Although the State of Georgia and the Feds DO establish the guidelines for state and federal highways, the county DOT and commission boards DO have an active part in petitioning the GADOT for speed limit changes. Those 55 MPH signs on 278 didn't just disappear at the whim of the State without some serious input and petitions from local law enforcement and local commissioners. There have been a consistent number of bad wrecks at that intersection at Best Buy and Buffalo Wild Wings.... Ultimately culminating in a deadly accident. SO , YES the local governments DO have input and can petition t

I just drove through Hiram on 278 East toward the Cobb Co line. There is now one posted Speed Limit sign after you cross over Hwy 92 , and THANKFULLY there are no more 55 MPH signs that I could see all the way to the intersection of the new bypass construction. Sad that someone had to lose their life for the DOT to realize that THE MOST congested hwy in Paulding Co did NOT need to be a 55 MPH zone. I hope this stays that way. On the flip side, they set the speed limit on Bill Carruth Bypass at 45 MPH , for the sole purpose of speeding ticket revenue !! That bypass , and I'm certain the n

One was an old 4 door Jeep Cherokee, black in color and badly faded paint. The other appeared to be a 90's model Volkswagon station wagon, green in color. The front seat passenger in the VW was the deceased. That's where the full impact hit.

Just left Buffalo Wild Wings. A very sad scene at the intersection of 278 at the traffic light in front of BWW and Best Buy. Don't know anyone involved as we had just finished dinner. Closed the east bound lanes of 278 for over and hour. The coroner removed one person deceased in the passenger side of their vehicle. Looked like a "t-bone" accident. That is a VERY dangerous intersection even with the traffic light. Prayers for whomever lost someone tonight. What a tragedy......

Rumor of Extra Cops and Roadblocks This Weekend
UnknownComic replied to UnknownComic's topic in RECENT TOPICS
I don't find it the least bit amusing when hundreds of videos keep showing up online of police intimidation and threats against persons passion through roadblocks. Like the older gentleman who refused to roll his window "all" the way down. The officer had already checked this man's license and registration and admitted on video that he had no suspicion of wrong doing. Yet he continued to badger this man to roll his window all the way down for no reason whatsoever !! That's just one example of hundreds. And it's happening more often. The foolish officer ended up arresting the man for obstru -
Sick and tired of the ongoing violations of our 4th Amendment Rights !! 11 states have already banned roadblocks. Too many L.E. Officers forget that they're "To Protect and To Serve". Law Enforcement Officers are NOT THE LAW. The law resides with the Courts, Judges, and Juries. KNOW YOUR RIGHTS against illegal search and seizure !!! 'Obummer' is determined to turn this country into a police state by our armed forces and some law enforcement as well. Educate yourself !! And beware !!

Rome fan here and I agree 110% !! Worst officiating I've ever witnessed at the high school level, no matter who you were rooting for ! I think they brought in the out of work replacement officials from the NFL !!

Attention Paulding County Department of Transportation !!! The widening of Bill Carruth Parkway is completely USELESS until you change the timing of the traffic signal at Bill Carruth Parkway and Hiram-Sudie Road !! The traffic stacks up every single morning between NEBO ROAD and HIRAM SUDIE ROAD due to the incorrect timing of the traffic light at Hiram Sudie !! Who else besides me gets SICK AND TIRED of stopping at Pirate Printing, and creeping toward Hiram Sudie stacked in like sardines every morning ???? PLEASE PAY ATTENTION D.O.T. !!!! Correct this issue immediately !!

CALLING ALL CONCERNED CITIZENS !!!! DO YOUR HOMEWORK !!! Not to take up for the banks and merchants, but all of these fees that are coming back into banking, are caused by our "FRIENDS" in Washington, D.C. once again !! Research the "DODD-FRANK ACT" and the "DURBIN AMENDMENT". These pieces of legislation 'hide' as Consumer Protection acts; when in fact, Visa, Mastercard, the banks, and the merchants are forced to raise fees and prices of services and goods to make up for the revenue that our "intelligent" legislators have stripped away. These legislators think that by limiting the amou

I work in the financial services industry , and the number of these type scams we see here in Paulding County is growing rapidly by the day ! I do not recommend selling anything on the internet, especially on Craigslist. If you must sell on the net, make certain the buyer is local. Ask for proof of residency (utility bill, etc), and either escort them to the bank and watch them buy a legitimate official check , or take cash in hand with a signed, notarized Bill of Sale. Never negotiate with anyone who wants to pay MORE than the sales price, and they then offer to have the item "pic

What good is a 15 minute add-on going to do for our children, when they have missed entire DAYS of instructional time in the classrooms ?? It's all about "show and tell" .... schools have a 'mandated' number of hours that must be completed by the end of the year, and now they are "showing" that they can squeeze those hours into each day without any real quality time made up for lost instructional time. POOR solution. We've lost sight of true instructional time in our education system today. It's more about test scores, and the portrayed "image" of the school than it is about true appli
