms while keeping me company on a trip to WalMart. It actually makes me a VERY proud Mom to know my child is responsible when it comes to things like this. It also makes me smile to think about when I had "the talk" in depth with my daughter. They are only 18 months apart, but he made sure I didn't leave anything out and is actually the one to bring up how birth control was not just for birth control and how condoms are a must, even when oral (or other methods) birth control measures are taken.

  14. I have no clue how much to give for a chi. A friend told me how much to give my dog. She also has a Pit who had skin issues, both about the same weight. Sorry I couldn't help more.

I have thought about trying Missing Link, I just don't think about it when I'm at Hiram. When I head out there, I try to get whatever I came out for and then get back home..the traffic drives me nuts...lol

  15. If you could change one thing about the following, what would it be?

Yourself I need to quit smoking and would like to lose about 25-30 pounds. (If I could go back to my 28 yr old body, I'd LOVE it..haha)

Your spouse/so I wish he would help around the house more (both of us work). Better communication, we both need to work on this.

Your kids Oldest son needs to further his education and be more responsible/dependable.

Oldest daughter needs to put herself and her education needs first. (17 and thinks the world stops revolving if the bf isn't near..lol)

Youngest daughter needs to curb her tongue a little. She can be quite sassy with her siblings..but we ALL know how strongly she feels about things..LOL

Youngest son needs to focus and follow through.

No one is perfect, we all have things we can improve. That being said I think I am the absolute MOST blessed mother in the world. My children love me and not a day goes by that they don't tell me so. They have very generous, loving hearts.

Your pets They wouldn't bark between the hours of 9pm and 7am, unless someone was trying to hurt/rob us.

Your inlaws I wish my husband's family was more forgiving and loving..and I'll leave it at that.
