  1. The name of the company got removed from the title of this thread. If you are referring to an WAH company called WEST they are totally legit.

But...you know the saying....the inmates are running the asylum? Well, that's them....they are quite dysfunctional, but if you can put up with all their little quirks --- you will get a steady paycheck from them.

So did you work for them?

  2. Wow I wish I knew that there were so many of yall on here that do it for free before we paid 80 $$ to have our mortgage papers notorized . The guy charged us way too much !!

WOW that does sound like a lot. Sorry about that

  3. I worked for West Asset Managment (which is a division of West Inc.) they are completely legit and are a good company. I managed a peice of their "at home agents" for a period of time. They are very picky (for good reason) but no need to be scared of them. Check out Clark Howard's web site as they are listed on his "work at home" companies he approves of.

Thanks for that info, it helps

  4. I am one.

I log every thing. I just have a binder. In there it has the date- the name of the person, the type of document, the ss or dl number and their signature. I even work with family and they all have to do it! Check their id- Two proofs.

Document everything. It is so you will not get burned

    [/quote

Thats a good idea, with the binder, instead of the notary book. Thanks

  5. Here is the advice we have been given at our law firm: NEVER sign a document where you don't actually witness the person actually signing the document. And, unless you know the person, ALWAYS ask for identification.

    Thanks for the Advice.

  6. If you decide to do the west at home thing, remember to disable call waiting, caller id etc. It screws up their program somehow, and they will ban you from using their service.

After you fill out their initial online forms and aptitude test, give them your SSN# and stuff, you will get an email from them after about 2 weeks or so to schedule a phone interview with them.

Once you go through all that jazz, you are free to sign up and try to find a shift available. these job postings are first come-first served.

A friend of mine has a co-worker who has done WAH for over a year, and claims it to be legit.

Ya I finshed the online process today and just waiting for the call. I hope it works out. I am only looking to do it at night for a few hours, but we will see. Thanks

  7. Try calling the Clerk of Courts, which, if I'm not mistaken is where we notaries get our certificates from. Also, try calling the Secretary of State's office. You may get different answers, but they may possibly be more reliable that what you'll get here on P.Com. (No offense to all my fellow notaries here.)

And, like many other notaries on here, I've never, ever charged to put a stamp and a signature on a document for anyone.

Thanks again for all the help, I will look into that

  8. A friend of mine works for this company and says she works at night after her day job. She dont make a ton of money but just enough speeding money. Anyone else have any comments on this company?

(the original title said 'West at Home')

  9. Unless you have a law degree and have passed the Bar, you cannot do this. I have worked with attorneys for almost 30 years and there is no way this can be done legally in the State of Georgia unless you are an attorney. I promise, I am not trying to be bossy, I just don't want you to get in trouble.

I was told by The NNA to do closing documents for property’s, you must have an attorney present. But for like quitclaim deeds and other things a signing agent can do that. I am so confused. I am getting so many different answers and not sure what to do now.

  10. OCGA 45-17-11 states:

A notary public may charge a fee for providing notarial services, but not more than the following stated fees:

    $2 for an acknowledgment

    $2 for administering an oath/affirmation

    $2 for any other certificate

It is against the law for any notary public to charge more than $4 for any notarial service performed. This would include the fee of $2 for performing the notarial act and a fee of $2 for certification of the notary's authority, which may be requested from the Clerk of Superior Court of the county in which the notary public was appointed.

The above is quoted from the Georgia Notary Handbook.

    Thanks for the info.

  11. Have you been to this website?

    http://www.gsccca.org/

You should also consider ordering the handbook for Georgia notaries - you can print the order form from the GSCCCA website.

P L E A S E educate yourself as to which documents can be notarized and which ones canNOT. I see notarized photocopies of birth certificates (NOT permissible), notaries who use a signature *stamp* instead of signing his/her name by hand (NOT acceptable), and notaries who certify stamped signatures (NOT acceptable). People become notaries without a glimmer of a clue as to what it involves - please don't be one of those people!

Thank you all for your advice. As a Notary I havent charge to sign simple forms. I work for an Attorney and do alot at work for free as well. But I was looking into doing closing documents and that kind of thing. I was told you could charge anywhere from 75$ - $150.00, But I am not sure how correct that is.

  12. I recently received my Notary stamp. I am just a basic Notary Public. And I am looking to take a course online to be a signing agent. I wanted to get some feedback on. What do you charge to do deeds and such things ? Can you refer me to a site that can offer the course? If anyone has any materials they would like to email me

(hsullins@gmail.com) that would be great, like the Georgia Notary handbook, and any helpful information I might need.

Thanks to you all, for reading my post.

  13. If you are looking for a small puppy, I have one. My 8 pound Chinese Crested Powderpuff Dog (nani) had 6 puppies on JAnuary 10. Thay are almost ready to go to a new home. I only have one left. The dad is a 10 pound Miniature Pinscher ( Dizzy). Both the mom and dad are lite bown, but all the puppies are black. The puppies look like a Miniature Pinscher. They are so cute. We call them Crested Pinschers. This dog will not be bigger than 10 pounds.

  14. Black dogs are often the last to be adopted.

I know there are some wonderful ones that are there. If you dont see one the first time make sure you check back as they get new shipments daily! :spiteful:

If you are still looking for a small puppy, I have one. My Chinese Crested Powderpuff Dog (nani) had 6 puppies on JAnuary 10. Thay are almost ready to go to a new home. I only have one left. The dad is a Miniature Pinscher ( Dizzy). Both the mom and dad are lite bown, but all the puppies are black. The puppies look like a Miniature Pinscher. They are so cute. We call them Crested Pinschers. Let me know if you want one.

  15. Anyone ever heard of this member? I got an email and cant find their member name, never heard of them, Truth for Freedom? It seems to be a group, but I cant find them on the members list but their site says they are a group out of Dallas. Any input?

I know him (truthforfreedom.com) aka Mario D"Andre Robinson. I am not sure if he a member here, but I do know he is a great guy. Are sons played football together a few years. Check out his website.

  16. Thank you all of you for your advice. I am sure it will be cold water but like I have said before my kids dont let cold water stop them from having fun. They really like to just chase the waves. I guess I didnt realize that alot of places would be closed during Feb. I hope we find enough things to do. I am renting a Pontoona Boat for the day for only $100. I figured we would do some snorkeling (once I find the gear) and look for shells and stuff. I would like to fish but we dont own any of that kind of stuff. Do they rent fishing pools and things? How much?

Whats this sunken ship thing people are talking about? Where is it at?

  17. The new Pier Park on the west side of PC Beach is super nice. Outdoor shopping and lots of restaurants.

About 30 miles west of PC is Destin, there is a hugh outdoor outlet mall over there. Plus a restaurant called Fudpuckers that is really kid friendly, http://www.fudpuckers.com/

across the street from Pier Park on the back side is a nice park. Lots of cool playground stuff and an indoor pool. softball fields.

hope you have a great time.

Thanks for the info. I cant wait to go

  18. There used to be a place called Shell Island that you could catch a boat ride to pretty cheap. It was a fun place to go and collect shells.

Also the Marina has cheap boat rides. If you wander over to Grayton Beach (15 miles down from PCB) there used to be a village called Pantrones that had goats, ducks and chickens just wondering around looking for handouts. That was free.

Thanks for the help. I think I will look into getting a pontoon Boat for the day and go from there. Are pontoon boats comfortable? I have no idea what that is?
