  1. Yep, they have made some strides (probably as much as they can without taking people's land) in making these roads a little safer. We can only hope they keep making progress as the years go by and budget allows. Great post, thank you!
  2. It's not unrealistic, but it's simply a dangerous road and someone made a decision to place many Paulding children there on a daily basis. Seeing the layout of those roads it's just very surprising to me that someone would consciously do that. A teenager, or anyone else for that matter, can take responsibility for an accident, but if someone dies, what does that matter? Also, if someone's child gets killed, I don't think it would be very compassionate or empathetic to say "oh well, life a 'bitoich' sometimes".
  3. We're obviously dealing with it, and yes, I agree that it is the responsibility of the drivers. However, many of those drivers are teenagers and I just don't think that was considered heavily enough in the planning to place the schools in that location. Even if an adult was the one who lost control on one of those turns or crossed the centerline, if a child from one of those schools was killed in the ensuing accident, it would be a travesty. I just feel that the way that route is laid out, it's just a matter of when that will happen.
  4. Thanks for the advice on the poll. I wasn't sure exactly how votes would be "seen" by others. I also thought it was a pretty neutral topic and people wouldn't have issue with others seeing if they voted yay or nay on it anyway. I didn't plan on visiting anyone that didn't agree with me but it was probably naive thinking on my part anyway.
  5. Although I love the North Paulding school complex (Burnt Hickory ES, Sammy McClure MS, and North Paulding HS), I absolutely abhor the roads leading into it, especially coming from Cedarcrest Rd. or Hwy. 41 on Dabbs Bridge Rd. With so many twists, turns, hills, and blind turns, it is only a matter of time before one or more of our children are seriously injured (or worse) on these roads. I can't be the only one that feels this way, right? I don't want to be a squeaky wheel and I understand it takes tax dollars to improve roads and in this case, people would lose land if the county tried to s
  6. My wife and I are about to put our home in Seven Hills on the market and will soon be interviewing agents so we are soliciting referrals for a realtor (selling agent). Can any of you recommend someone that has sold your home in the Paulding county area? I am looking for someone with a proven record, who's dedicated, technologically savvy (website, computer, cell phone apps, email, text messaging, etc.), and most of all HUNGRY! Thanks in advance!
  7. Hi gang! I am seeking referrals for a reputable house cleaning team or individual to clean an empty house in Dallas from which we recently moved. It is a 5-bedroom, 4-full bath house with basement, front porch, rear deck, rear patio, & double-car garage. We need the home cleaned top to bottom to make it move-in ready. No solicitations please. We are looking only for referrals from the customer, not business owners. Thanks in advance!
  8. I heard this on "The Bert Show" driving into work today and it rings SO true... "The Wussification of America. The Bert Show has covered this topic in depth - from teachers not being allowed to correct papers in red ink to team listings no longer being posted for fear of hurting the feelings of those who didn't make it, the 'wussification' of America gives every kid a gold star, a trophy, and a pat on the back, whether or not they deserve it.So what if the wussification of America spread to the Summer Games? A GOLD MEDAL FOR EVERYONE! Campus Basement writer, Alex Rosenthal, details the sca
  9. Honestly, I think the low voter turnout is due to everyone's disenchantment with the whole promise that our government representatives will look out for them. When, in reality, U.S. citizens feel that the only people its government figures look out for is themselves. No matter who seems to get in office, promises made during the campaign are all but forgotten because who, afterall, is going to hold their feet to the fire??? Everything nowadays has a reason why it cannot be accomplished and our government is so partisan now that if one side brings something up, the other side will shoot i
  10. I read this the other day and it addresses the female aspect of your question: To All the Single Ladies wanting to get married, here's a quick piece of Biblical advice: Ruth patiently waited for her mate Boaz. While waiting on your Boaz, don't settle for ANY of his relatives: brokeaz, poaz, lyinaz, cheatinaz, dumbaz, drunkaz, cheapaz, lockedupaz, goodfornuthinaz, lazyaz, or marriedaz & especially his third cousin beatinyoaz. PLEASE wait on your Boaz and make sure he respects yoaz! As far as the males go, I agree with KWood. 22-years-old is the age that everything should start comi
  11. Cars lined up or parking in the Publix parking lot at the front of Seven Hills neighborhood by 6:30. At least two 14 foot trailers loaded with kids came through the neighborhood. At least 20 kids without costumes came up to our door alone and get this...one mid thirty-something woman had the NERVE to come up to our door, look my wife in the eye, not say one word, and then stand there with her Wal-Mart bag wide open without a kid in sight. My wife said "Uhhh, you're a little old to be trick-or-treating". The lady said nothing, turned, and walked away. Our 160 pre-made bags of candy were go
  12. While waiting 3 hours and 20 minutes to vote at Russom Elementary tonight, something amazing happened. About 2 1/2 hours into the wait, a person, and I do not know who, ordered about 25 or so pizzas to feed all the people that had been waiting in line since getting off work. I just want to send out a very sincere thank you to that person. I was thinking to myself that I could not remember the last time I witnessed someone do something so selfless. It is just not common at all in our society. Your act of kindness was truly inspiring and I simply do not use words like that to describe thing
  13. I showed up at Russom Elementary at 6:20pm this evening with the Fox5 helicopter already overhead. I finally reached the poll booth at 9:40pm. UNFREAKINGBELIEVABLE!!! While in line I made sure to send Deidre Holden, the Paulding County voting supervisor, an email expressing my discontent (to say the least). This is completely uncalled for and something has got to be done to fix this from ever happening again. Something completely awesome happened while there though but it deserves an entirely separate post. Look for it as a main post in this forum.
  14. Well, my subject line says it all, does anyone know of a public running track around the northeast part of Paulding county? Does Allatoona High School allow the public on their track? I'm thinking not but thought someone might know. Thank you!
