It's not about the government. 1. The government in this country is still determined by the people. The people get the government they deserve. Blame government = blame the people, especially the majority that don't vote and massive majority that don;t actively participate in issues. 2. Follow the money. This, like most policy issues in Washington DC, state and local governments, are about one or more industries trying to get laws passed in their favor, at the expense of personal liberties. In this case, the RIAA, Murdoch/FOX, Hollywood, et al, trying to poorly legislate what they

HR 3261 - CORPORATE GREED AT ITS WORST. AND MAKING CHINA CENSORSHIP LEGAL IN AMERICA. BOW TO YOUR CHINESE CORP COMMUNIST LEADERS Stop HR 3261 (SOPA) and S 968 (PIPA) Internet Blacklist Bills Congress needs to hear from you, or these dangerous bills will pass - they have tremendous lobbying dollars behind them, from large corporations reportedly hoping to prop up outdated, anti-consumer business models at the expense of the very fabric of the Internet -- recklessly unleashing a tsunami of take-down notices and litigation, and a Pandora's jar of "chilling effects" and other unintended

They are not moving anywhere. FWIW, carpet is one product that is generally more cost effective to produce here than overseas due to transport costs and tastes. It's the recession people. Banks and companies are holding on to cash and credit. Until they let go of the money and invest in jobs.. fuhgeddaboutit.

We were at the little park area between the Hiram firestation and the Silver Comet trailhead. While there, a lady readin a book on the far end came over to talk to my wife, asking her to come over away about 20' from where we were playing with the kids. She started with a hypothetical question: if it was strange if "somone" (i.e. her) was new to a city, looking for a job, had a guy pick her up and started paying for her bills but was verbally abusive. My wife, on guard, listened but gave her little other than "good advice" - never offering anything. The woman stuttered for words (as in sea

Don't let people like the above scare the rest of us. Knowledge is power. Have a pocket reference: http://www.nlgsf.org/resources/KYRpamphletSF.pdf The Bill of Rights applies to everyone, even illegal immigrants. So an immigrant, legal or illegal, prosecuted under the criminal code has the right to due process, a speedy and public trial, and other rights protected by the Fifth and Sixth Amendments. The key difference is there are a some rights reserved for citizens. What rights do I have? Whether or not you're a citizen, you have these constitutional rights: The Right to Rem

That's why a spectrum of people are trying to undo the Patriot act. Simply hineous. And the idea law enforcement would not stop you without some reason simply flies in the face of reality - past and present. They can question but you do NOT have to provide a reason. Why are we so quick to give up our rights??? Giving up our rights does NOT make us more secure. YOUR RIGHTS - You have the right to remain silent. If you wish to exercise that right, say so out loud. - You have the right to refuse to consent to a search of yourself, your car or your home. - If you are not under

http://www.aclu.org/free-speech/know-your-rights-photographers Know Your Rights: Photographers Taking photographs of things that are plainly visible from public spaces is a constitutional right – and that includes federal buildings, transportation facilities, and police and other government officials carrying out their duties. Unfortunately, there is a widespread, continuing pattern of law enforcement officers ordering people to stop taking photographs from public places, and harassing, detaining and arresting those who fail to comply. Hey let's have a shoot out. Casualties of the guilty and victioms and bystanders alike. For money and maerial items? Really? Is it REALLY worth it? Yeah it sucks but let them get what they want temporarily and let the police hunt them down. http://www.jrsa.org/...ves/Sept97.html Multistate Study of Convenience Store Robberies "In describing the robbery, the overwhelming majority of offenders reported that they did not initially use force. They only used force when, in their judgment, the response of the clerk or customer necessitated force. The majority thought they had very litt -
Ah yes, forgot the cable services.. sorry about that. I would ask LOTS of neighbors around you want they have. Quality (or bad service) is common to all types of service providers and some areas do better with one or the other, particularly when it comes to how it gets to you (types of wire, etc). If you ask people from a wide area your answers will be all over the board. Also check out http://www.dslreports.com/ for reviews and service providers. Hopefully that was a neutral bit of info.

AT&T is really the only game in town. There are a few resellers but AT&T inherited the monopoly BellSouth had. See plans at: http://www.att.com/d...plansShared.jsp READ THE DETAILS to get real monthly pricing. The initial page shows the introductory prices. Enjoy.

Yes, she is very talented. However, apparently musical talent doesn't pay the bills since the teeming masses gladly spend their money on flash and shock. Are we really surprised? She figured that out, made her millions, soon she can retire and go back to playing real music when she wants. Smart girl. Dumb audience.

looking for opinions on Internet without home phone service
BrightTiger replied to Mama Carol's topic in RECENT TOPICS
I made the plunge a few months ago. Just using AT&T DSL with a dry loop (no home service - you will need to get AT&T come out and put one in if you are dropping home phone service at least a month before going to DSL phone service). We chose Ooma.and got a refurb phne unit for just under $150 delivered. Switched our existing phone number from the AT&T deathstar and we have not looked back since. Yes we have a couple of annoying fits and starts with international long distance but US calls have been easy peasy. Even my ever-suspicious mother has gone along with the program -
