O.K., every body run quick, run fast! We have to pump all of the gas out of the station's tanks and into ours before some one else does! For those that haven't herd yet, the C.P. pipeline in Alabama erupted in flames earlier this afternoon. So we all must rush to get all of the precious fluid we can before there isn't any left! Never mind the fact that there are months in supply in the tanks over at the farm. Never mind that the trucks can only haul so much, so fast. Go... Go...Go... hog it up quick! Greg Elsberry has been promoted to deputy chief of the Paulding County Fire and Rescue Department, the department announced. He becomes only the third deputy chief in the department’s history and will immediately assume responsibility for its daily operations. Several new officers also were promoted last week. A fire on Merchants drive across from Creekside Pines in Dallas disrupted traffic between 11 am into the early afternoon, killed a few trees and demolished an abandoned house. Authorities on the scene believe the house was empty at the time of the fire and have not completed their investigation into the cause. Cecil Bean, who lives near the event, was an eye witness and took a passel of photos of fire. I interviewed him. A house on Dallas Road (near Antioch Road) was destroyed by fire in December 2012. It is now almost 18 months later and the remains of the house still sit untouched. There is a huge hole in the roof, a car (unused) sits on the front lawn, and the weeds grow wildly in the summer all around the yard. It's an eyesore for passersby but certainly more of a nuisance and danger for the neighbors. Anyone have information on the status of this property? Note: Google Maps street view shows the "before" photo and Google Earth shows the "after" view. EDIT: Did not realize I was putting this

UPDATE: Winds high enough to unfurl the big flag at a nearby car dealer, low humidity and the use of an outdoor burn barrel were responsible for a fire, the smoke from which could be seen as far south as Ridge Road and as far west as Dallas. Traffic was tied up from shortly after 2 p.m. when the call was first made until after six as fire trucks blocked macland road fighting the fire with a contingent of 25 firefighters.
