  1. I hope nobody on P.com is around when I drive. I'm never gonna reveal on this forum what kind of vehicle I drive! I don't shoot any birds or anything, but I do drive crazy, and read these topics wondering if there is any mention of my bad driving. :D

"No, that wasn't me! I um, I don't drive! Yeah, I ride my bike!"

  2. I would highly recommend Progressive for insurance. They are comprable for rates, and their claims service is impeccable.

After my three-year driving record became cleansed, Progressive became very comparable and I saw no reason to go with a cheap company from the phone book that simply outsources policies out of state, and would most likely be the most difficult part of a wreck.

I'm sure Progressive's claims service is "impeccable" as long as you are the one who got hit by a motorist insured by Progressive. In fact, I don't remember the exact conversation, but a claims adjuster pretty much told me that they would practically bend over backwards for the other party's claim, but no so for the insured.

When I was at fault for wrecking my car in Washington D.C. on the Saturday of Memorial Day weekend this year and I called the 800 number while still at the scene, it was Tuesday (after the long weekend) before a claims adjuster went to the impound to look at my car and get back to me. He said the car definately wouldn't be totaled, and it was towed to a repair shop. I purchased a plane ticket home for Saturday, and would fly back whenever the repairs were completed. Well the adjuster called me a little after 7pm on Friday to tell me that the repair estimate had gotten pretty high, and they decided to total the car. So I had to fly home without being able to get the rest of my stuff out of my car. Fortunately a friend of mine who lived nearby in VA was able to get my stuff out.

  3. Hmm, if I came along with a boat and had the opportunity to save only a certain small number of people, and the rest were going to die, which people would I prefer to be able to save? This is just assuming I knew these things, not that I would take the time to ask like some other people implied (I guess they didn't read or understand the OP.) I'd hope that I wouldn't have to pick, but that the adults would make sure certain individuals went before them and I'd just have to help them get on board. This is hard to actually prioritize this list, and I don't want to post it publicly.

  4. During lunch today, a few of us discussed how confusing it can be to determine whether another member is male or female. Sometimes we had assumed that somebody was certain gender, which made specific posts seem odd. Then it's a surprise to meet a person and find out they are of the other gender. I thought I'd create a poll just so we can get to know our fellow P.com'ers a little better. If you don't have a problem with revealing your gender, take off your possum caps and let the truth be known! :)

  5. What, the laws of supply and demand are working?

The way I figure is now that everybody has a full tank of gas after filling up yesterday, nobody will be buying gas today and tomorrow, therefore the price will come down due to low demand so that us sane people can fill up.

I'll be surprised if that actually happens. Pleasantly suprised, though.

  6. I would like to offer an apology and explanation on behalf of "the old people", as I was part of that group (but didn't arrive until 7:45.)

Our meeting was supposed to have been last Tuesday at 7:30, but was cancelled due to the library closing early because the power was out at the time. At the spur of the moment, the decision was made to postpone the meeting until the next Tuesday, which was yesterday.

A day or so later when someone spoke with the library to confirm the availability of the room at that time, they were told that another group would be in the room until 7:45. So an email was sent out that stated "A group will be there till 7:45 and then we will have the conference room after that time. So if you get there early please wait outside till that time."

Unfortunately, I don't think everyone got the memo (the older guys don't have computers and I don't think all the others are on the email list,) so I'm guessing that they arrived early thinking the meeting would start at 7:30 and were concerned when they found someone using the room. I never arrive early, but I don't think there is ever anybody in the room before us. So I imagine they were so inquisitive to determine what time the room would be available so they could get set up for our meeting.

I apologize that you were heckled by these guys, and I will also talk to some of the people about this. And for the "snide" comment, I walked up just before you walked out and said "It's all yours." As you were passing I asked if you were able to finish your crafts. I apologize if my attempt at a friendly way to meet a fellow P.com'er was mistaken for a snide remark. But I can understand, considering your disappointment from the lack of attendance.

  7. Welcome to Pcom Tina!

That's the road I lived on until about a year ago. Yes, it's very confusing. It's a Powder Springs address, but it's Paulding county. You will get your mail through the Powder Springs Post Office and when you purchase anything where your address is required (cars, etc.) make sure they know it's Paulding and not Cobb. I'm not sure who has higher taxes now, but a few years ago Cobb did and we found out, after having insurance for 3 years that we were paying Cobb rates. We never did get a refund on that, although

although my sister did and she lived just 2 houses down from me.

Welcome Tina! I hope you'll register and join us on Paulding.com

Yes it is confusing, I don't understand why unincorporated Powder Springs runs over into Paulding County. I thought a city was supposed to be in just one county. I live off of Brownsville Rd and also deliver mail to that area. I'm often asked which post office I'm out of.

Sales tax is cheaper in Cobb, but I think property tax and insurance in cheaper in Paulding.

When my Jeep Cherokee caught fire back in January, a Douglas Co. fireman on his way home saw the smoke and came to my house, and called for a firetruck because a Douglas firestation is about a mile or so down 92. Then he realized I was in Paulding Co. and had to get Paulding to come out from Pine Valley Rd. I don't know who the 911 operator I spoke to before anybody showed up was going to send over, but it was a short little while before a firetruck showed up.

  8. I usually get the baked potato at Jim 'N Nicks (which consists of 1.5 pototoes, two 3/4 parts put together.) I wasn't too happy that the prices had increased because the prices were high enough, but (normally) you get what you pay for. All their food is cooked (or smoked) fresh daily, and what's left is thrown out at night.

(No I do not work for Jim 'N Nicks)
