Those convicted of statutory rape are not required to register as a sex offender unless they are over the age of 21. The story of some 17yo going to prison and having to register because his girlfriend was 15 are false. It is a story many sex offenders spread to try to gain acceptance because they know many will not take the time to go through public records and find the true story.

The law may have changed, but a boy my daughter went to school with had to register for being 17 and having sex with his 15 year-old-girlfriend. Dad caught them in the act, she cried rape, and he did several months in the Paulding County jail. Sad because they'd been dating with her parents' permisson for about 2 years prior to this happening. JMO, but if she was old enough to take on the resonsibility of having sex, she should have fessed up and not put this guy though what she did.

  2. Thanks for posting this info!

I definitely need to look into this. About 18 months ago, my computer locked up and I lost all the pictures of my grandkids. I was able to recover some of them, but a lot of the important ones (birthdays, etc.) were completely wiped out.

I put the pictures on discs, but I'd like some other way.

  3. I hate that the one on 92 is closing because I've banked with them for years.

I hope not all of their employees go to the one on 278. There is one in particular that does not seem to know what he's doing. When my company changed our insurance coverage to catastrophic coverage only, I did not renew. I took the premiums I was paying and opened a separate account to put the money in so that we'd have the money if we needed to go to the doctor. When I opened the account, the lady somehow linked the new account to my other account. Whenever I'd use the new account, it would pull money from my original account and not the new one. I found out about it only because my husband put our vacation money in the new account, and we used that account when we were in Florida. We ended up with two bounced checks in our original account. When I went to the bank, I found out that the new account was set up to pull money from the original account. The man I dealt with refused to refund the insufficient fund charges and tried to tell me that somehow I had fixed it that way. We went round and round for about a week!!! There's no way I could have done that. I've used on line banking for years and it's impossible to change things on your accounts. Somehow the person who opened the account for me did it, but you couldn't make this man understand that. I threatened to close my account, and then he offered to reverse ONE of the insufficient fund charges!!!

This past Saturday, I took the final check from my insurance company for my roof repairs to be cashed so that I could pay my roofers. It was above the cashier's limit, so she had to get this same man to approve it for her. Well--he refused and said I'd have to deposit it and wait 3 days to get my money. I was furious!!! I had just cashed the first one two weeks before with no problems. He wasn't there that day. Someone else approved it. I went to the bank on 278 and got it cashed with no problems. I think this particular man likes to make simple things difficult for folks. I hope they put him somewhere other than the one on 278. If I have to have any more dealings with him, I will definitely be looking for a new bank!!!

  4. George was my bus driver in elementary school. He ws always very nice. Every Friday he would stop by Grand's after all the kids were picked up in the morning an buy us all a coke for "pop-a-top fridays." Me and my cousins were his last stop in the afternoon and he would stop by store and buy us candy and ice cream before taking us home. George was a great man and will be sorely missed.

He was my oldest daughter's bus driver when she was in middle school. He's bought her many cokes and lots of candy!!! She really, really liked him. He was very good to his "kids". I'll let her know about his passing.

  5. I have no idea why it happened but maybe she is deserving of my compassion since I am not her judge. I watched a woman on Oprah not long ago who left her daughter in her car and she died. It was an accident because she was not in the habit of having her daughter with her. She was a broken woman, who will never forgive herself. We do not know the circumstances of this mother either. Why is everyone so quick to condemn these days?

I saw this episode. I have no sympathy for her. I cannot comprehend how any one can "forget" their child. There are no circumstances that justify leaving a baby/young child unattended in a vehicle like this lady did.

As for the woman in Forsyth County, there's no excuse for what she did. Pure laziness is what it sounds like. She didn't want to be bothered with the baby. IMO, she deserves the most serious punishment the law allows.

  6. The old.....he didn't look like a user won't fly. I personally know of someone who was a daily user for over 15 years. His teeth never rotted... He kept a job..... was at work......Has a family...... I promise you people NEVER knew..... He has been clean for over 3 years. Even today.....when he does tell his story that is the first thing they think of and say...you don't look like a meth user...

They come in all shapes, sizes and color!

So very true!! My daughter has a friend who has used almost every day for the last 5 years. She has two kids that she takes excellent care of and, believe it or not, she's finally gotten a part-time job (it is an office job and they don't drug test). She is a beautiful girl, and you'd never know to look at her or talk to her.

My question, is how did your friend get off the meth? This girl wants off so badly and has tried to do it herself. She definitely needs in-patient or some type of intensive treatment. She has no insurance and no money.

  7. I had to go to Gainesville today for work. I heard on the radio that all the law enforcement was going to be out on the interstates really craking down on speeders. I left earlier than I usually would so that I could go slow. I only saw one GSP on the way there, and he was writing someone a ticket. I didn't see any on the way home. I don't know where they were but they weren't on I-20, I-285, or I-85.
