  1. I believe it is a group of the KKK? Hopefully, I am wrong.

    Why?

Not trying to be offensive, but why?

Don't take this the wrong way, but in some ways I'd prefer it to be some downhome idiot, redneck racist as opposed to some international terrorist idiot.

In all honesty, it kills me that it happened at all, and I really don't prefer any of the above listed scenarios, but I a least prefer to think that it was some idiot from here, and not some international type incident. I hope you understand what I'm saying.

And I pray for that poor guard's family.

And thank God that a whole bunch of kids on vacation with their parents, trying to learn how cruel idiots can be (Hitler) were saved because of this man's sacrifice and ultimate sacrifice. It could have been so, so much worse.

  2. OK, the guy was 88 or 89, it depends on which updated story you're getting. He was apparently born in 1920 (again, depending on which channel, story, etc.) Who really cares, he was 88 or 89. He hates Jews (Holocaust museum where the bulk of the tourists were, I would imagine, not Jews), hates Blacks, hates Catholics, tried to take down the entire folk on the working folk for the DC Fed system years ago.) I don't think they've found his sheets yet, but what a nice guy!?!

Has anyone heard where he's from yet? Not that really makes a difference, just wondering. You can find whacko KKK folks all over the country, north and south. There just seemed to be something in our warm, humid climate in the past that they found to be more of an acceptable breeding ground.

I hope and pray that all of this kind of whacko is dying out. It's past its prime.

I'm sure I can "google" it.

  3. Well the baby birds are leaning to fly ,so i will be...broiling bb-q pork chops and steaming broccoli along with a baked tater and garlic bread inside tonight.LOL

The things we do for the babies of nature.

    HB.

God, I was afraid you were going to say that you were having Cornish Hens or something!

  4. Laid off officer manager for a law firm, hubby is a laid off IT manager at the only major paper in Atlanta. I would love to tell you what we actually do, but for now..........................well, not much.

Count your blessings all you retirees/SAHM's. Not being nasty, I mean that, and we're jealous at this point. We too thought that everything was going to be Beaver Cleaver/Donna Reed kind of do your job, do it well, seek the American dream, live within your means, save for retirement, etc., etc. We did all the right things - we don't live in a McMansion, heck, I'd be happy to have a little more closet space  , but things are what they are.

Hopefully next week I can come back to this thread and tell you we're doing great, and my job is.........................., and his job is...................................

    And that is all.

    Signed,

    Debbie Downer

Actually no, we're better off and better prepared that way too many people I read about.

  5. Steaks, seafood (if you can find some in Paulding), the best BBQ, Pizza, home cooking..............I'm just not sure.

I do know that I want a waitress that is good, and good tea...........they must have good tea. Or sodas, personally I prefer diet, and do they serve beer and wine, or is that completely out of the question - it makes a huge difference. If they serve alcohol, well..............if they don't, well..............

But, how much do you have to tip the waitress, and is she/he worth it?

OK, you kids are no help, and it's getting late!

    Where's the fun in that?

Actually, I'm about to pull out leftovers from the fridge, and I plan to tip myself, in one form or another.

  7. Aw heck- just save me some leftovers. Hubby just called and wants fried striper and the fixins- so I'm off to make a greasy mess in a little bit.

LOL, I read that as "fried stripper". What fixins go along with that, her, etc.?

  8. Not in the mood for any food or even BEER, My Mom is having a triple bypass in the morning :(

I'm sorrry, and believe it or not, I've been there. I pray and hope that everything will be OK - they can do so much more these days, believe me. Over the last few years we've been through all kinds of major surgery with my husband and FIL, big time stuff, and they're still here and doing well.

    Which hospital?

  9. We are gpoing to Sparkles for the excercise and the we are going to have the pitcher of coke and pizza

I've been craving pizza for months now. Back when my little tiny baby boy still lived with us (24 years old, 6'2 at this point, married, etc.) we used to have pizza at least once a week. Pepperoni with extra cheese (just like the Ninja Turtles would request, LOL.)

  10. If that's the only error you could find in my post, I'm happy.

    For the record, it's LongHorn.

Did that make you feel better?

Lighten up Francis, I wasn't picking on you - it's a common thing that you see all the time.

Is it really a capital "H"? Well, bless your heart, it sure is! Now I feel better! Thanks! :D

  11. I totally agree with you! Atlanta is worse than Detroit? How was this calculated? The ratio of crime to the population...X amount of personal crimes to X amount of people or what? I go to Atlanta alot and can't remember one time I have felt unsafe. Well, thats not exactly true...I was at work with Hubby one time about 10:30 on a Saturday night and he got a call to re-connect power to an apt on New Town Circle, the road that runs right next to the Federal Pen. Really, really bad place. He told me to lock the doors and not open them for anybody other than another GPC worker or the police. That is one time I listened to him!!!!!!!!!!

How about Washington DC?? SCARY!!!!!!! And it gets that way fast from one block to the next.

    Birmingham?!?! Really?!?!?

I already talked about DC, and Charleston and Savannah. Birmingham? I haven't been there in years, but I can imagine the same type of scenario. Funny, but I think that New York or Boston late at night are safer than some of these that we have personal experience with. More night life, etc.
