So, I'm going to assume you don't have a problem with Hillary and her desire to amend the Second Amendment, the right to bear arms?

The wording of the Second Amendment has long made the extent of gun ownership rights a point of contention:

"A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed."

Questioned by George Stephanopoulos about her view of the amendment, Clinton talked about a "nuanced reading" and emphasized her belief in the rights of local, state and federal governments to regulate gun ownership. Stephanopoulos, formerly a top aide to President Bill Clinton, wasn't satisfied by the response.

"That's not what I asked," he replied.

Clinton then discussed the right to own a gun as a hypothetical. "If it is a constitutional right," she began her next answer, "then it - like every other constitutional right - is subject to reasonable regulations."

    http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/nationworld/ct-hillary-clinton-second-amendment-20160605-story.html

Regulating sales of arms and ammunition is not the same as stripping away the 2nd amendment. Over 70% of NRA members are in favor of universal background checks and yet, for some reason, it can't get through Congress.

Which militia do you belong to?

The truth is that no matter what I type in this box... your mind is set in stone.

Really, why should I waste my time ? ? ? You do not really seek an answer,

just another opportunity to argue the political opposition and feel superior...

Google is your friend.... very first result : (#wowthatwaseasy)

    https://www.donaldjtrump.com/positions/us-china-trade-reform

Further information is available at your local library... :)

(They also have many books about Hillary Clinton.)

    From your link:

When Donald J. Trump is president, China will be on notice that America is back in the global leadership business and that their days of currency manipulation and cheating are over. We will cut a better deal with China that helps American businesses and workers compete.

The Trump Plan Will Achieve The Following Goals:

    1. Bring China to the bargaining table by immediately declaring it a currency manipulator.
    2. Protect American ingenuity and investment by forcing China to uphold intellectual property laws and stop their unfair and unlawful practice of forcing U.S. companies to share proprietary technology with Chinese competitors as a condition of entry to China’s market.
    3. Reclaim millions of American jobs and reviving American manufacturing by putting an end to China’s illegal export subsidies and lax labor and environmental standards. No more sweatshops or pollution havens stealing jobs from American workers.
    4. Strengthen our negotiating position by lowering our corporate tax rate to keep American companies and jobs here at home, attacking our debt and deficit so China cannot use financial blackmail against us, and bolstering the U.S. military presence in the East and South China Seas to discourage Chinese adventurism.

Again, like I said, his "plan" is no different from anything that's been done by the US government over the course of years. I find it hilarious that Trump thinks he just has the power to walk into a room and everyone will bow at his feet. China will laugh in his face. Under a hypothetical Trump administration, why would the Chinese listen to a President that is despised by both major American political parties? They will believe, correctly, that he has no power being Congress will not have his back. And what will thin-skinned Donald's reaction be? An all out trade war.

The guy talks cheeze. That's all he does.

Mr.Trump has been writing about China artificially devaluing their

currency for years, and he has proposed detailed policy solutions.

Obama's policy has been to bend over and ask for more lubricant.

It's a shame that people do not bother to read books anymore...

    8)

You're right, I've never read a book about or by Donald Trump. I haven't read books about or by Kim Kardashian, Snookie, or any other reality TV star either.

So being you have read "every book about Trump", please articulate his stance on China for us. You seem to believe strongly in your candidate..wow us with his wisdom, please!!! What's he going to do?!?

If you really want to have a discussion of Trump's policy proposals,

you must start with his actual positions, instead of the twisted straw

    man caricatures listed above.

I would welcome a discussion of the issues : Let's start with how China

devalues it's currency and their widespread use of corporate espionage.

And how both of these practices damage the US economy...

    8)

Chinese currency devaluation has been something the US has been fighting for years; this isn't something "yuge" that Trump just figured out. Oddly, there's still much disagreement whether an artificially weak yuan actually has any negative impacts on overall trade.

Corporate espionage is obviously an issue and the US has been, again, fighting that battle behind closed doors for years...democrats and republicans alike. Other than Trump's big talk about him being a "deal-maker", I'm not exactly clear what it is he's going to do differently other than encourage an all-out trade war. Obviously, a trade war between China and the US would have much worse global economic ramifications than any corporate espionage has ever dreamed of doing.

So that's one issue and his policy, if you can call it that, is to start trade wars. What's his policy on Putin? North Korea? Syria? Saudi Arabia? Chinese artificial islands? Taiwan? Let me guess.....he makes deals....they'll work with him.

  5. Is that why Kennedy cut taxes same as Reagan did? Is that why Obama extended the "Bush" tax cuts?

You still don't understand how tax cuts, when done properly (and it isn't always) can't stimulate economic growth. But you never will learn by reading your hard left sites.

So much wrong here, GD....so much wrong.

Liberals, most of which are believers in Keynesian economic theory, are absolutely in favor of tax cuts to spur on a sluggish economy. The difference between Keynesians and Tea Party-brand economics is that Keynesians believe you reinstate higher tax rates during periods of prosperity to not only tame growth and the capitalist monster but to also "save for a rainy day". Supply-side, "voodoo", economic theory says to always keep taxes low. Supply side, in the history of humankind, has never proven to work. Keynesian economics carried us through some of the most prosperous times in American history.

  6. Let's move the conversation to policy instead of who lies the most.

    What are Trumps policies?

*start a trade war with China

*Putin is a good guy so apparently we're going to embrace Putin and his human rights abuses as a close ally. That'll go over well with NATO.

*He's going to deport millions of illegals. He hasn't explained how this will be paid for, how these folks will be identified, but they're going to be expelled.

*He's going to build a wall on our Southern border. Mexico has said they aren't going to pay for it. Trump says they are. Apparently he's a dealmaker so we should trust him.

*He's going to ban Muslims from entering the country. Again, not sure how he's going to pay for this nor how he will identify Muslims at airports.

*He's in favor of unprecedented tax cuts for the wealthy. Economists have laughed at his plan and will laugh more when the price tags for his other xenophobic plans are exposed.

*Though he dodged the draft, he's keen on flexing American muscle around the globe. Haven't we had enough war over the last decade and a half?

*The one policy he's been especially clear on is that he will look to change the libel laws to make it easier for public figures, like him, to sue the press. Pesky 1st amendment be damned.

*We don't know any other policies because the only thing he does at his rallies is talk about walls, trade wars, Muslims, "making America great again" (whatever that means), and making childish statements about his opponents. He sure as hell didn't talk policy in the GOP debates so you're guess is as good as mine when it comes to the rest of his platform.

I'm seriously dumbfounded and embarrassed as an American that Donald Trump is the GOP nominee for President of the United States and leader of the free world. An entertainer on reality television. A guy with failed marriage after failed marriage. A guy who is as bigoted as they come toward women and minorities. A guy who doesn't know how to use a computer in 2016. A guy who gets into "twitter wars". A guy who has used the bankruptcy laws in this country to hurt employees while he walks away richer. A guy who has never lived a day in his life and faced the struggles average people deal with. A guy who claims to be worth $4B but is not into philanthropy in the least. A guy who has an amazing history of vindictiveness and pettiness (small fingers?). And there are people defending him!!!! People who vote for this walking Orange Julius ad should have to list their name publicly so the rest of us know who the idiots are amongst our peers and in our communities.

  7. Trump has executive experience.

Which is about the only thing I like about him.

I guess I should have added "branch"....it's sort of implicit but I'll add it for you.

Ahhh, so a "good Republican" is one that agrees with you.

In this case "good" means "sane". Agreement with me has nothing to do with the conversation....none of those sane Republicans in this thread will be voting for the same candidate as I will.

  8. Haven't been around in quite a while but got to reading this thread. Over the years debating many of you about politics, it was always easy to distinguish the GOP partisan hacks and those who actually used some common sense to form their own opinions. This thread really shows that nothing has changed. Props to those folks, good Republicans, who recognize that the GOP nominee is not fit for office. It's okay to hate Hillary and not vote for her but it's admirable that some of you aren't going to vote Trump just because he has an R beside his name. Hopefully y'all are finding some solace in Gary Johnson's candidacy.

  9. And then, to almost rub it in, we have Google Fiber and AT&T's equivalent being rolled out in select areas throughout the metro Atlanta area (though the AT&T project is temporarily on hold). True gigabit ethernet, fiber to the home....for those of you not familiar with telecom, that's a 1000MB connection. Google is charging $120/mo for both gigE and TV service. While I recognize Paulding is pretty rural, our leadership should've atleast tried to qualify one of our cities to gain this service....it's a HUGE selling point to a lot of potential house-hunters, especially those with higher incomes and/or those who work, or run businesses, out of their homes.

  10. Thank you. That's how it works.

And the lawsuits I was talking about had to do with AT&T charging for the highest priced DSL while you were only getting the speed that was available in your area over copper. I don't care how much you pay, you can't make it any faster than it is.

You can only get real speed on fiber.

The 45mb service I have, essentially a DS3, is an electrical signal and can only be carried over copper. I refuse to believe they've dropped a DS3 at my home....while I may have dedicated lines to my home, I am sharing whatever bandwidth available at the DSLAM with other customers. It's the most efficient way for them to do it being you'd rarely have a group of customers all maxing out their bandwidth at once....I just feel that they're not allotting enough bandwidth for our particular neighborhood to share and then cover their own asses by saying, "well, we can't do anything until you're getting less than half of what you're paying for."

  11. I think he is right on track and doing what they all should be doing. He is no extremist. You support the extremist Obama and his administration.

Doing what they all should be doing? Voting "no" on any funding bill? The Tea Party way or the highway?

That's extremism....it's the definition of extremism in government. When you go to buy a car and lowball the dealer, do you adjust your position or do you stay with your first lowball offer, regardless of the fact you know that your price would cause him to lose money? How did you buy your home? Were there offers and counteroffers? Did you use negotiation with your children as a means of extracting reasonable compromises or were you a "my way or the highway" to your 5 year old kind of parent?

Negotiation and pragmatism, especially in a legislative setting, are imperatives. There is no room for ideologues in an environment that, for over 200 years, has thrived on give and take negotiations. You do realize that the "Tea Party Vision" only applies to less than 15% of the Amerian populace, right? So to imply that they "all should be doing" obstructionism to represent a slim population of voting Americans is BLATANTLY anti-patriotic and harmful to this nation.

Legislators are voted into office to get things done, not look good on campaign fliers.

  12. Even if you were texting someone to hire them to murder your spouse, anything the NSA collects is inadmissible in court. As far as TigerText or whatever, the government is collecting the actual data that is transmitted, not what is on your phone. Once you hit "send" on an email or text, the data is transmitted over the telecom infrastructure which the government is apparently monitoring.

  13. Want a project to start on?

I use my iPhone for biz. I have people texting me photos of projects and wanting quotes. Since those people are not already in my address book, their texts just show up with their phone number and I have no idea whose number is whose.

After 6 months or so, my text message files get pretty darn big. There is no way to organize the texts (that I have found) other than adding each of those inquiries to my phone book. And I really don't want to mix business/inquiries into my already overflowing contact book.

I'd like to be able to move the incoming texts to an "inbox" with the customer's last name on it so I can find it easily and not have to scroll through hundreds of incoming texts to find one that I need to work on. So I need a text message "tree" like Outlook has for emails. I'd like to be able to type a last name in the new app and drag and drop the messages into that folder, and possibly have any additional new texts be routed into the folder and have it highlited like Outlook does.

On your iPhone, if you get a text from a potential customer and you know their name, you can hit the "edit" button in the top right of the message, select the specific part of the message that you want, and then hit "forward" at the bottom of the screen to email the message. If you were to email the message to your Outlook, you could then organize the messages in Outlook.

CPTL...we have a pretty big IT department at my company (telecom) but I'm pretty sure most of it is in Denver or overseas...I'll have a look at job postings for the ATL office tomorrow and let you know if anything fits what you're looking for.

  14. Dang! Sorry to hear about the pull cord coming off. Those are a PAIN to fix!! (I would have been happy to have fixed it for you though, had you just called me) ;) I'll have to admit, I learned a valuable lesson over the years....I should have done all this all by myself. I have hired some younger guys to teach them the ropes on repairing things like this. It seemed like a good thing to do to help young men learn a trade. Only problem was that when season was WIDE OPEN, I think I put too much trust in them and didn't always have time to stand over their shoulders and watch them. This has come back to bite me in the butt a few times. However, I have made GOOD on any such problems, even though it put me in the red. It's a live and learn thing, and I have decided that I am doing all repairs and rebuilds MYSELF, totally on my own from now on. If it gets too busy, then it may take longer to get things done, and I'll put in longer hours in my days - or I'll offer them the option of referring them two other guys in this business who might can get to it faster. I'm not trying to slam the young bucks I was teaching, because I know they did their best. However, there are so many "tricks" to things that it literally takes YEARS to learn them....even something as simple as re-stringing a weed eater- which is really NOT simple at all if it's done right. There are too many customers complaining about other shops that the last thing I want is someone who is not happy with my work. And the only way I can fix that problem is to do all the work myself. Not to say that I don't make mistakes myself, but I do have 40 years of experience that most people don't. That sort of "ups" the odds of no mistakes if I handle it on my own. ;)

I hope you didn't think I was dinging your work....I wasn't. The thing ran like a champ but, when you buy used things, you accept that there's a risk of it not lasting as long as a brand new item. You actually did offer to fix it up for me but I never made it down your way.

  15. That explains what the hell I saw on my way home a while ago. Two sheriff's cars had their sirens on, bolted up 61N but then turned off their lights then were turning them on randomly stopping vehicles...not like pulling them over, just stopping them like they were telling them something when pulled up beside them. Really erratic behavior on their part but I can only assume they were probably looking for this driver (it was 2 SUVs I saw them stop for sure).

  16. I'm kind of confused how this works. Like we went to "Meet the Pack" at NPHS a few weeks back and they had a prayer before the game given by the minister from the church that feeds the players every Friday. I mean I'm not a religious guy so wasn't a big fan but I still stood up and bowed my head to respect those who are and certainly to be respectful of the man representing the church that does a great thing for the kids. But it still left me wondering why that was allowed and yet for "official" games, they can't do the same. Is it strictly GHSA or is it supposed to any public school event?

  17. No 08 - 09. He released 10 and 11.

Great point. Surely you can appreciate how some would have concern over one of the two possibilities I laid out being true. I'm really leaning toward him having received amnesty from the IRS. The guy knew in '08 he was going to run again this year and has said that he paid atleast 13% in taxes each year so, if you take him at his word, the IRS could have really put him in a bind when UBS turned over their records. He either takes the amnesty and refuses to release his returns this election or he refuses amnesty and faces open-to-the-public prosecution for tax evasion. The former could be the path he's chosen.

    mrnn

  18. Really??? Don't ya think the IRS would be after him if he had done anything Illegal? And YES on being the next President, anything but that dip chit we have as acting President..

That's the thing...they very well could have been onto him. The IRS offered amnesty to tax evaders with accounts at Swiss bank UBS in 2009. The amnesty included no criminal prosecution, small penalties, and confidentiality.

Look at it this way....he ran for president in '08 so we know he likely had his taxes in order then...so what happened between '08 and '12? There are really only one of two things that could've happened that would be so bad that he would refuse to release his tax returns....either he received amnesty or, due to stock losses in '08, he paid no federal income tax in '09.

Something is there. He's ignored calls from within his own party to put this to rest. The longer he allows this issue to pester, the worse it will become for him.
