  1. I agree that it does no good, however, knowing that many voters voted for her because of the R by her name truly is hard to get past. The voters need to educate themselves and investigate candidates thoroughly. I know firsthand of her inabilities, however, I will pray that she steps up in her new role.

I voted for her not because of the R by her name but the D by her oppontents name. I just could not trust him since he refused to ever put his party affiliation on his web site.

  2. After reading your responces:

"No one should be forced to purchase anything against their will and I do not agree with the current health care reform".

"Car insurance is slightly different. First of all, one chooses to drive, if you choose not to drive, you don't have to purchase insurance".

"I DO NOT think that any student that is not a resident of Georgia, much less of the US should be given in-state tuition rates. Our state's taxpayers should not subsidize the remainder of the cost of the student. I do however think that we should allow student visas to students that do want to pay full out-of-state price for attending a Georgia university. These students should definitely not be allowed access to the HOPE scholarship either".

But are your responses truthful? After all you still do not have the word "Democrat" anywhere on your web site?

  3. That looks like a Cirrus SR22. Those have a parachute recovery system. From the looks of it (very little damage), I'm betting it was used. Bet the pilot is glad for that!

** Update: N451TS is a Cirrus SR22, apparently owned by a flight training company at McCollum Field.

According to the FAA web site: Cirrus SR22 N451TS is owned by Ellis Aviation of Willington, Delaware. This is simply another in a long list of Cirrus SR-22 crashes.

  4. Both Republicans and Democrats have problems with morals. The difference is that when a Democrat has a problem their party rallies around them and blame everyone but the offender. When a Republican has issue the party runs away from them and they are forced to resign.

  5. And now back on topic.....

Just WHY is Beverly Cochran running for the Post 2 Commission Seat ?

It is plainly obvious she would like to be in a position to thwart any and all agendas, projects, goals, and plans for the county David Austin tries to put into place.

And from where I sit, electing her will be putting Shearin's influence back onto the BOC.

Is there something wrong with have diffierent opinion?

Should only people with the same agenda as the current adminstration be allow to run for office?

  6. Actually, that subdivision sold out phase one really quickly, but the builders did not see the downturn in the market and kept building phase 2. Phase 3 didn't get too far before the bank took it all back. There are a lot of stories about these properties! Most of it true.

The subdivision next to the spray fields, I don't remember the name, has not sold one home in over three years!

  7. Simple economics. The attendance drops well beyond the point that it costs to stay open.

Of course attendance drops off if they close down! There is no reason they can't hold the Laser Show at Stone Mountain on weekday nights will into September, its warm enough. Toursts are still coming to town in late August, maybe they would like take their kids to Six Flags but they can't because the local kids have gone back to school? It just doesn't make sense.

  8. Rep. Dollar Introduces Legislation

ATLANTA — State Representative Matt Dollar (R-Marietta) introduced this week House Bill 1097 – legislation that will prevent schools in Georgia from starting their academic school year before the third full week of August.

“Many families in my district have told me that they have seen their summer vacation time disappear over the last few years,” said Representative Dollar. “My bill not only serves to enhance family togetherness, but will save our school systems substantial money and, also benefit the state’s ailing economy.”

Due to the overwhelming summer heat that tends to peak during the month of August, Georgia schools spend substantial amounts of money keeping buildings cool for students. This typically results in August being the most expensive month for Georgia schools. Also, when high school employees return to school before the third week of August, it forces many Georgia tourist attractions to shut down early, resulting in economic loss for the attractions, their local communities, and the state as a whole.

The passage of House Bill 1097 would only impact Georgia’s public elementary and secondary schools that receive state funding.

HB 1097 has been assigned to the House Committee on Education. A link to the bill can be found by clicking here.

The Represenative points out something that has never made sense to me: When school starts why do they shut down attractions like Six Flags and the Laser Show at Stone Mountain? They don't shut down Disneyworld when school starts.

  9. You are required to pay taxes on the value of the prizes, its income.

If you win a car they set you up with a dealer in your area to take delivery. Things like appliances are delivered to your home by truck. Cash prizes and trips (vouchers) are sent by Fed Ex or similar delivery service, you half to sign for them.

I had a friend in California win on Price is Right. He won a travel trailer, a trip to Hawaii, luggage, swim wear and $500 cash for expenses in Hawaii. It took weeks for him to get everything. Then everything was set to him twice. When he asked what to do with the duplicate items they told him to send the voucher for the trip and trailer back, but he could keep the rest. He sold the travel trailer back to the dealer to pay the taxes.
