  1. Hey, I've never been to Swayze's but I have heard quite a bit about it. I'm a youth pastor at First Assembly of God in Dallas (1/2 mile past PC Library) and I personally throw shows on every third friday of every month(except this one-May) and I personally know a few of the bands that have played there, and I have them play at our church. Of course these are christian bands... I've heard a few discussions on how the place is a lil' inappropriate and some of these bands have even refused to play there... (keep in mind 'christian bands'), but then there are others that are like 'Hey, this IS our ministry, and if it's THAT bad, than what better place to minister'... So I think it just depends on what you believe, and what kind of parent you are. (not that I'm saying you're a bad one if you let her go), but like many others have said, becareful who she goes with, and hopefully she's got a good head on her shoulders.

And while we're speakin of loud music and punk/rock bands... my husband and I are throwing a show at the Paulding County Community Center May 21st! The bands are 'Flicker Record's' Subseven, Because of Tomorrow, and The Awkward Romance. The cost is $10.

If your daughter would like to listen to their music go to:

    GodSlave's Myspace

    Subseven's webpage

    The Awkward Romance

    Because of Tomorrow

  2. Could you just get a note from the doctor stating that he has a medical condition?  Then have the school keep a copy on file and your son keeps a copy in his backpack.  If anyone says anything to him he can flash the note.  If the teacher has any question about it they can call the office.

Yeah, at EPHS&MS, they requested DR. notes, if you REALLY had a condition. That way, you could go whenever.

  3. Call me lazy if you want but I just do not want to drag a garbage can to the curb.

    Thanks

Haha, I know how you feel :D

If I can even remember to take it down... we're never at home, so we may not even need it for 5 days, so my problem is leaving it on the curb. Now THAT'S lazy.

  4. Take this from a guy who was deployed for 15 months in Afghanistan.  You can't just pick up a phone and call anytime you want.  It can be very difficult to call home.  First, you have to be off duty as you will find yourself waiting in line for up to two hours at times to make one 15 minute phone call.

Deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan are not easy, espeically on the family members at home.  I was always very busy, making it difficult to sit there and wonder about home.  My wife on the otherhand, had to deal with all the things she normally had to deal with while I was home plus the things I used to do when home.  Then there was her constant worrying if anything bad was going to happen to me.  I am sure there were probably times when she and the kids wondered if they would ever see me alive again.

This boy who was suspended is going through the same thing my kids went through.  I'm sure he wonders often if he will see his mother alive and unharmed again.  Imagine the stress he is going through, especially when his mother is only able to call him once a month at no specific time.  Now his mother calls him and he happens to be at school and he hasn't heard her voice in a month.  The teacher who probably knows his mother is in Iraq is trying to take the phone away from him.  I would have gotten a little beligerent as well.  The teacher is lucky he only yelled at her.  Stress can make you do some things you normally wouldn't do.

    AMEN! :angry2:

My father was in the military most of my life, but thank God he was rarely deployed. I can't imagine how that boy feels.

  5. My child will not go to the bathroom at school all day.  He runs in the house to the bathroom like a bullet from a gun at 4 every day.  He says they are horrible and people harass you.  So he stays away from them.

yeah, my husband said it was like that at his school(woodland) so he would wait until DURING class to go. My best girl-friend would hold it all day also, and she had bladder infections regularly because of it. And one of my good guy friends that went to PCHS(I went to EPHS), if he ever had to go #2, he would call his mom, and make her come get him - just so he could go! He said it was terrible there and at HJMS, no locks on the doors and holes where the locks were supposed to be...

    What's up with that?!?

  6. I graduated in 2002, and I remember teachers being terds(haha) about b-room breaks. But for the most part if you kept bugging them, they would let you go.

And they way I see it, If someone wants to smoke in the b-room, skip class, or do something stupid, they are going to do it anyways, whether its during classes or not. -_-

  9. Listen to what my mom did for me! My mom, AKA Mrs. Walley, came to my house and washed and folded all of my clothes!!! haha, I'm not kidding!

And no, I'm not a lazy person, and I'm not a spoiled child!

Just to tell you a little bit about myself:

My husband and I work full time in Atlanta, Almost 2 years ago we started a photography business on the side(and it's picking up rather well), we are 2 of 4 youth leaders for Five Stones Youth Ministries @ First Assembly of God. And we have a baby on the way! ((BTW - In 2 weeks - May 21st, We are throwing a big Rock Concert at the PC Community Center, please come!!! If you want to know more about it pm me!))

WE are NEVER at home. We moved into our neighborhood 1 year ago, and we have yet to meet our neighbors - I kid you not. You should have seen our grass - Monday morning when my husband was putting mail in the mailbox, he found a lawncare business card with a quote on the back!!! And the Inside is worse. After we do laundry it just piles up in the guest bedroom, waiting to be folded.

A couple of weeks ago, I had to travel to South Carolina to take Kindergarten graduation pictures for a private school.... and Who was there taking up the money and dealing with 'stupid' parents?? MY MOM!, This past weekend we took the directory pictures for our church... who was the one that delt with all the people that were calling and rescheduling, taking up money, Fri & Sat. 9 am to 9 pm... and retakes this coming Sat!! - MY MOM!!

Sooooo this Monday night we had to drive to Griffin GA to attend a Speed the Light Banquet for the GA A.G. Youth Pastors, and when we got home..... our grass was cut(one of our youth kids did this, but we expected this later in the week), and when we walked in the house, all of our clothes were neatly folded on the guest bed!!!

Talk about receiving a blessing from GOD.... It felt like a brand new house!

Thank you so much MOM, and Happy Mother's Day!!!

  10. Ok...my two boys are 21 and 25 now....but, please tell me things haven't changed that much that children actually act THAT bad for real???!!!

I figured it was editing and Hollywood making those parents look that bad at parenting.

What ever happen to a good swat on the backside?  *grin*

I can remember both of mine squirming in church and not really being terrible, just distracting, and I'd pinch them.  It was always so funny because they would say "OUCH!! You pinched me!"  Then you really were distracting because the whole church would turn around and look at you.

I also had no problems with taking away privileges when they misbehaved.  But...a good whooping was always the best thing.

It seems like these days a parent can't be a parent for fear of having Child's Services come after you.  (and the bad thing is....the kids know this and use it to their advantage sometimes.)

p.s.  I love the show though.  It's always good for a laugh or two on Monday nights.

I've had a good many of those pinches! <_<
