  1. We owe it to the men and women that sacrificed to give us what we have.

What if it was a former klansman that had killed a black college student in Missippi in the '60s? Would you still not want to spend the money to have him go to trial?

Do you think we should release Brian Nichols because it is costing too much?

These are recent situations.. And yes I think there has been WAY too much spent on Nichols. But his crimes were committed in the USA so I do not have a problem paying for his prosecution. Again I ask HOW does the action against this man for alleged crimes not committed in the US benefit the people footing the bill. And to even try to associate the topic at hand with Nichols or hate crimes in the 60s tells me you must not be the studious one.

  2. You're kidding, right?

I am guessing you were born in 1984 and was not much of a history student.

Do you have any idea of the sacrifices that were made, not only by soldiers, but by virtually every citizen of this country to stop the Nazis? People did without. Without gas, without sugar, without food (the term Victory Garden was coined during this war because people grew their own vegetables to be able to send more food to the troops).

For someone to say "ah hell, let him go, it's not worth the money" is a lazy-assed attitude to have. Good men and women died trying to stop this piece of sh*t and I'll be damned if I would let the S.O.B. see the sun come up tomorrow if I had a vote.

No I was born in 1966 and was an above average history student. I have also been a tax payer for 25+ years. I don’t know you but I would venture to say you were not making any sacrifices at that time nor was I. I have watched as the government of this country squanders billions of tax revenue on projects that do not have any benefit to the citizens. Be it sending money do darfur, or spending millions on ken star’s investigation into Clintons romps with Monica at the white house. But when it comes time to invest in this country’s safety, infrastructure, ECT. There is never enough money. Like I said I am not defending the man. I am tired of the government wasting money on projects that have no direct benefit to those who foot the bill in the first place. The American tax payer.

SO all I am saying about this deportation situation is……. How does it benefit the people who are paying for it?

  3. Here, Orrby, this is what that "poor" man helped with.

    I don't care if he was 5.

He still took part in it.

    The article states that :

Henss joined the Hitler Youth organization in Germany in 1934 as a 12 or 13-year-old boy and joined the Nazi Party in September 1940. This makes him 18 or 19 years old and fully aware of what he was doing.

In early 1941, Henss volunteered to serve in the Waffen SS and became an SS dog handler in 1942 after serving in the elite Waffen SS combat unit “Leibstandarte SS Adolf Hitler.”

Investigators also said that Henss taught other concentration camp guards at Dachau and Buchwenwald how to use attack dogs to guard prisoners and prevent their escape.

Why are we wasting our resources to deport an 80 something year old man who may have committed crimes “not even in this country” 50+ years ago? Is he a threat to our society today? I don’t think so. Why are we not focusing on deporting the ones that are in the country illegally and committing crimes against Americans on American soil? I am not condoning this man or his alleged actions. I fail to see how this action and its cost are beneficial to today’s tax paying citizens. The end does not justify the means here. It looks like to me this is just more feel good action by the government to take the spotlight off of more pressing issues. AGAIN I AM NOT DEFENDING THE MAN. I just wish the government would pursue deportation of other foreign law breakers as aggressively as this they did this man.

  4. I witnessed something like this one time, I called the police station nd they said I didn't know the whole story and blew me off. I know what I saw, the guy had is hands in the air and I don't think he spoke English. Unbelievable. -_-

Yes it is… unbelievable. The fact that some people come to this country not knowing any English, get into a situation where they find themselves on the receiving end of instructions from English speaking authorities and then do not understand the consequences of not obeying a lawful command. UNBELIEVABLE.

  5. That is why i shoot to kill, they cant sue you if they are dead.

“shoot to kill” make that statement in an interview or on the stand and you are done regardless of the circumstances. You NEVER shoot to kill; you shoot to stop an imminent threat. Now just because they die from a .357 sig round between the eyes….oh well. ;)

  6. Here are the headlines for today about Africa/African region:

Why is this part of the world always in such upheaval? Why do we have so much and they have so little? If everyone else in the world that wasn't displaced donated $1, could we fix the situation? If you have something racist to say, please don't. I don't care what color they are, a hungry child is a hungry child.

As much as I hate to say it, the laws of natural selection come into play in the human realm also. When you start messing with the chlorine in the gene pool it throws everything off kilter. We cannot and should not be the world’s savior.

But by all means if you want to help them, feel free.

  7. Must be a good guy if you are looking out for the folks. ;)

 I keep asking my cousins when I get to see them on Cops (but they keep saying Disney won't allow it! ).

Well I was blessed with good parents. I would not be where I am today without them. i'm glad to be able to give something back. I owe them that much. :)

I’m the kind of person, I see the cameras coming I go the other way. I hope “cops” stays away from my dept.

  8. Thanks! And I truly mean that. I have an undying respect and love for law enforcement officers. Where in FL? My cousin and her husband are both Orange County deputies.

I work in the panhandle.. I would love to work in south fl. but at the moment I am stuck where I am. It is a close commute to Dallas where my folks live. They are getting up in age with some health issues that require me to stay kind of close. I also worked at a department in Kansas for four years.

  9. Ditto on the Paulding issues. ;)And, you are welcome. Just didn't know why they were arguing so hard over the issue. ;) Just checking your back. And, I'm guessing now, but maybe you are a police officer. And, I truly applaud what you do. When you remove someone from from the roadway that presents as described, you have done your job. And, if they are off the road, you've done a good one. :)I actually sat on a jury for a DUI many years ago. Sadly, the Dallas PO did not "dot all the i's and cross all the t's".

Yep 20+ years. At present a Florida Deputy Sheriff. 13 years in the Atlanta area. Ok well it wasn’t the Atlanta area then, Cherokee/Woodstock. The majority of time working in traffic/ D.U.I units. And thanks for the good words.

  10. To those of you who are arguing this so hard . . . you do realize that a good majority of DUI cases are never even presented to a judge right? A good portion of them are pled out before they ever get that far. The two of you can argue with her all night, but at the end of the day, those "minimums" you keep typing, just don't apply.

I know first hand the passions regarding the aftermath of a DUI, but I also understand the process.

You are right. Most of my cases plea. A well presented case rarely goes to trial.

  11. Not necessarily.

For example---I have a grown son that has had muscle problems in both eyes since birth. He went through many years of wearing bifocals in his youth to correct this. He still has problems if he is sick or very tired. His eyes will cross at these times, slightly. He would fail any kind of eye test on the side of the road and not have had one drink. All we would have to do is provide proof of this, from the pediatric opthomologist he saw from the age of 2 to 18.

Not to mention the presence of a strong odor indicative of alcohol consumption on his breath, the open container who’s contents is cooler than ambient temperature and the cooler in the seat full of the same AND he has peed his pants. All good signs the driver may be impaired. :o

Well before I perform the HGN evaluation I would ask if he had any eye condition, an answer in the affirmative would be taken into consideration. The same with as the one leg stand, I always ask about any medical history prior to requesting a subject to perform any roadside evaluation exercise.

  13. As in the other post---suspension only begins after the conviction.

I do believe that part of the reasoning in refusing the roadside test is the fact that if you only had 2 drinks with dinner, got pulled over after leaving the restraurant, then you could possible "blow" high enough on the road for a DUI---wait it out and take the test at the station (if you can stand the chauffered ride in the car with the pretty blue lights) and maybe you will blow less, since some time has passed. Or at least that is how it has been explained to me.

The reason attorneys advise folks not to do the roadside sobriety evaluations is this

If a defendant comes to you wanting representation on a dui charge he does not want to be put on the spot in court when the video is presented. How do you explain not being able to follow directions? How do you explain not having basic coordination? How do you explain the intelligible speech when he has no known impediments? How do you explain not knowing the alphabet when you graduated high school? How do you explain not knowing the year? Etc.etc.

Unless there is a state test refusal. Then you have an administrative suspension under implied consent

  15.

"6. Should I take the field sobriety tests if I get pulled over?

No. But be polite about it, you are most likely being recorded. These tests are voluntary, so I advise clients not to take them under any circumstances."

It looks like you copied and paste this from another site but you appear to make it your own. You state in another topic that you work for an attorney, this post and statement would lead most to think that you are the attorney giving this information. You may want to give credit to the original source or qualify yourself. I am not saying the information is right or wrong I just question the source.

  16. Thanks, that looks like a pretty nice place, have you stayed before? And the rates are cheap!

ahhh! LOVE it! lol Does it have built in dvd players to keep the kiddos occupied on the long drive?

Yes I stay there often, usually pretty quiet this time of year. It is one of the last “mom and pop” places on the beach. I stay there just because of that. It still has that certain “charm” that all the new development is lacking.

  17. Only the State Administered test (at the Jail) is admissible in court anyway, everything else are just field test for the officer to determine if he has a case or not. The officer can ask the driver at the scene if he will comply with the State Testing, and a refusal at the scene is just as good as if it was done at the jail. Don't let attorneys get you in more trouble then you would have been in the first place, that's how they make more money!

I Go for blood, it always comes back higher than breath anyway. :D

  18. We are looking to go down for a few days in the next couple of weeks. Can anyone recommend an inexpensive place? Prefer on the beach, or across the street from the beach. Okaloosa Island would be nice, Navarre Beach, Seaside....really anywhere along the panhandle is open to us. We used to live in Navarre while hubby was stationed at Hurlburt (and I worked in Destin) so we are familiar with the area but haven't been back for a visit in a few years.

Any suggestions? Really looking for less than $100 a night if possible. I hate spending all our money for a place to sleep. I want to spend the money on doing fun stuff! However, don't want a roach motel either, lol

Also, are there any new routes opened up to get down there? Which is the fastest now?

panama city bch. usualy about 70.00 pr nite this time of year for on the beach. not bad not a 4 star place but....

I think 231 is 4 lane all the way from dothan now.

  19. Several weeks ago, I posted on here about my husband's truck being stolen. It has been recovered!!! Someone stole it and then sold it to someone else, who was using it as a work truck. Dekalb County pulled the guy over on Memorial Drive. He's in jail and our truck has been impounded in Lithonia.

No damage done to it at all!! They painted the primered door and took the lettering off the back windshield. They also put a "Chevrolet" sticker on the back tailgate. It's not a Chevrolet!! It's a GMC!!

Of course, the ladders, tool box, and tools were gone, but the truck was still in great condition. The guy who was driving it was either a plumber or electrition because all his tools were in the back.

What I don't understand is this. It was recovered on 08/15. Douglas County never bothered to notify us that it had been found. We could already have gotten it, but now it's going to cost quite a bit of money to get it back. The towing company sent us a certified letter to let us know they had it. I guess DC wasn't too interested in our truck.

Anyway--my husband's is very happy to have his truck back!!

How did you find out that dekalb had recovered it?

  20. My elderly MIL lives 350 feet from the street in front of her house. She has a handicap driving permit and she has applied to the local postmaster to have the postal carrier bring her mail up to her house. That seems simple enough, however the carrier refuses to drive down her driveway because she cannot turn around and must, instead, back out of the driveway. I think this is ridiculous but the local postmaster backed up the driver. To be fair, the driveway is difficult to back out of, kind of twisty, but nothing more than the average driver could handle. Not to mention that the driver could also (GASP! :o ) walk down the driveway to deliver the mail.

I always thought that postal carriers were professional drivers, and that they were required to have a commercial driver's license. Upon checking the USPS website, it looks like all they need is a regular driver's license and a good driving history. Am I wrong in thinking that the USPS should do what is right and deliver the mail despite the fact that the driver cannot "turn around" at the end of the drive?

To play devils advocate, the postal carrier is on a schedule. If it is a contract carrier as most are they use their personal vehicles and must maintain the insurance on them. I can understand them not wanting to put themselves in a position to increase the possibility of having an accident by backing out of the driveway. If the carrier does it for one then every person will want the same service. You stated that the MIL has a disabled person permit; this tells me that she is at least somewhat mobile, so the argument could be made that she could drive to the mailbox to retrieve her mail.

  21. This should be a #1 hit shortly:

The song will never be a #1 hit. Why?

Because the left wing media will inform the masses that the American people are cruel, selfish and intolerant of others that are “different from them” if they buy or listen to this song. That it is wrong to force someone to speak a language other than their own native language and that doing so violates their constitutional rights. That the song promotes racism. The ACLU will file suite against the singer for this atrocity and recommend reparation be made to these downtrodden people. The government will impose a “does not play well with others” tax on the singer while appointing a special prosecutor to investigate the artist to uncover any other acts of wrongdoing. Bush will visit with some of these illegal “guest” for a photo shoot but will not say a lot. With all of the bad press and financial liabilities incurred, the singer files bankruptcy, winds up in section 8 housing, on welfare and food stamps, just like the government wanted in the first place. America rallies, the song becomes the national anthem of sorts but the artist has dropped off of the radar so no royalties are paid, and the record company reports record profits.
