NO School Thursday - Boil order still in effect

Just a reminder that the Paulding Schools will not be in session although we have heard that the staff are supposed to report at 8 am Thursday morning. This suggests that school will resume on Friday although there is no word on that.

The boil order remains in effect and we have not heard any estimate when the order will be lifted.

Water damage at the county's administrative and judicial complex was minimal. We'll have a report on that in Friday's Paulding.com News.

And for those who do have a dishwasher, but who wash their dishes by hand, the dishwasher will get the water hot enough to kill the bacteria, and use the drying cycle as well [not on energy saver, etc.].

If you have to wash by hand you should consider rinsing with boiling water.

Thanks surepip. For handwashing, a CAP FULL of bleach in the rinse water will kill bacteria. No need to use any more, let dishes air dry before putting away.

Here is a copy of the boil water advisory. It is only if you have experienced low water pressure or outage. This article was copied from Water Department website, http://www.paulding.gov/newsupdates/details.asp?id=543

BOIL WATER ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT!!

Posted : 9/23/2009

Due to the severe weather and flooding that we have experienced, several water mains throughout the County have been damaged by the flooding along with the roadways of the County. The Water System has experienced a loss of water pressure and/or very low pressure in several areas of the County.

Therefore, as a precaution, if citizens experience a water supply outage or low water pressure, the Paulding County Water System advises that all water be “boiled” prior to use for drinking, cooking, or preparing baby food in order to protect from a potential health hazard. The water should be boiled for at least one minute after reaching a rolling boil, let it cool, and store it in clean containers with covers. An alternative to boiling would be to use only bottled water for consumption.
