  1. This is more involved than just a will. It concerns my elderly friend moving from rehab nursing to assisted living and eventually a nursing home. She has property that we need to dispose of and also make someone custodian of her and her property other than her family. Thanks in advance. I will be in and out today.
  2. They are constantly changing the curriculum. The federal government needs to be out of the business of education. When I graduated in 1968 I was ready for the world, for college, for civil service or the private sector. Jimmy Carter established the Department of Education in 1977. When my children started school in the eighties, I noticed change but not as radical as when my grandson was in school. Now I have a grandson in 2nd grade and I want to scream at the sheer frustration at what they are doing to these children. What was so bad with our education in the fifties and s
  3. I made shrimp Alfredo fettuccine with fresh shrimp. And it's all gone!
  4. Georgia's deadline to register to vote is Tuesday, October 11 Early voting starts Monday, October 17 Georgia voters can request absentee ballots before the election More than a half million people have registered to vote in Georgia since the March 1 presidential primary, as the states voter rolls have soared to an all-time high ahead of the Nov. 8 general election.
  5. I just saw a commercial with Nathan Deal saying to vote "yes" on Amendment One. So now you know you must vote NO.
  6. TWC says 1.1 Million customers without power in Florida. It's headed to Charleston now.
  7. I do that already and it never works. If you can't get them out then how can you make them accountable for their double speak, fully knowing they're confusing the voter in order to get the vote they want? Most people don't even study the amendments before they vote.
  8. I understand what your saying but speaking about the massive amount of land they will have to purchase for a round about, a traffic light just seems cheaper. There are houses right on the road at that intersection.
  9. Matthew came in above West Palm into Melbourne, the space coast and it's heading into Daytona now. I saw a report 500,000 are without power.
  10. If grandma lived in Homestead bless her. We took a trip to the Keys and Miami in December after Andrew in September and when we pulled into Homestead, it looked like a bomb had been dropped. It was devastating.
  11. We'll Miss Sophie you've got two under your belt. Maybe there won't be anymore this season.
  12. A traffic light would have been much more logical and less expensive. That's a tight little area to put in a round about. And yes people are dumbasses at roundabouts. But I guess they'll learn.
  13. No to all is right. They make these amendments confusing so people don't even understand what they're reading. That's why I always research amendments before voting so I know what I'm voting for (or not voting for). I wish there was some way to make these legislatures accountable for their double speak.
  14. This one is kinda like Andrew. You really don't want to hang around for this one. My cousins stuck it out in Miami and thought they were going to die. She moved to Franklin, NC. Her daughter soon followed. She said she wasn't going through another hurricane and she had lived there for 40 or more years.
  15. I agree a traffic light would have been better and less costly.
  16. Y'all are on the west side and it's expected you'll get a lot of rain. Even Disney closed, so you know it's bad. They opened up I-16 before lunch for convergent traffic. I-10 is backed up. I just really hate to see such a huge wicked hurricane tear up the Florida coast. Bad thing is it's going to hit Melbourne where I've been looking. Good thing is they haven't had one since 1999 so if it's another 20 years before they get another one, I'll be dead. LOL
  17. Hallelujah for all those people that have to go that way. I make sure I avoid it except early in the day. Man, what a mess while they're building it.
  18. If you're in a subdivision set them on the curb. They will be gone shortly. That's what I did when I lived in Powder Mill years ago. Most of the time the stuff was gone within an hour.
  19. More deceptive language in Amendment 1 There has been a lot of discussion about the constitutional amendment that will seek voters’ approval on the November ballot. The language of the question, as we have explained previously, is something every Georgian would want: “Shall the Constitution of Georgia be amended to allow the state to intervene in chronically failing public schools in order to improve student performance?” This may be one of the more deceptive preambles of all time, with the exception of referendums in California that are famous for meaning the exact opposite of what
  20. Georgia PTA slams state over new wording for constitutional amendment A group that represents a quarter million Georgia parents says Gov. Nathan Deal and state lawmakers are being “deceptive” and even “intentionally misleading” with wording they have chosen for November’s constitutional amendment affecting schools. Amendment 1 on the Nov. 8 ballot would create a statewide school district with a superintendent answering only to the governor. That superintendent would have the power to requisition local tax dollars and to take control of schools that perform poorly on a state report card
  21. The State of Things in Georgia — Vote No on Amendment #1. http://networkforpubliceducation.org/2016/09/the-state-of-things-in-georgia-vote-no-on-amendment-1/
  22. Honestly I don't want anymore government instrusion in our school systems. A NO vote will keep decision making at the local level. A "yes" vote supports authorizing the state to form an Opportunity School District that would govern certain elementary and secondary schools determined to be "chronically failing."[2] A "no" vote opposes authorizing the state to form an Opportunity School District that would govern certain elementary and secondary schools determined to be "chronically failing," thereby continuing to have school boards/districts supervise respective schools.[2] I noticed that
  23. Well I didn't exactly say that. I was covering the whole county. Greystone and Comcast are still where they used to be. The left lane lengthening is up and down Hwy 278. Hwy 92 just got repaved. I was talking about the whole county that I've seen. Sorry for any confusion. .
  24. I just came down Bill Carruth and they're out there working. I know it's been a pain in the butt, but it is going to be so nice when it gets open. They've worked on it for so long and done such a great job. And I don't think it will be long now. I think all of the new paving they've done on the other roads is so nice. More than anything I see all of the intersections that they are making the left turn lanes longer and it's going to help so much. But best of all, they're putting in a right turn lane right there where you come out of Greystone and COMCAST. I've always felt so bad
  25. I don't think any of it is a coincidence. I just wonder who's responsible.
