  8. We went in a couple of weeks ago, lots of tools, some baby things and artificial trees. Hubby loved it! I got a new iron and a paper shredder. They had lawn mowers. Not clothes, shoes or usual thrift store fare. Edited to add: Endless Yard Sale at Paulding Plaza is closing after Christmas.
  9. To the best of my knowledge and as a native if Cobb, I believe Cobb has at least 3 commercial airports - Charlie Brown and Mccullom and a big ole' air force base that is known as Dobbins AFB, althought the National Guard is there now and don't forget Lockheed, heck the cargo planes flew over our house in test flights in the 1970s. Maybe your definition of "commercial airport" is different because these facilities certainly have commercial and military air traffic. Not to mention presidential planes and escorts - even Ronald Reagan landed at Dobbins back in the day and he wasn't in a two seater
  10. The increase in diagnosis in this subgroup is a “significant contributor to the increasing prevalence trend overall,” says Craig Newschaffer, director of the A.J. Drexel Autism Institute in Philadelphia, who was not involved in the study. Although changes in underlying risk cannot be ruled out, he says, the finding “suggests that parents, educators and clinicians are still becoming better equipped at recognizing [autism] in cognitively able children.” While this is true to a certain extent, I am old enough to have gone through school and work careers and have encountered many many
  11. Georgia Army National Guard Youth Challenge Program. For teens 16 - 18, military mindset but civilian goals of GED and jobs training in some areas. Worth a look. see if this link works. www.ngycp.org/site/state/gafs

  13. No, Gail was a Carroll County native. Her children attended elementary school (Nebo) and S. Paulding Middle School in the 1990's here in Paulding, but they all returned to Haralson County a few years back. Thank you, Pubby. Yes, our clan is something else. N.
  14. My Friend, My Hero, My Sister! Gail Voyles married my brother 26 years ago. She was welcomed into the family like others before her but over the years, Gail became very special - like others, too, but differently. Gail faced life with faith, dignity and always with a sense of humor! My husband retired from the Army in the 1990's, her retirement gift was a 1970's polyester outfit complete with plaid slacks, shirt and suspenders! We still laugh! She said he was going to need civilian clothes and she felt that this outfit was a good "go to meeting" outfit. Gail fought sickness and
  15. I have a really good idea about my child's educational future in this county.
  16. Thank you for your prayers and thoughts. Serenity is being rocked in Heaven by Grandma Riley now. Continue to pray for these kids - the mom is still very sore and having trouble getting around - and as you can imagine we are all heart broken. Thank you pubby for the post - I've printed it out for the family so they will know there are lots of people reaching out to them and offering prayers and support.
  17. Whenever I need a service or business, I turn to Pcom. Recently Skyline Plumbing did some work for me - they are great and I recommended them highly. Also, Family Ford just had the perfect 500 for my hubby and of course our church - so I'm thrilled with the ads, they are better and faster than the yellow pages for this area!

  21. Comic actor Howard Morris, best known for his portrayal of Ernest T. Bass on the Andy Griffith Show, died at his Hollywood home Monday. He was 85. I really loved to laugh at his poetry when I watched the show, he was always in love. Like the others from this show, he was a great character and will be remembered.
