It is election day for the City of Hiram and State of Georgia. Hiram residents, please go to the Community Center and cast your ballot for Mayor, then go vote in the Presidential preference poll. Your choice matters!

Kwood - I agree, but add that the residential area of the "old" town needs attention as well. I think that bringing sewer, improving the water system, and putting in sidewalks will improve the entire community and increase the possibilities of drawing more business and people to the downtown area. You are correct that you have to vote in two places. The State sets the election dates. If the office vacancy occurs within so many days of a standard election, then it has to coincide with the scheduled election.

Don't forget the City of Hiram Mayoral election at the Hiram Community Center if you live inside the City limits! Tuesday-Friday 8-5

A bump for the start of Early Elections for the Mayor's race. All voting for the city election is at the Hiram Community Center. The city elections are non-partisan! All registered voters are invited. The polls are open from 8am-5pm, tomorrow through Friday March 2. They will then be open on March 6 from 7am-7pm for regular voting.

Just use the cities in the search, both Hiram and Dallas. Unfortunately, most of our current office holders are on the "late/non filer" list. As to the other candidate, Doris Devey also qualified to run. I don't know much about her. I met her at two of the Council meetings, and she seems to be a nice person. The State of Georgia requires that all candidates for public office, and current office holders, file Campaign Disclosure and Personal Financial Disclosure reports. There are clearly published requirements concerning who and when to file. The current system only places a monetary fine on the candidate if they file late, or even if they don't file at all. Just a reminder that all voting in the Special Election for the office of Mayor in the City of Hiram on March 6, and the early voting, will be held at the Hiram Community Center. The address is 217 Main Street, behind the administrative offices. March 6 is also the Presidential Preference Primary.
