  1. My part time job that I love (and the money is good) in Kennesaw is hiring servers. They use an online scheduling system which allows me the freedom to work 2 jobs(if you see it, it will all make sense). Nice atmosphere and has been a great "extra" for me for almost 2 yrs...Elevation Chophouse.

Happy to help you in any way that I can :) .

  2. I am a 24 year law enforcement veteran..seeking a Full time police job or Security job. I am only working part time right now and need a full time job with Insurance. let me know if anyone knows of any jobs. I have looked online and in the paper..

    thanks

    Marc

Marc, I have a good friend who has worked night security at Lockheed for years. He has very good benefits and really enjoys it. I'll send him a note right now and ask him to let me know if anything is available and to keep his ears open for you.
  3. Good luck, Surepip! I'm glad things have gone in your favor and I wish you the very best. If there is anything I HATE, it is the "big guys" trying to use whatever means they can find to intimidate citizens....and very GOOD citizens in your case.

Go get 'em and Godspeed. I'm cheering and am in your corner.

  5. I watched the movie last evening, GGGM!

It's seemed like such real life for a person. It had such a happy ending.

I hope you that much happiness in tour life. :)

Thank you, Postman. That is very sweet.

I love her(the author) sense of humor. Very dry and witty. At one point in the book, during her divorce she vowed to herself to not "play mean" but to be peaceful with her Ex and his vicious attorney. She was going to be just like Ghandi and Nelson Mandella. Only to remember that they were BOTH lawyers ^_^ .

  6. I think - I'm not sure, but I do think that Gipper Girl may have gotten engaged recently. Maybe I dreamt it. She'll probably mention it if she really did get engaged.

You are so sweet, Mei lan! I am recently engaged. I was actually jut looking thru the pic here and they are really good. We are getting married outside of the U.S. but I would like to have a few pics here, too.
  7. For some reason, I am not a huge crock pot fan--unless it is a roast.

I probably need to just skip dinner all together, since it is usually around 8:00 or after before I am able to sit down and eat!!!

I understand that. Some people dont love them.

I know when I have a CRAZY BUSY week(I'm Mom of a teen and I work 2 jobs), I cook a huge amount of something(chili, soup, etc), make a HUGE salad with lots of goodies in it and we eat on both for a few days.

Also, I pick up some sides like potato salad and greek pasta salad from Publix. We make a good sandwich with it or a salad.

  8. Since I don't get home from work until 7:30-8:00 at night--I am not in much of a mood to cook a lot. I need easy stuff, possibly to make ahead of time and just heat up.

I get bored with baked chicken and chops pretty quick!!!

    Thanks

I know what you mean, tbird. On my long work days, I like to do a quick stir fry with chicken cut up and my fave veggies. Really quick, healthy and cheap, too! You can find REALLY easy and cheap asian noodles in the "ethnic food" isle if you want something to pour the stir fry over.

Also, if you use a crockpot, you can let frozen chicken breasts cook on low ALL day with your fave BBQ sauce. Add a veggie when you get home and viola!

  9. Mom's Hamburger Casserole.

    Ingredients:

    1 lb groundbeef/chuck

    2 cans pork n beans

2 cups shredded cheese...your choice of which kind....I prefer colby jack. Reserve approx 1/4-1/2 c of this cheese to put on the top

    1 c BBQ sauce...I use Williams Brothers

    Preheat oven to 350 degrees

Brown approx. 1 lb grond beef/chuck with some dried onion....and drain.

Spray a 8x8 or even 9x13 casserole dish with non stick spray

In a mixing bowl, mix together browned meat, 2 cans of pork n beans, and cheese, and BBQ sauce.

    Pour into prepared casserole dish.

    Sprinkle reseved cheese on top.

Bake at 350 for approx. 20-30 min....until cheese on top is melted.

Disclaimer....this is one of the Very few times this recipe has actually been written down. This is something I grew up with and learned it by watching my mom make it ( my recipe for cornbread is the same way).

I serve this with mashed potatoes on the side.

sounds yummy! We would love it. I'll try it and let you know! THANK YOU! :)

  10. Chili and French onion soup. not together though. When I was little my mom would make me french onion when I was sick.

My fiance' made me chili tonight. I've never been a huge chili fan until this year. I guess it's an age thing. But, it was so good on a cold day like this :) .

Onion soup...I love it. They serve Vidalia Onion Bisque at the place I work part time that is delicious. Lots of people come there just for the onion bisque.

My wife's home-made chicken noodle soup. A hug in every bowl full. :)

awwww! thats why I love comfort food so much!

Thnx Blondie! That is the sort of recipe I'm looking for :D . I'll let you know when I make it this next week...YUMMY! :)

  12. the "tried and true" recipes are ALWAYS the best!

Since it's winter, I am looking especially for wintry, comfort food...one dish stuff is GREAT or for the crock pot. And, if it's from your Grannie's, Grannie's Granny that's the creme' de la creme'!

You Pcommers always have the best of everything...so hit me!

    p.s.

just occurred to me that comfort food is quite often the most economical too. Even MORE reason for it!

DANG! If you're not hungry by now. you jus' aint human.

  13. Really good bread with good olive oil to dip it in makes me feel good. But if we're talking about a meal that reminds us of our mom that would be chicken noodle soup and pb&j sandwich. When I was in elementary school I walked home for lunch every day and that's what my mom had ready for me. I really don't remember her fixing anything else for my lunch. Sometimes she would give me the money to run to the little store on the corner to get a Hostess cupcake to go with my lunch. Her peanut butter cookies were delicious too. I need to bake some since I have her recipe.

Sug, I love that! I think you were sooooooo fortunate to have memories of an everyday lunch at home with Mom. Even though I'm sure she was busy with things she needed to get done, still, the idea of that is great. She knew what you would like and made it with love. Gah! Beautiful memory.

KRM...yep, smile at your sweet Momma. I do the same. We had GREAT ones, didnt we? What a great reminder of how much our Mothers loved us by the food we cook and eat. Breaking bread together is one of the most special, and even holy, things people can do together.

Thank you for sharing, KRM. Oh, me and my southern Mamma loved grits too!

  14. Comfort food is definitely my favorite kind of food to eat. I love a good roast, braised then in the crock all day, a slow roasted ham, a pot of chili, chicken and rice, mac n cheese, ANY soup(never met a soup I didnt love ^_^ )...but probably the one that brings back the most memories are potato cakes.

I always loved them so much. My Mom would surprise me the day after a various potato dish with them (Me, not knowing at that stage in life that they really are kind of a pain to make)...she made them the best!

So, I have some prepped and ready to go in my kitchen...it's a comfort food kinda night  .

  15. Thank you! smile.gif

It is all in the consultation. Booking the extra time to talk and asking the right questions are key. I also encourage you to bring pictures of what you like so it can be incorporated .

    yea...blink.gif ... rofl.gifrofl.gifrofl.gif You know I wub.gifU!

    And I wub.gif U too!

As a hairstylist who has been in the biz full time now for 18 yrs, HairRazor is EXACTLY on point about the consultation! SOOOOOOOOO many stylist get it wrong on the consultation and so OF COURSE it will all be downhill(and lots of tears) from there.

She has been a great stylist in this business for a long time and has learned and understands the RIGHT questions that need to be asked. She knows how to talk with people and how to ask the right questions to get the answers she needs to advise her clients on what they should and should NOT do.

I've talked to her long enough to see that without any doubt :good: . So few stylist are ever able to truly LISTEN and the advise honestly. She's got it down pat and I do NOT say that about just anybody!

Good luck, HR! Can't wait to see your new place and see your success that I KNOW you are going to enjoy!

    :drinks:
