  1. I just got off the phone with a producer at the Speed Channel who asked me to be part of a new show they are doing. Unfortunately I will be on my mission trip to Hungary when the relevant taping is to happen, so I have had to sacrifice this opportunity and just know that God has something else in mind. That said, I agreed to help locate other acts for "Fast Track to Fame." This is sort of a "got talent" show that will happen in rounds, moving from track to track as you advance. They want a wide range of acts to consider for March 6 at Atlanta Motor Speedway. The acts will perform on a
  2. Thanks. This will be my first time in the building, but I'm very excited.
  3. There are still a few seats left for the Hearts and Dreams 2010 gala show at the Earl Strand Theatre this Saturday night. I just checked on 2 tickets to see what was there -- "Best Available" showed row T. So you can certainly enjoy the show, but it looks like there is going to be a sizable crowd for this show. If you are looking for something to do Saturday night and have the means to make this kind of donation to the Cobb Humane Society, I assure you that the talent line-up is going to be outstanding. The Atlanta Lyric Theatre is now housed at the Strand and will be supplying performe

Tomorrow morning you have an FREE opportunity to make business connections with some great local businesses in a casual, round-table environment. In addition, at the January 8 meeting, I'll be bringing a copy of a DVD called Yes is the Destination, No is How You Get There. This disc is priced at $29.95 -- I'm giving away
  9. If you are a business owner, sales person, entrepreneur, or even a job seeker -- there is a monthly event you should consider. Networking in Atlanta meets on the first Wednesday night of each month -- one of the biggest such gatherings I know of. I meet a variety of people and business contacts every time I go. I am going tonight -- details are on the web site. Atlanta's favorite magician says - get in gear for the new year -- don't let a cold temp stop you from investing a few hours in growing your livelihood!
  10. Yesterday, Family Entertainers of Atlanta awarded their 2009 Magician of the Year award to Joe M. Turner. He has previously been named Greater Atlanta Magician of the Year (2000) by the combined local memberships of the International Brotherhood of Magicians and the Society of American Magicians, and is a finalist in this year's voting. What does this mean for you? It means you get to experience the best in magic and mentalism entertainment! Tonight, Joe's back to entertain guests at Paisano's on Cedarcrest! Kick off the new year with good food and entertainment. (Don't want to miss a
  11. Thank you to those who came out last night - it was a busy night and I was glad to be back after having been traveling all month. Last night I got an inquiry for a New Year's Eve gig - we'll see if we can fit it in among the other plans I've already made. I also made a great connection with an event planning company that has locations here and in Chicago. You never know who you'll meet if you get out there and work the town! I'll be back at Paisano's next Saturday night... hope to see you there!
  12. End the cabin fever - get out of the house and enjoy a nice meal and quality entertainment! I'll be performing table-to-table at Paisano's tonight -- hope to see some of you there!
  13. I put this together for a little MC bit. Maybe you'll find it useful or at least worth a chuckle. Where to purchase personalized Christmas gifts for: Tree planting crusaders - Things Retimbered Careless drivers - Things Defendered Sex change patients - Things Regendered Serial killers - Things Dismembered Video file duplicators - Things Rerendered French military leaders - Things Surrendered Dancers after sabbaticals - Things Relimbered ©2009 Joe M. 14. It worked for me once online, then I got an error message from youtube. Anyway, I've deleted the file for now while I work on it. I may just burn it to DVD and not worry about uploading it. In the absence of a link, here is a set of screen shots. Basic plot - I had the guy and his girlfriend write their initials on both sides of a 2009 penny. I did a couple of tricks with that, then wrapped the penny up and set it on a plate. I did a couple of card tricks to test the couple's "compatibility." He named a card, she named a number and counted down that many cards. The card he named was
  15. I have deleted the video file... it has some kind of glitch and is not running consistently. I wonder if something in the video got corrupted? Anyway, it worked when I uploaded it! The thing went off without a hitch!
  16. Rough video here... will try to get something better put together soon. It runs smoothly when I view it on YouTube, but jumpy when embedded here. I don't get it. Atlanta Magician Joe M. Turner - Proposal by Prestidigitation! video not working properly...
  17. Today is a booking I've been anticipating! This evening I will be in Buckhead to create a magical engagement moment for a young couple. Watch for the video to come early next week!
  18. If I were able to arrange a free or "pay what you can" magic show as a treat for the community - say, sometime between Christmas and New Year's Eve - would any of you make the effort to come out and bring your families? No tickets or obligation to pay - just some donation buckets in the room. Any funds received would go directly to support the mission trip my wife and I are taking in March. Any interest? Anybody have a location they'd care to donate to a fun, free community event? What say you?
  19. I just saw the notice on the front page video. The video file with the bulk of the parade video (nearly an hour and a half of footage including the parade participants as well as the Christmas greetings from many of the advertisers) has suffered a technical glitch on the part of the streaming company. Hopefully it will be resolved soon. The notice says that Pat has already contacted the streaming support group and they're going to see if that video file can be retrieved or otherwise salvaged. *fingers crossed*
  20. I was out performing this morning and afternoon over in Lilburn -- missed our parade. Hope my video "Christmas card" made the broadcast and that everyone had a great parade! I'm looking for the parade replay online but there seems to be a clip missing...
  21. I had a great time serving as MC for those shows, and the piano stuff is something I do for variety in situations where it makes sense -- particularly in MC settings, but sometimes for other situations. I have worked (and still do) as a professional pianist/vocalist and still do weddings and other gigs. For some of my corporate clients, I have written and sung special lyrics just for their specific gala. That's always a fun thing to do! It's not my primary business offering, but as in all things I do, I strive to deliver excellence. I appreciate you noticing. I actually had som
  22. If you have run a small business for any amount of time, then you know that the work you do lives after you. This came home to me yesterday... in a good way. The story... Yesterday I met with a new client for an event I'm doing in a couple of weeks. We were sitting in a pub/cafe in midtown -- just next to the Fox Theatre -- talking about the details of the performance and what we were going to do. As we discussed his event, I asked how he found me. I like to track how new clients find out about my services. As it happens, he had used a search engine looking for "Atlanta magic
  23. I wish I could be there - I'll be en route back from a show in Alabama and heading directly to a luncheon in Atlanta. Hope you all have a great meeting! I want to give some pre-meeting kudos to Randall Zimmerle from Z-29 Media - he met with me earlier this week and is helping me with some graphic identity ideas. Stay tuned!
