The idea that I have most often proposed is eliminating the huge tax exemption given to Delta on fuel, which was imposed immediately post-9/11. The state actually put the burden back on the counties and property owners by funding local school boards the equivalent of 10 days pay per teacher in the district. This way, our legislators could say that they didn't furlough any teachers or lay them off. They basically washed their hands clean of the situation and put the blame on local school boards. Teachers are not effective unless they feel appreciated and valued. We find ways to stop teacher furloughs and keep teachers from going to work everyday with a dread that they are the next to be laid off. Great question, and it is a huge issue right now. You are exactly right, that the in-state tuition only covers a small portion of the total expense of that student attending a public college. That is the problem with the impact fee situation. Very few developers actually had to pay for infrastructure improvements. They worry about the area of roads at the entrance to their subdivision and the rest was either forgotten about or was put upon our local tax payers to improve. I'll answer this one. While I do not have a PhD, I have been teaching survey level history classes at UWG for the last year while working on my graduate degree. A "real" professor usually has a PhD. However, I have been responsible for all aspects of teaching at the college level. I took this semester off from both teaching and classes to work on the campaign full time. I have worked around the southeast as an archaeologist and land surveyor since I graduated from UGA and went back to school 2 years ago to pursue my graduate degree. I will go ahead and answer this for myself. In 2008, I was a land surveying project manager for the Bentley-Craton Group. I was not a student and not involved with Students for Obama. At the time, I had not met my campaign manager (who is not Mr. Politics BTW). We can keep going around with these question that have little bearing on who the most qualified candidate for the District 19 House seat. I will be more than happy to address this, as I have addressed all questions directed directly at me in this election cycle. First of all the PDA or Progressive Democrats of America are a fringe group that most Democrats in Georgia do not identify with including myself. Few Democrats are members of the PDA just as few Republicans are members of any far right wing group. There is a lot more involved with the Hickory Creek reservoir. They ran into extremely large archaeological sites in the flood plain along Hickory Log Creek that had to be excavated. I was on the team of archaeologists that did the work there. I also did the archaeological work on the area of the Richland Creek site and can assure you that we do not have the same problems that they had. I am not saying that is the only problem with the Hickory Log site, but it did cost a great deal of money to get that worked around.
