  1. Seriously ??? ... are you really attacking KIDS on a high school team????? We are talking about a group of 15 to 17 year old KIDS here!!! BOTH sides were doing their fair share of talking junk before, during and after this game -- on the field and off the field. I can honestly say that what some of your players did BEFORE the game was absolutely taunting in my book and personally, if one of my two boys did that before a game ... if Coach Reid didn't take care of it, I would have dealt with it once they got home. There isn't a football team in the entire country that is 100% perfect, or any coaches for that matter ... but it's really bold of you to make a statement insinuating that our players and coaches are not good kids/people -- all because you got beat. I have very close personal friends on your team and I know for a fact they would never say that about any of our boys ... you can have opinions about our coaches, but to include our KIDS in your negative connotations is just plain sad and I'm honestly appalled!

I PERSONALLY know the majority of our team ... and your team too by the way ... and THEY ARE ALL FINE EXAMPLES OF WHAT ATHELETS SHOULD BE ... and how DARE you claim otherwise!!! You should be ashamed of yourself and I am really hoping you merely said this out of anger!

It is always amazing to me how the players see each other at Steak-n-Shake THAT NIGHT after a game, and everything is just fine. They talk about the game and move on. Yes, I'm sure there are those few that can't let go, but for the most part, it's over when the 4th quarter is over. The kids have no problem saying good game, good job, or anything else. But alas .... it's the PARENTS that get on here and other message boards and have the audacity to bad talk another kid? Really? .... but would you really say those things in person? Face to face? Didn't think so!

I completely agree with you, not that my view matters because I don't have a player on either team, but my son was at the game and he goes to North. I have been reading negative comments about both teams and it just seems like people need to let it go and let the coaches and the players' parents handle it, and everyone else should just look forward to the next game.

  2. I wasn't at the game so I don't know what happened. If it was as bad as some say, I'm sure the North coaches will deal with it appropriately. Depending on who you listen to it sounds like there was bad behavior on both sides and the parents aren't helping by continuing the bad behavior on this forum.

  3. YUMMMMM.......Care to share???? (At least the recipe??)

We all had a big lunch so DH brought home homemade potato soup from Goldberg's Deli and I made grilled cheese to go with it. Just hit the spot but made me yearn for cold weather for soup and chili nights.

Oooh, potato corn chowder sounds really good right now.

  4. Wow. With the exception of 'The Pacific' and 'Glee,' NOTHING we watch or watched won *anything*. Craig Ferguson and 'The Middle' weren't even nominated, which is criminal.

The Closer, Kyra Sedgwick, is the only one I can remember that I watch. I thought the show started out pretty funny, or at least Jimmy Fallon was, and then it kind of died.

  5. Two Guiness beers and one two liter Dr. Pepper in a large pot with the ribs. Boil for 75 minutes. Put on a cookie sheet and broil in oven for 5 minutes on each side.

This is the best indoor ribs I have ever had.

Slap a little bit of your favorite BBQ sauce on while broiling.

Which kind of ribs do you use for this? And do you use any liquid smoke?

  6. When I was younger and on a VERY strict grocery budget, I found out that it was much less expensive to make simple things than casseroles and such. They always seemed to need things added that added to my grocery bill. For instance, hamburgers were cheaper than tatertot casserole. Baked chicken with rice and a can of green beans was cheaper than chicken pot pie. I would cook a whole chicken in the crockpot, take the meat off and make a pot of chicken and rice with half and chicken tacos with the other half. A can of salmon is cheap, too. Salmon patties, mac and cheese or cheese grits and a can of spinach was a very inexpensive meal. And check grocery stor ads and be a cherry picker. Just get the DEALS!

I prefer simple things. I like to saute chicken in butter and olive oil and just have that with frozen green beans. My family doesn't like to eat that way though. Also I like angel hair pasta with olive oil, garlic and parmesan cheese. That sounds good right now. I would love to have some salmon patties, haven't had any in years. But my family won't eat any fish.

  7. How do you make your own seasoning? I find most of the store bought envelopes not very good. They are too strong.

    Here's the recipe I used: 2 1/2 T. chili powder

    1 1/2 T paprika

    2 T cumin

2 t. oregano, preferably Mexican oregano

    1 T. garlic powder

1 1/2 T onion flakes or onion powder

    1/2 t. cayenne pepper

1 t. salt (salt helps keep it fresh while storing)

Mix together. Store in airtight container. Will keep for 6 months to a year. 7 teaspoons of

this is the equivalent of 1.25 oz packet of store bought. This recipe makes the equivalent of

4 packets. Mix 7 tsp to 1 lb ground meat after browning and draining. Add 3/4 cup of water and

    cook til water has evaporated.

I found this recipe on recipezaar but I saw Alton Brown making tacos one night so I need to try his recipe too.

  8. Deli turkey meat from Kroger on country white bread and red grapes. Last night I made tacos with homemade taco seasoning that I didn't realize was enough to equal 4 store bought packs of seasoning. I doubled the recipe because I had two pounds of ground beef and put all of it in the meat. Moral of story is don't measure out a new recipe while on the phone with your sister.
