  1. I debated hiring a full time person to work for CPC, but there were a few issues.

    1) I have a full time "Corporate America" job that requires a lot more than 40 hours a week

    2) Recently I've been asked to travel with less than 24 hours notice, which could lead to some unhappy pcommers if they had to wait an extra week to get their machine back :)

    3) Working out of my house means someone sitting in the same room as me all day doing pickups/dropoffs/phone calls, while I'm on conference calls and such. I've done it in the past and its very distracting and impacts my productivity.

    4) In addition to my full time job I teach at Chattahoochee Tech which I absolutely love

I debated it for awhile with my wife and after weighing all our options this seemed like the best thing to do. While I really enjoy doing CPC I find teaching more rewarding (and what I want to do when I retire) and my corporate gig is what pays the big bills.

As far as recommending someone else. Obviously Subby has never worked on my computer but I wouldn't hesitate to use him. Also I've talked with Charles at Home Media Svcs many times. He is a very nice guy and seems to know his stuff.

I have a separate number so luckily I won't have to deal with any sales calls long term, although I never got that many anyway.

Didn't realize you also had a corporate job and did this on the side. In that case yeah, 80+ hours a week plus a family, good for you. You gotta take a stand.

  2. That's good advice, but if you've never hired someone else, many of us know how tough it can be to hire the right person for the job. Nick's name is on his work, just as mine. The people we hire have to meet that criteria to some extent- this is very hard to find, at least it has been for me.

As do mine. I've owned my own business for 10 + years. My father started it in 1982 and handed it over to us in 2002. He has a hard time letting us run it, but we have made more money running it than he did.

  3. If you have that much business, hire an employee or two.. Family does come first but you still have to provide for them. Don't cut your nose off despite your face.

Obviously you have what people want. You are very good at what you do. You have more work that you can do alone. Yet you walk away from it. Dude, you got a money maker. Learn to manage it.

  4. I'm bringing this back from last year with timely information.

I got one reason to stuff it.

    IT'S FREAKING DELICIOUS!

Hasn't killed me in 45 years.

And besides, I proved it to Blondie last year that the turkey was perfectly done. Nice and moist. The internal temp of the stuffing was 165. Right where it should have been.

  5. We went to Afredo's Italian on Cheshire Bridge Rd. tonight. We went to see Cirque du Soliel Totem this afternoon so we were downtown.

I had Saltimbucco which wasfreaking awesome!

Blondie had Manicotti which was equally awesome made with homemade ricotta.

Dessert was homemade Ricotta cheesecake and cannoli which Blondie actually cried just a touch when she tasted it. It was that freaking good. .

  6. I have been to several factories in China for my previous job at Home Depot. Most of the workers are no different then American factory workers and enjoy their jobs as best they can. What this report doesn't include is that they get 3 weeks off at a time during various parts of the year (including their biggest holiday the new year) and don't pay for their room or food when they are living on site. They also are not required to live on site if they have means to get back and forth to work everyday and be on time. HOWEVER, due to the location of the factories compared to where they live and the over population of the country stressing the road ways that is all but impossiable. This is much to do about absolutly nothing.

I have a friend of mine that worked for Home Depot that used to go to China a good bit too. He now works for one of the vendors he was going to China to see.

  7. Half this country right now pays no income taxes, so where do you draw the lines to determine the middle class? If you take the middle third, that means half of that "middle class" would be paying no income taxes. That means one-sixth of this country would be deemed "middle class" but still would have no income tax burden.

At some point, we're going to have to start asking these people to start paying some kind of taxes, as if we raised taxes on the rich to 100 percent, it still wouldn't fund our country for an entire year (which shows how how deep of a hole, or how big government has become, with the help of Republicans and Democrats).

As tough as it is, this country has to learn that many of the things people consider necessities are really luxuries. Cable TV is a luxury (the library is FREE). Homes can be a luxury. Nice cars are a luxury.

Yes, I believe at some point, people are too poor to be required to pay income taxes. But when half my fellow countrymen aren't paying their fair share for needed government services (roads, schools, police and fire, etc.), that's a problem.

Werd. But alas it falls on deaf ears. Wealth envy and class warfare is all these feeble minded people know.

  8. Don't worry, it won't be up for long. It's been removed before and it will be removed again. Just more pandering to voters by politicians and they fall for it. And as I said before, prayer isn't the issue at school sporting events. It's the Public School System sponsoring the prayer service that is the problem. Do you really want the federal government sponsoring such things? Do you really want the federal government in everybodies religion? Do you want President Obama deciding such matters on what the national policy for Christianity should be and the interpretations that would be applied? It never ceases to amaze me at so many people not wanting government in their lives but government in their religion...

    Werd!

And the only thing he should be deciding is what shoes he will wear today. It's all he is qualified to do and that is even questionable.

  9. Pretty standard fair in the Georgia High School Association, GHSA. It has been that way for years. When my son was at Riverside Military they were part of the Independent High School Association. His junior year they switched the the GHSA and had to quit having an organized prayer before the game.

    The team said a prayer.

    The band said a prayer.

Many parents said a prayer, especially if the other team was full of 350 pound monsters.

But the school could not have the chaplain say a prayer.
