Relay For Life of Paulding County kicks off today at 6 p.m. at Veterans Park in Dallas (next to the Watson Government Complex), and you’re invited to attend. We have 72 teams taking part in tonight’s event—schools, churches, businesses, community members and other groups—and many of them will be fundraising on site, from selling food and drink to silent auctions, games, photos booths and more. Five Below in Hiram will donate 10 percent of your purchase to Relay For Life of Paulding County if you present a fundraiser flyer at the time of purchase. Flyers can be downloaded from the “Stepping All Over Cancer” Relay team's Facebook page. The fundraising campaign begins Sunday, May 11, and ends Sunday, May 18. The store is located at 4904 Jimmy Lee Smith Parkway, Suite 120, and its hours are Sundays from 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. and 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Hope it's okay to post this .... There is a spaghetti supper tonight at the old burnt hickory fire station on Hwy 61 to benefit relay for life. This runs from 4pm to 8pm and plates are (I believe that they are $6 each or 2 for $10?).

Dozens of Paulding County schools, businesses, churches and other groups are gearing up for next month’s American Cancer Society Relay For Life event in Dallas. In all, more than 70 teams have signed up to raise money in the fight against cancer, and so far, they’ve raised more than $55,000. That number will increase in the days leading up to and following May 16-17’s Relay event, which will take place at Veterans Park, currently under construction in front of the Watson Government Complex in Dallas. Relay For Life of Paulding County is set to be the first major event to be held at the park.
