  1. Oh my gosh, that totally makes sense!!! Yes, loud booms too. But we've never heard them before, and we usually can't hear very far when the leaves are still on the trees. We're actually several miles away. Dang, they're loud! Thanks for clearing that up.

And they must be winning, based on the booms! I'm nearly jumping out of my seat!!!

  2. We are really leaning towards that, but the middle name we are struggling with.

Sorry, didn't read all the posts, but I love Kendall! It reminds me of Eve Kendall from North By Northwest, one of my favorite movies and a fantastic character played by Eva Marie Saint... Hmmm... Kendall Eve? Kendall Marie?

  3. My friend in Michigan was in a panic yesterday, because at her kids' open house, they were told to sign up for a teacher home visit. It's a private school. Have you ever heard of this strange requirement? What do you think of it? Food for discussion... :pardon:

  4. PINK tank top???

Nobody ever said anything about pants, I think.

    Wonder if they have sequins?

I did. Jeans. I think it's safe to say the guy I saw was one of them. And my memory kind of sucks for colors, but I think if he was wearing a shirt at all, which I kind of don't think, it was like faded red, that kind of pink. Just too much clothes washing. But I do remember thinking, "Well, I don't think that guy lives there, and why is he watching me like that, and why doesn't he cover up a little?"

  5. Hee hee. A fork? I've got my female rage! Ha!

Cpl Gurley, are they all aware there's 26 unoccupied acres here, formerly the Rimer Property, that are pretty good for hiding? There's no one back there looking for them right now, unless that white truck that just drove through counts... but of course I am aware I know nothing about tracking...

The guy I saw was on foot, white, a little pudgy, a little balding, but I don't think he had any shirt on at all, or was it a pink tank top. Darn my memory, but it wasn't a normal shirt, that's for sure. And he was wearing jeans. And sweating! And watched me as long as I watched him, which was admittedly more than a passing glance.

  6. Well, guys, I saw one of them around 1:30pm on Poplar Springs headed back into the woods behind my house. :-( Now SWAT and all kinds of police are on Poplar Springs and I let them know that's where they went. I didn't know at the time what was going on, just noticed this guy (and he def. noticed me too) going somewhere people don't live, and he was acting suspiciously, so I put 2+2 together and pulled over to ask the officer about it.

Rrrrrrggghhh. I'm thinking they're behind my house, so I'm watching out for sure!

We went on Sixth Sense, and it was theatrical (staffed by theater folks), but very informative in terms of history, etc, and not too scary for little kids. It was a great length and a very nice walk at night. In fact, we weren't spooked at all, except for one moment near an abandoned hospital and another moment outside a house with a broken mirror story (don't want to give anything away).

    Have fun!!!

  8. We at the best pulled pork BBQ at my parents' the other day, and then we found out my mom just threw in a whole pork loin and a bottle of barbeque sauce. When it was done, the meat falls right apart. I thought it was brilliant!

  9. I'm Peeks (my maiden initials were PK), and Pico, which became Pico de Gallo. Also, my hubs still calls me PK sometimes. And Freckles (that was before Lost aired), and Peppermint, which became Mint. I attract nicknames. ^_^

  10. Can't recommend a hotel. I have no idea......

BUT.....Where have you been??? Long time no see! You've been missed.

Awww.... thanks! I've been really choosy about what I post lately. Half the time, I write something and then decide I'd better keep my mouth, er, hand shut.

  11. I have relatives who are coming to town and who are picky (in a good way) about their hotels. They are currently booked at the Crown Plaza at 120/75, but they're considering changing to somewhere closer. Any recommendations for/against? Thanks in advance!

    Knotty

  12. Yeah, and I think that courtesy and consideration are not things that are worthy of chasing/stalking and then berating them for their poor behavior. Definitely selfishness comes into play and words from a stranger probably won't be very effective. What do you think?

Well, I think chasing, no, that takes things out of perspective. But I am an activist personality-type, and so I do think about that line a lot. If she had ended up at Target like we did, at the same time, I definitely would have said something politely. Whether or not she took it to heart, I don't know but at least I would have tried to make a difference. That's really important to me.

  13. Interestingly enough, there's a chance that the woman in question *did* have a disability that made her eligible to use a handicapped space - not all handicaps are visible, y'know. If that was the case, she *does* need to be informed that she needs a permit.

OTOH, there are NO excuses for running stop signs and getting too close to pedestrians (even though I've seen waaaay too many pedestrians in parking lots being stupid, too).

I was wondering how long it would take for that to come up. The thing is, when you put all those things together, eh, I think the most obvious explanation (self-centeredness) is the most likely one..
