Unscheduled maintinance over
gpatt0n replied to gpatt0n's topic in Welcome and learn about the NEW Paulding.com
I haven't had the opportunity to post those who were suspended. Sorry but I was working under a sort of a deadline and it was not like the rest of world stopped too At this point, I think it important for folks to understand that the actions were arbitrary and if the bickering continues; more may find themselves arbitrarily corralled. Patience can't help but be thin ... but folks thanks for the support. pubby -
Unscheduled maintinance over
gpatt0n replied to gpatt0n's topic in Welcome and learn about the NEW Paulding.com
For the record, people need to be responsible for themselves. It is up to each of us to get along with others. Choose to get along rather than fight. thanks, pubby -
Spiffin things up a bit Paulding.com is a community. Communities require a certain veneer of civility to exist and prosper. There have been a few folks, who for a variety of acts and reasons, have been disturbing the peace in one of many different ways. Fingers point all different sorts of way and the real effort has been to create confusion. Still, things are out of line. One was the posting of content that was inappropriate even in our most private conflict forum which is a public forum protected from presentation on the recent topics page by password ... but little

absolutely: Remember I was out all morning and just walked back in on this conglomeration. I have no idea who is guilty and who is not. I'm sitting here alone, hungry, angry and irritated knowing I've got a ton of other stuff I'd rather be doing than sorting out who hurt whose feelings first ... I'm going to go get something to eat and I'll be back. The vote is moot now, BTW, as it contemplated a 12:30 pm darktime and it is not 1:00 ... the site went dark all on its own. pubby

speak of the devil ... we crashed ... posting from the test site. pubby Ladies... maybe but what happens at 3 p.m. when I have to go get my kid and the idiots start a new rampage. Is guilt by association the key? Who expects me to nail every account with a sheep in it closed? How about a wolf in it? I can't do that. I won't do that. You've decided to divide and expect me to take sides when I know damn good and well that no one is 'right' and everybody, to one degree or another, is wrong. Perfection eludes us all whether we want to admit it or not.

I've noticed that too. Seems the issue is that when they put the innards from the main server into the 2U box (a long flat pretty narrow computer case) kind of like a rack stereo component, the 3.2ghz dual PIV chip is overheating. Yep, to hot to handle and the fan on the chip is just not doing the job. We've ordered another 'new' fan for the chip that is supposed to fix this issue and it should be in by the middle of next week. Anyway, heat issues are at the core of the site being flakey ... and we are still looking toward another improvement from adding the third machi

That's because this is the test site and if you look in the addressbar, it shows the domain as 69.61.67.179 instead of Paulding.com ... This is in an internal configuration issue ... it doesn't want to recogize test.paulding.com ... and I don't know how to fix it. Haven't had a reason to for that matter. But it is nothing to worry about. pubby

We've got three servers up and running but they folks at the colo place, in typical fashion, figured they could do the whole thing ... they couldn't. As GURU C Watkins is at his real job today, we won't be able to use the full power of our new site until he comes back from the depths of corporate America. Oh well, we've spiffed up the newest, baddest server we got as the host for test.paulding.com ... but that won't do much good yet. I'll be doing some of the hacker majic I'm capable of on the current site but it may crash under the weight of the entire public ... but again

Site instability ... third crash today
gpatt0n replied to gpatt0n's topic in Welcome and learn about the NEW Paulding.com
Madea: check the pink, orange or tonk for a notice about a special backup for paid pcom members. pubby -
Paulding.com's main server should be revived again here shortly ... but know that we all know this is the third time the site has crashed today (10/31/06) Apparently the http:// server is suffering some heat issues in its case and the folks at the colo site are going to have to fix that. Oh well, the site remains fine and intact. If you recall the history, the whole site, less images and the like, is available. Me making this post is proof of that. pubby

It does appear to speed us up some ... although I have noticed a drop off in the number of guests as well as an increase in the number of people signed on. I suspect that some of the guests were using the recent topics page just signed on (thus the increase in percent of members signed on) so they could use the recent topics.... and a few just went away. Oh well, the best news is that there is an increase in performance of the site as measured by the number of banners being shown. they're up and the overall site load is down. pubby

Paulding.com is expanding its server farm but on the advice of our 'guru advisor' Chris Watkins, we eliminated the ability to use the site's search tool. This means that guests are not able to use the recent topics links. The good news is that registration is free and even basic members are able to use search and the recent topic button. The better news is that with all the guests not being able to use search, the site will speed up for the registered and premium members. pubby

I am now in contact with server support at the colo site and we are determining the nature of the issue and its resolution. It may require the replacement of a server (fortunately we have one close by about ready to be put into the mix) but the main thing is that the site remains up and running on at least six cylinders. The site's database is still rocking. pubby

At the request of the family I am adding these photos of Trey and Lauren Brown. May they rest in peace and may those whom they left behind, find peace as well. pubby
