  1. I also think they are ignored because these neighborhoods show the failure of the Democratic Party.
  2. Are you saying only black people live in impoverished communities? Shame on you. You must be having a hard time keeping up as the topic has evolved to include all gun violence. Just to point out a fact here that homicides committed with guns in Chicago far outnumber the total deaths from mass shootings in this country this year. The mass shootings were wrong, but you can't ignore the entire picture when it comes to gun violence and that includes the cultural problem. You and others seem to be focused on just mass killings by the mentally ill.
  3. There you go; it's a cultural problem because so many people in the impoverished communities believe because nobody gives a sheeze about them, they have the right to just take what they want, even if it means killing someone to get it. You see that culture fed and reinforced in the TV shows and movies they watch and the music they listen to. So how do you change the culture?
  4. If DoJ started charging and prosecuting them, the left would be accusing them of adding more inmates to the prison system to feed the money making racket and Lord help the DoJ with the left if any of those they were prosecuting were black males. We'd start hearing more of how their is a disproportionate number of blacks in jail than whites. It wouldn't matter to the left if 75% of those being charged and convicted were white, the left would still make the accusation.
  5. I have said this many times and so has many other conservatives on this site; gun owners need to be responsible with their guns. Your proposal for insurance would not have prevented the death of the 12-year old. His father could have prevented his son's death had he placed the gun someplace inaccessible to the boy while he was not at home. My father had a handgun for home defense while my siblings and I were growing up. My father had a Ruger .38 revolver. I remember how he unloaded it and before he let each of us hold it, he taught us gun safety. He let us hold it because he knew tha
  6. The thing is I don't think he really cares. He has his mind set that gun owners purchasing insurance on them is the solution. Personally, I think that's not going to solve the problem because those who acquire guns for the purpose of committing crimes are not going to purchase the insurance. Does he really believe that gang bangers are going to purchase gun insurance?
  7. Our country should always be prepared for war; it's why we have our Armed Forces. One reason no country has attempted to invade us in modern times with their military is because so many of our people are well-armed.
  8. Funny how I have never heard you advocate that liquor companies should be held accountable for drunk driving deaths and injuries. A lot of good a weapon for self-defense does you when you have it locked up someplace when a home invasion takes place. I have seen quite a few news stories where homeowners successfully defended themselves and their families because they had their gun accessible. These guys who commit home invasions don't give you a heads up they're coming so you have time to get your gun out of a locked safe.
  9. No, I never said there was nothing that could be done and I've been saying all along it's a cultural problem that has to be addressed. It's not law abiding citizens buying guns for home protection and sport that are the problem. It's those who are buying them with the intent to commit criminal acts that are the problem and most of that stems from culture.
  10. The laws that were changed concerning DUIs; did they ban alcohol from being sold? No, but we did try prohibition one time and looked at how well that worked out. The law states that a person must be 21 to legally purchase and consume alcohol. Has that stopped teenagers from being able to purchase and consume alcohol? No, as many do it. Have these laws prevented DUIs from occurring? No, they still occur. Have they stopped drunk driving accidents. No. MADD did a lot more than lobby for new laws; they made an effort to change the culture. Look at all the PSAs they used to produce fo
  11. You still fail to recognize that the problem is not guns, the problems lie in culture.
  12. They fall under the Hague and Geneva Conventions at best.
  13. If you don't have an answer, quit complaining. That mentally deranged man was able to buy a gun because the Air Force FAILED to enter his conviction into NCIC. That buy the way happened on Obama's watch.
  14. OMG. Apparently you have a problem comprehending what we conservatives here are saying. I tell you what jenilyn, why don't you give us the solution you see to making significant reductions in gun violence. BTW, it's been statistically proven when it comes to gun violence, more are killed by a person using a handgun than an assault rifle each year.
  15. Unfortunately for him, he doesn't think things through.
  16. So you still believe prisoners of war we keep detained have Constitutional rights?
  17. So to you, pro-life should mean no guns or the ability to defend yourself?
  18. Where the hell did I say that? I suggest you go read what I posted a second and third time and then perhaps you may comprehend what I stated. Sheesh.
  19. Many of those shootings in Chicago are committed by people who are illegally possessing firearms. The left is fully aware of that and they ignore that fact because it disputes their claim that gun control laws reduce gun violence. Chicago had an ordinance that prohibited its residents from having handguns in the home. It didn't deter gun violence in Chicago. What the left really wants to see is the a repeal of the Second Amendment and all guns confiscated in this country. That's their ultimate goal. Now let's say for a moment that they succeed in repealing the Second Amendment; how ar
  20. The Second Amendment mandates the people have the right to bear arms. That means the only way to take guns away from the people is for that amendment to be repealed. Mental health care is not mandated by the Constitution. How many people have you known in your lifetime had mental health issues and even when confronted they needed help denied they had a problem and therefore rejected the idea they needed mental health care?
  21. Are you advocating now for the government to seize everyone's guns? Here's the other question for you; was the gun the shooter used to kill those people at church an automatic? I ask because I'm not sure if you know the difference between a semi-automatic and an automatic firing gun.
  22. So far, you're just proving my point even further that gun control laws will not make a significant difference in gun violence.
