  1. A magazine in 1968 discussing children born to unwed parents, predicted that by the year 2000 all children born in the USA would be born to unwed parents. Well, they were wrong, but what is the percentage now in 2014? Half are born to unwed parents? (at best, 40%) (that is a guess) Another example of people who predicted that the actions we were accepting and taking in the 1960's would have negative effects on the future of this country and it's people. (while the reality is that not every child can have a married mother and father in their life, I think we all will agree that children
  2. I hate to say this (it gives him the big head) but Glassdogs said it all.
  3. I am so glad you asked that question. That is the comedy band of Garfunkel and Oates, Riki Lindhome, the blonde, is Garfunkel and Kate Micucci, the brunette, is Oates. They sing songs about their lives and experiences, most of the songs are....R rated, but they are very clever and funny. Here are a few of their songs. Warning: some songs have a couple of curse words, including the F word) Live at the Gothic in Denver, CO Weed Card Video (about how "hard" it is to get a weed card in CA) Present Face Video (about the face you make when you get a bad present at Ch
  4. Four days and 4 hours and 15 minutes until....... in Tampa!
  5. Must be some of that common core I been hearing about.
  6. Let's not drag God into how you look, I'm quite sure that he/she had nothing to do with that.
  7. One word kept running through my mind while reading this. That word was....poppycock.
  8. I left off some of Fred's co-stars. Irene Dunne (in several films) Joan Bennett Frances Farmer Alice Faye Jean Arthur (in several films) Mary Martin Rosalind Russell (in several films) Paulette Goddard (in several films) Joan Crawford Dorothy Lamour Betty Hutton Joan Leslie June Haver (future wife #2) Ava Gardner Marureen O'Hara Claire Trevor Eleanor Parker Kim Novak Lana Turner Jane Wyman Greer Garson Not to shabby for a guy who considered himself "just a saxophone player".
  9. The only teams that they have beaten were the teams in their division. We're 4 and 6! We're 4 and 6! We're 4 and 6!
  10. I just finished reading a biography on Fred MacMurray, the star of such classic movies as Double Indemnity, The Caine Mutiny, The Apartment, the hilarious Murder, He Said, Disney classics like The Absent-Minded Professor & The Shaggy Dog, and the long running TV show My Three Sons. (not to mention some 100+ other movies) While the author was obviously a fan of MacMurray, they said up front that the book would not dish any dirt on Fred, not because they were against it, but because there wasn't any dirt to dish. Apparently Fred MacMurray was a lot like Steve Douglas, his character in
  11. To many that is the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.
  12. I have said it before, I think how you react when you see someone with a gun depends a lot on where you grew up. We just got in from visiting the grandkids in S GA. I stopped in a c-store for coffee at 8am this morning and counting me, there were 3 customers in there. All were men and all were carrying pistols, however, mine was the only one concealed. I was headed to the grandson's soccer game. It was a good thing that those people who called the cops and canceled the soccer games in S Forsyth county weren't there, because I saw three guys with open carry pistols, just going from the par
  13. Did you put that much effort into determining whether or not the criminal Brown was attacking that poor police officer? Of course the paper is not going to say what color the scum was, remember to when the AJC stopped putting to race of the criminals in the paper, because the black "leaders" said it was racist? I tell you what, let's bet a hundred dollars, I'll take black and you can have every other race and if they ever find these lowlifes we can see who collects. Deal?
  14. Just for the record, it is legal to punch a mime.
  15. Unless there is some reason to think otherwise, here is what I think when I see someone with a pistol on their hip. "Ohh look, there is a guy with a pistol. Wonder if they have cookies here?"
  16. Even if they didn't find a pot of gold. The end of a rainbow.
  17. I only heard about it because I was listening to a radio station from that area. But then again, I don't keep up with a lot of local news, so it may have been mentioned. My point was to try and say that this is the kind of thing all who consider themselves "leaders", both self appointed and elected and of any race or color, should be protesting about. Not some criminal who was shot while trying to disarm a police officer. In other words, there are things that truly need to be shouted about and marched on and have the community up in arms about and these are those kind of things. But
  18. Nope, not intentionally. I just think that this little girl's death is something worth protesting, worth the attention of the country, the AG and the president. These are the killings that should upset the community and our, or any self proclaimed, leaders. Not the killing of a criminal.
  19. "Milwaukee girl, 5, shot dead sitting on grandfather’s lap, watching TV" But what you don't see in the news is that this was a white family in a black neighborhood. Could that be the reason at least 14 shots were fired into the house? I don't know, but then neither does anyone else. Where is the outrage, the protests, the looting, the US AG? Is it because the child was white and the perpetrators were black? After all, one thing we know to be a fact in this case, the little girl had neither committed a crime, nor was she attacking anyone when she was killed. If there is any good ne
  20. I think I like him. I know that Charles Barkley is very outspoken and has said some things and/or done some things that he shouldn't, but to my knowledge, he has always admitted his wrong and tried to not repeat that behavior. The more I read about him and what he has to say, the more I see a man fighting for "his people" in a way that I see as being positive. It takes someone with inner fortitude to say the truth, especially when that truth is not pleasant to hear. Here is something that Charles said that caught my attention. I say good for Mr. Barkley and I wish other so called "blac
