  1. LMAO.. "the town is beautiful" Its an "enchanted wonderland" at Christmas? Seriously? LOL. What cracks me up is that beautification is not a reason to vote for someone. Dont get me wrong.. I LIKE HIM a lot as a person, and we could definitely have a lot worse of a mayor. So i am definitely not sure about the person running against him but that being said...

    1. Whats business like in the city of Dallas?

    2. Do we have any customers heading downtown to purchase, Drink, Eat, or simply to Grab a book and read while using any of the downtown businesses?

    3. Whats happening to bring more business downtown?

These are the important stuff. Not how pretty it is. With businesses fleeing and closing because there is no parking close, no restaurants that bring folks into the city, No businesses adding employees to bring money there.. its not gotten as far as it should have by now. Basically... HIRAM is kicking Dallas' Butt every year in Tax revenue and in serving its citizens without property taxes on their homes...

I'm still with Boyd but I would like to see Dallas Grow business and bring money from other places downtown and help bring people downtown to "see how beautiful" and "wonderlandish" it is.

Animal, Im not attacking you at all, but you have to admit.... That was sorta silly reasoning.

I'd agree that we need a bit more "life" downtown (allowing outdoor drinking would be a start), but to yearn to be more like Hiram is misguided, imo. I have no interest in becoming a town known for it's strip malls.

  2. The Earth is 4.5 billion years old. To insinuate that because a scientist's claim is even 50 years off the mark it is untrue is akin to insinuating that someone arriving to your house .00000001 seconds later than they said they'd be is somehow not a punctual person.

I mean these scientists are able to recreate the effects of carbon emissions on the atmosphere in a lab environment...and yet folks deny its existence. And yet something like the rapture, something based 100% on myth and completely unable to pass any scientific test, is somehow believable.

There's an ulterior motive in place and I'm not sure where it comes from.....does the acceptance of man-made climate change somehow conflict with heartfelt religious views, is it a political thing, is it a matter of not trusting the scientific method, is it simple brainwashing accomplished by corporate interests? I mean there has to be a reason that one would choose to be so blind to a life/death issue that is staring them in the face. It's like pretending that an 8ft grizzly isn't standing 3ft away from you while you poke her cub with a stick.

  3. Posting for a friend who is looking for a telecommunications job. He has excellent references and is very dependable. Please let me know if anyone heres of any jobs.

    Thanks in advance

Does he mind commuting downtown? If you have a resume, PM it to me.... I'm not sure but I think our NOC is hiring. I can forward on the resume to the NOC manager if his qualifications seem to fit and they're still hiring. I work for a large CDN and broadband wholesale company...we have a transport backbone NOC and an IP NOC in Atlanta.

  4. I was there today too. Can't say I am surprised. The Paulding County Republican Party had a Resolution last Saturday that called for the passage of this bill. Amazing that a dead Bill can show so much life!!

The local GOP is endorsing Sunday sales in Paulding? If so, I'm impressed!

  5. If you EVER vote based on a letter of the alphabet following a candidate's name, you should be publicly certified as STUPID.

    :yahoo:

And that's what's so frustrating about her beating Will....it absolutely proved, beyond a doubt, that folks voted because of the letter after her name. There is no way that 7 folks out of 10 could listen to each candidate speak, or even just watch the PCom "debate", and determine that Paulette was the better candidate. I know you think my opinion is skewed because of my politics but, really, one candidate was informed, well-spoken, and visible while the other hid on imaginary vacations and depended on that mighty "R".

  6. The same thing we get when we elect someone just because there is a D after his or her name.

Very true....I was hoping the voters of the 19th would overcome that trend and vote for the candidate who could actually speak to the issues and understood the legislative process and how to use that process to our advantage.

  7. To be fair, the law has been upheld in other federal courts. The judge that presides over this court is a Bush appointee and the justice department fully expected this decision from him. It will go to SCOTUS eventually as y'all have said. Considering the commerce clause is used in all kinds of shady ways it wouldn't surprise me if this law was allowed to stand....though this is the same SCOTUS who took Citizens United and turned our elections into a corporate bidding war, so who knows?

  8. It's not BS. Plenty of stimulus $ went to Unions, the only reason we got any work is because there is no union in Georgia for our trade. It cost us 30% more in labor than any other job we have done, we still had to pay "prevailing wage", that is what the government decided it should be.

Well, we lost our shirts on the job but we managed to keep 1 crew and 6 other employees from getting laid off. Considering the government managed to virtually shut down all construction for the last 4 years.

My kids are grown, I don't have any in school. ;)

But you're A-OK with the Citizens United decision?

  9. Bit my tongue during this last campaign for House Dist. 19 and did not engage the partisan hucksters,to defend my friend, Rep.Elect,Paulette Rakestraw Braddock. Paulette along with her family, friends and supporters endured a barrage of negative, hateful and ridiculous attacks during this mean season of campaigning. Many of them were allowed to be posted without merit, right here on this cyber-rag excuse for media, Pubby calls paulding.com. However, to her credit, she encouraged us all not to get in the mud with the rest of you, and for her sake, we refrained from comment and defense. However, the election is over now and thankfully, common sense prevailed, and she is going to be not only an historical Rep. for Paulding, (as the first woman to hold this seat), but a true leader who will fight for her constituents and bring conservative ideals to the House. Those who know her persoanlly, know a bright, funny, engaging lady who while not perfect, is simply...nice! It has been said that "into each life, a little rain must fall" and Paulette like us all, has had her share. However, most of us have not had our darkest hours plastered all over two-bit media sources, for the community to manipulate with half truths and to apply tortured analysis to. Yes, there has been rain but with Paulette's election, the sun will shine once more for Paulding. Thank you to those who endured the long lines to vote for my friend and for your future. :yahoo:

I was going to say "hello Ms. Braddock" but then I deduced that you couldn't possibly be her considering your ability to write a sentence...I suppose this means that you aren't the friend who edited her website either?

Tell your "nice" friend that being "nice" won't get this county anywhere. She better go after that Dome and dollars like they're her ex-husband.

  10. Feelip:

Henry Mencken once said, "No one ever went broke underestimating the intelligence of the American public." I think you simply over-estimated the voters in the 19th in making yoru prediction. I think I did.

Not living in the 19th, could someone tell me if there was a mailer sent out with her beautiful mugshots plastered all over the front? If not, why not? While I've never believed that this county is full of the most reasonable voters in the nation, I fully believe that 2 separate mugshots of a candidate has a way of swaying all but the voters who are partisans to a fault. The voters of the 19th should absolutely be embarrassed and, unfortunately, I'm sure many of them would be embarrassed if they actually knew who they just elected.

  11. This was Neal Bortz take on the Barnes adds and accusations. He hits the nail right on the head:

Now what DOESN'T Barnes' ad tell you? Well ... let's see:

    · The U.S. Constitution guarantees to the accused the right to confront all witnesses against him. That means that an accused rapists' trial lawyer gets to ask testimony of the rape victim under oath. Roy Barnes is a trial lawyer. He knows this.

    · Barnes' ad is based on work by Nathan Deal to conform the rules of evidence in Georgia with the federal rules of evidence. This has been done in 42 of the 50 states.

    · Roy Barnes served on the Georgia State Bar Evidence Committee during the time the Georgia rules of evidence were being reviewed and approved the very legislation that he is slamming Deal for supporting.

    · Roy Barnes was a trial lawyer ... he defended criminals

    · Nathan Deal was a prosecutor .. he put rapists in prison.

This really speaks to the character of Roy Barnes. Can you stoop much lower than suggesting to Georgia women that they will end up being violently attacked, abducted, raped and .. who knows? ... possibly killed if they vote for his opponent?

Let me be clear, I'm no fan of the ad. I hate these kinds of campaigns. With that said, there is no doubt a legislative record indicating that Deal has not been supportive of several bills aiming to assist women.
