Mrs. Melanie Black Mayhue, age 46, of Lithia Springs, GA passed away Friday, October 2, 2009. She was born April 5, 1963 in Austell, GA. Mrs. Mayhue had a variety of pets and a love and passion for wild animals that needed her care. She was past P.T.A. President and recipient of many awards including parent of the year award for 2008 and volunteer of the year. She was also involved in the Booster Club with Lithia Springs High School. Mrs. Mayhue was a multi-talented musician, a flutist, guitarist, and vocalist. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Lithia Springs and very active with the praise and worship band. She is survived by her parents Mr. and Mrs. Robert Black of Lithia Springs, GA; husband Scott Mayhue of Lithia Springs, GA; sons, Jeffrey Mayhue of Atlanta, GA and Patrick Mayhue of Athens, GA; daughter Molly Mayhue of Lithia Springs, GA; brothers, Bob and his wife Debbie Black of Lithia Springs, GA, David and his wife Cole Black of Lithia Springs, GA; sisters, Brenda Black Sewell of Covington, GA, Dianne Black of Hoschton, GA, Carolyn Black Conlon of Lithia Springs, GA; several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, October 6, 2009 from 5-8 PM. The funeral service will be Wednesday, October 7, 2009 at 4:00 PM in the Rosehaven Chapel with Rev. Mike Sanford officiating. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Yellow River Game Ranch, 4525 Hwy. 78, Lilburn, GA 30047 or Noah’s Ark Animal Rehabilitation Center, 712LG Griffin Rd., Locust Grove, GA 30248.
