He states the government is not a lender of student loans, which is false as I pointed out. The government provides money for student loans through several federal programs and there is now more than $1.3 trillion in student loan debt. He chooses to believe the rise in tuition is because of supply and demand, which is true; but the federal government created the increase demand by making more federal student loan money available. Colleges and universities took advantage of the increased student loan funding from the feds by increasing their tuition rates. As I stated earlier, tuition h

The mechanism in place that makes it extremely difficult if not nearly impossible to terminate the employment of federal employees does not apply to the sheriff this topic is about, as he is not a federal employee. The sheriff was proven to be wrong in the lawsuit and he has also been indicted. He will most likely be convicted and do some time behind bars. One bad sheriff gone and that's a good thing.

There are student loans available through federal programs pubby, so the federal government is indeed a lender. Some loans are subsidized for those who qualify; those who can receive un-subsidized student loans. One key difference between the two are: interest does not start accumulating on subsidized student loans while the student is still in college. Un-subsidized student loans start accumulating interest just like any other loan you receive from the private sector, but at a lower interest rate. I did a research paper for grad school in 2016 addressing the high cost of obtaining a college education. During the 50s, 60s, and 70s; a full-time students attending public colleges and universities could work a full-time job during the summer break earning minimum wage and save enough money to pay for the tuition of the next academic year. Today, students would have to earn more than $36 an hour during the summer to earn enough money to pay for the tuition of the next academic year. Tuition has increased more than 400% over the last 40 years. The biggest cause of these increases in tu

This year was the first year since 2005, that the GDP was 3% or higher for three consecutive quarters. A large part of that growth is a result of Trump using his executive powers during his first quarter revoking Obama's executive orders that restricted businesses. TP appears to agree now that manufacturing jobs will return to the US, which will employ more Americans now that the corporate tax rates have been lowered. However, TP seems to think those manufacturers who will return to our country will run them as sweatshops. TP claims he feels like a genius when discussing these issues w

Do you know how ignorant you sound right now? -
No you haven't. All you have shown is a permanent tax cuts businesses received. You have not shown a single tax cut given to Americans that was permanent. Let me make this real simple and clarify for you that by Americans, I am not speaking of corporations. I'm talking about people like those who post here.

You do know that federal employees have a union making the process you're complaining about very difficult to change. I agree it needs to be changed so it is much easier to discipline and terminate federal employees. -

The point Gowdy was making is the protection mechanisms in place that make it extremely difficult if not nearly impossible to fire bad federal service employees. This has been a complaint for several decades now. -

In every profession you will find people who should not be there. The problem with employment in the federal government is the fact that it is very difficult to fire a federal employee. There are so many protection mechanisms in place making it nearly impossible to get rid of the bad ones. That was the point Gowdy was attempting to make with his questioning. Notice the woman stating she is not permitted to make any recommendations for discipline because of the protection mechanisms in place.
