  1. A new cross seems to pop up every day at the site of his accident. Just earlier I passed by numerous people who had gathered around it. R.I.P.

I honestly believe the crosses that are being erected at the crash site is one way the teens are dealing with the grief of losing a friend. We all grieve in different ways -- I'm sure the teens have a complete understanding of what they are feeling.

  2. The Hiram Hornet football team is off to a great start this season. Please help support Paulding sports by casting your vote for Hiram High as Fox 5 Atlanta's Team of the Week. The Hornets would also appreciate your Vote to Bring WSB-TV to the Hiram @ South Paulding game Friday, October 9.

It has been an awesome season to date with North Paulding voted in as Fox 5's Team of the Week and coverage of the South Paulding @ Hillgrove and East Paulding @ McEachern games.

Way to go to all Paulding County football teams.

  3. What a deal! Our already lowest-in-Metro-Atlanta designer tuxes and ALL of the accessories for only $89.99! How's that possible, since the big-chain stores charge $170.00 for similar quality tux rentals?

We own the tuxes that we rent. We don't have Mall prices because we don't have Mall overhead costs. And we believe in helping our Paulding.com neighbors.

Here's all that you have to do. Rent a tux from us and have your prom dinner at MacFarlane's. That's it. It doesn't matter which you arrange to do first.

You've already arranged to get your tux rental elsewhere? If you're getting a black designer tux with all of the fixings, then you're paying $70.00 too much!

Go get your money back and use those funds to buy dinner at MacFarlane's!

So, what do you need to bring to show that you are a Hiram student. Do you have anything available Friday afternoon?

I saw that too and it was still there when I came in. I didn't realize they had traffic detoured. I know that there was a electric company truck there too. they have been replacing the poles. I thought maybe they were there to help direct traffic. Let us know if somebody finds something out.

  5. I may have chosen the wrong forum, but I wasn't sure where to post. If it needs to be transferred to another forum, please feel free to do so.

This year's North Georgia Youth Football League Super Bowl is being sponsored by the Hiram High School Football Booster Club on Saturday, November 22, 2008 at Hiram High. The booster club board is looking for several vendors -- specifically, someone who has the capability of photographing the participants and making digital prints available (immediately is our preference, but we are open to having proofs available for purchase online) as well as someone willing to tape the games and make DVDs available to the parents/teams. If you know of anyone who might be interested in either of these opportunities or are interested in providing another service, please PM me as soon as possible. The first game begins very early (8:00 am I think) and the last game is very late.

  6. I'm glad I park the car in the garage.....LOCKED......especially given that Premium (93 octane) is 'bout the only octane the car will run "right" on......

My gas cap door and my husband's lock. Unfortunately, the kids' do not. Gas was siphoned out of both their vehicles in one night. 3/4 tank out of my daughter's mustang, and a 1/2 tank from my son's toyota pu. They were livid, but so was I.

  7. I want to do some dove hunting this year.

Where do I go, thats not to far, to do some.

    Anyone know ?

Hubby said there are dove fields near Berry College off 27 to Little Texas Valley Road, 1/2 mile maybe a little more -- dirt road on the right -- Berry College Dove Field on right -- Open Saturday's only.

  8. Update!!

Sorry it took me so long to get back to you. We went to church, to the grocery store and gas station and finally home to check messages. The annual dues is $600 for 400 acres. The acreage backs up to the Chattahoochee National Forest so you have additional hunting access. Hunt club is available August - July. It's a very family friendly environment. Children can hunt with their parents until the age of 16 at no additional charge. I almost forgot, it is not considered a "trophy county". Hubby says there were two 135's taken off the property last year (whatever that means).

My husband is retired so he can show the land at any time. He would like a day's notice to go up to the land. Please feel free to contact Joe on his cell 404-732-7421 (he doesn't always answer the home phone).

  9. My husband's hunting club, Jackson Hole Hunting Club located approximately 45 minutes from Dallas (Chatooga County), has an opening. The club is just over the Floyd County line (not too far from Berry College). They are a QDM (quality deer management) club. Turkey, deer, small game, and ducks are just some of the game available. The property has two ponds (fishing rights included). If interested, please PM me and I'll pass the information on to my husband.

They have recently cleared an area for a campground, so camping spaces are available.

  10. Do any of you older graduates remember Coach Ford and drivers ed? We had a blast with that old man. He always let us drive to Dairy Queen. We had sooooo much fun. I loved Coach Ford!!

Should have been Class of 77 but graduated in 76, and yes I remember Coach Ford well. Driver's ed was a blast with him.

  11. Well first, this was only the Primary. There will probably be a runoff for Post 3 and if Gary holds on to a better than 50% margin he will survive without a Runoff. The Runoff will be held soon so that the winner of the Runoff can campaign against the other party's candidate (if there is one) prior to the November General Election. Since there isn't a democratic candidate for commission chairman then David Austin will probably be the only one on the ballot in November. Once the November election is done and the vote results certified by the state, then the declared winner will take office in January. For some reason the second Monday in January seems to be the common date. I could be wrong.

Thanks for responding so quickly. I guess I really did know the answer. I thought January. Just wishful thinking on my part as I was hoping it would be sooner. I appreciate the response.

  12. My daughter is in the process of going through her "high school" clothes (cleaning out) preparing for college. She wears a 2, 4 and sometimes 5 depending on the style. Do you know the shirt size for the 14 year old? I'll let you know what we get together.

  13. Well today they are on Angham. And I had no proof of insurance. I thought that insurance cards were no longer required because they could check it on their computers. I guess I look honest enough because they let me go through (I think my English Springer Spaniel had the guys attention). It took me 45 minutes to find an insurance card in my files but now I'm all legal again.

Nice guys doing a thankless job. Thankless until some low-life with no insurance wipes out your $40,000 ride and your left to pay a deductible and use your insurance. Thanks guys, kick some butt!

Completely off topic, but we raise English Springer Spaniels, they are always trying to get someones attention when we're out. Would love to see pics. We have some beautiful four week old pups now. They are so busy -- just like mom and dad -- seeking attention and affection from everyone.

On another note, I'm with you -- I'm appreciative of the job being done to keep our roads safe and hopefully driven on by insured people.

  14. State patrol running speed traps almost every day. Now today there's a huge roadblock, about 15 cars and cops everywhere checking licenses and insurance. I'm driving a brand new truck, 3500 miles, and the cop is telling me I have an expired tag because he doesn't understand the tag law for company owned vehicles.

That's it, I go the other way from now on.

Roadblocks in several places this week. I'm glad to see they are doing something about finding those that are uninsured.
