I have gone through 3 flat bed scanners and have scanned many documents, pictures and 35mm slides. I also have a small portable scanner to take on trips, and to meetings. My third scanner is part of an all-in-one printer. With this you can put in a stack of items to scan, and let it feed and scan them. To start with I suggest getting a scanner for the most likely uses you have.

How to determine what size external hard drive to buy
pauldingclcp replied to Mrs G's topic in RECENT TOPICS
I would suggest multiple 350 or 500GB drives. I have a lot of genealogy information and use four hard drives for backup. One drive is at my son's house out of state for extra safe keeping. A 1 TB drive holds a lot of data, but I prefer to have various backups on different drives stored in different locations. I back up files rather than the complete drive. -
