American Legion Post 111 On 2587 Scoggins Rd is having a catfish fry on Saturday June 23rd 12 to 5.Plates are 7 dollars and consist of catfish filets,cole slaw,baked beans and your choice of regular or jalapeno hush puppies.All proceeds benefit the Sons Of The American Legion programs such as Helping Hands and helping with the Cops for Kids program. There was one child that never communicated with anyone.After playing ball for one season,he started talking to his parents and doctors about baseball.It's an incredible hour to spend.My son has CP and has enjoyed playing for the Angels for years,but when talking about them to people in the community,nobody has ever heard of them.I just wanted to get the word out. Did you know Paulding County had there own special needs baseball team?The Dallas Angels play ball in the gym at Mt.Tabor Park starting this Sat Sept 10th at 11 am to 12 noon.Any child can come to the gym and play regardless of physical or mental handicap.It cost nothing to play and you need no special equipment.Anyone interested in playing can PM me for more info.There's no better blessing in this world than watching a child's face light up when they can play ball. Cpl Todd Love is a Marine who was injured by an IED last year and lost both legs and one arm.He will be celebrating his 21st birthday at our Legion on Sat April 30th.We will be leaving his moms house in Winston and traveling Post Rd to Ephesus Church Rd to Liberty Rd to Hwy 61 to Scoggins Rd to The American Legion.We will be leaving his moms house at 2:15 and will be arriving at the legion around 3:00 to 3:15.We are asking anyone that can,line the roads with your flags and help Todd celebrate his 21st birthday. I don't mean to be a glory hound,but it was Legion Riders not Freedom Riders that escorted the Lt home.Along with your Dallas post there was also Powder Springs,Austell and Douglasville Legion Riders involved.It was one of the most moving welcome homes we have done.Bringing a soldier home on Veterans Day was awesome!!! For anyone interested,The American Legion is traveling to the Atlanta Airport on Sunday Oct. 17th to meet and greet soldiers being deployed and the ones coming home.We are meeting at the Legion on Scoggins Rd @ 7:30 am and usually return around lunch.It means a lot for these young soldiers to have someone there to show they care.If anyone wants more info,please feel free to pm me. The turn out was great.The family was so moved and thats all that mattered.We got to Dobbins to pick up our HERO and picked up about another 200 people.The police actually shut down 75 and 575 for the procession.People stopped and got out of their cars going south bound and saluted and covered their hearts.Today made me proud to be an AMERICAN.Lets all remember the family tonight in our prayers.They have got a lot of healing to come.
