  1. And…it is a *public* meeting, which means that you can attend the open session portion of the meeting, with your lips zipped. You can't "ask" them any questions. If you actually want to *speak* at these meetings, you have to call the Airport ahead of time and get on their meeting agenda to speak. The process to get on the agenda to speak before the Airport Authority is to call Director Blake Swafford. Now, everyone on the Airport Authority (and the IBA) are very busy people and they only meet for one hour per month. So, Director Swafford vets the calls and they only have time for *maybe* one o
  2. Sorry, Tundra, you are correct. I wasn't clear that Hardy is not on the Chamber's Board of Directors list. Thanks.
  3. Pubby: The citizens that are concerned about the airport expansion project were not the ones who ran the "Open Letter" full page ads in the New Era and the Paulding Neighbor. That was the Paulding Chamber of Commerce. *The Chamber decided* to put the Executive Board and Chamber Board of Directors listing in the sidebar of the ads. My question is: does that mean *all* of the Board of Directors listed in the Open Letter ad agree with the content of what was presented? I would like to know that if is true or not. I just this morning at 10:25 am called the Chamber office to inquire about info
  4. *Thank you* for this post, Steven. I agree with you 110%.
  5. Okay, I apologize to anyone that was hurt by what I posted eariler. I will go back in and delete it. I meant no offense to anyone. Again, I apologize.
  6. Okay: I'm taking all of my business and spending to Cobb (Acworth/Kennesaw) and Douglasville from here on out… I'm simply doing my job.
  7. Why are you so upset about this post? There are no "tactics" involved here. Like Pubby says, "it's the fact, Jack"...
  8. Well, an Act of God has already happened at the Paulding airport, the hanger was wiped out by a tornado. (Along with the planes and all the rental income from them being in the hanger.)
  9. pubby, You can run through all of my posts on this entire board. (There aren't that many.) My comment wasn't a "attack" against you *personally*, I'm just questioning why *YOU* decided to shut down the other thread. Now you are talking about a "mob mentally"??? Where is that coming from? I thought this was supposed to be a *community forum*. Sorry if you LLPT, Beach Bum, & Tahoe feel outnumbered lately. Feel free to close this topic too. Whatever.
  10. And thank you, Pubby, for shutting/locking down the other Airport thread because *you* thought it wasn't going in the direction you wanted to. Journalistic Integrity. Right.
  11. TAHOE, Everyone is entitled to their own opinions (on any topic), but why do your posts always come across so mean and hostile? I mean, this is a community discussion forum, sometimes I might agree with you on a issue, sometimes not, sometimes I might not care. It just seems like you wouldn't be a very pleasant person to know in "real" life based on the comments I've seen you submit. Just sayin'...
  12. So, a $2 million ampitheater and park are badly need County projects now?
  13. Oh, you didn't hear about the new $2 million dollar amphitheater and park they are putting in there yet? No lie.
  14. No, a $2 million park & amphitheater project on the corner of the Courthouse complex…(then MARTA)
  15. LPPT: Well, the Chamber's actions of late have, unfortunately, made me decide to move all of my spending dollars out of Hiram and Dallas and over to Acworth. The nail in the coffin was Hiram Mayor Doris Devey making the motion to approve the $1 million IBA loan to the Airport Authority in a specially called meeting. That was the only agenda item. They could have approved the loan in the previous regular IBA meeting, but Dallas Mayor Boyd, Jr. tabled it.
  16. Boy, for someone that doesn't even live in the county yet, you seem to have a better grasp of what's going on here that most of the locals. (hand clap) I oppose the airport expansion. And no, I do not work for Delta. So I guess the conspiracy head count is now down to 699.
  17. Correct. That point was mentioned several times in the bond hearing yesterday. 10 year bond (estimated at 2.25%) = $375,000 equally over the ten years. = $3,750,000 total. Propeller (dba: Silver Comet Partners, LLC) has agreed to drop in *up to* $500,000 into an escrow account to cover the repayment of the bonds. Which they have not done yet. $3,750,000 - (maybe) $500,000 = $3,250,000 the County is still on the hook for. That's *$325,000 a year over the ten year span* we would be holding the bag for if they pull out.
  18. Uh, you can just drive by the parking lot and see for yourself that the entire bottom floor of the Administrative Building is *empty*. They haven't even bothered to clean up the construction debris yet...
  19. pubby, I am not against "progress". I am not against bringing jobs to the county. I am against the manner that the is airport "deal" was put together in *secret* and the perception being promoted from our elected officials and the Airport Authority that this is a "done deal". Our small, insulated clique of power hungry county leaders can not see the forest from the trees right now. Why are all these huge decisions that affect all of Paulding County being made with *no* public input? Because they have gotten away with it for years now and it is OUR fault for not paying attention.
  20. Good point. Who does control the Silver Comet Trail in Paulding? The BOC? IBA? Going to have to start watching them on this one as well...
  21. pubby: Oh, just like the 2004 promise to *never* have commercial flights out of Paulding… "Never, Ever, Ever???" Right...
  22. Well, it is a "relatively speaking, small group of citizens opposing". That's because only a relatively small group of citizens even *know*, or are just now becoming aware of the airport expansion because of what? Let's say it again everyone: A LACK of transparency and openness from our elected county officials. ------------------------------- How can the "BOC weigh out every decision carefully" when they choose to leave one of their own out in the cold after far as their 'trusted inner circle' is concerned? It doesn't matter, the airport is only in his district. No big deal, I guess
