  1. Yeah. Because SOMEBODY said that even after the TV news reports and his resigning and all that, she didn't know if he had an affair or not. I was just checking to see if anybody else had been smoking that same stuff. :yahoo:

Do you ever have a happy day? I can't wait till you have one so we can all read your posts............... :nea:

  2. I believe 3 of those BOE members are gone now. Elections have consequences and that is a fact. There is no getting around the counting of votes and we lost in the bond issue BS. I wish it had gone differently but the majority of the voters who came to the polls got what they voted for. I wonder if they would do the same thing today or for that matter if the same BOE members would do the same thing today. We sure do have a different economic picture in Paulding today than we had then.

You are correct. I think things would be different.

  3. MADEA Really do not think it is a moot point,Seems that Mr.Curl will have to meet the voters this year if he intends to run again for the school board?

If my memory serves me the School bond was voted down the first time,And was passed the second time around after thousands of special interest campaign $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ was injected into the campaign. If mr.Curl runs for re election for the school board I fully intend on reminding the voters of all of his votes to raise our taxes, After all incumbents should not mind running on their records RUGHT???????

I am not in this discussion like the rest, but I was going to post the exact same thing. Thanks Whitey. I was very disappointed that the second time around was politically planned and many SCARE tactics were used to influence a few more voters. I voted it down twice and would do it again. Monies can ALWAYS be found if it is truly needed. I was always told it is easier to spend someone else's money than your own. That is what leads to irresponsible spending.

  4. I agree with you about Sonny! I am very happy to be getting the chance to vote for a new Governor. You can bet your bottom dollar that I WON'T be voting for one that will hold hands with Obama! That would be very bad for Georgia in my opinion. I won't vote for Roy. I was truly glad to see him leave. I think folks need to be very careful who they vote for in the primaries.

From what I've seen over the past year, holding hands isn't sufficient.

  5. Glenn Richardson's resignation from his seat in the legislature for District 19 was not effective until yesterday. Governor Perdue issued a writ of elections as soon as he could, when the resignation took effect, calling for a special election to be held on February 23, 2010.

I believe the new Secretary of State will have to state when qualifying will begin and finish.

A candidate will have to declare a party affiliation, but there will be no primary, simply an electoral process until someone gets 50% plus 1.

Wow surepip, that isn't much time to campaign. I hope someone with the right experience gets in. We need to be cautious on this one.

  6. Does this appear strange to anyone else? Statement released by the Police Dept:

The death news of 28-year-old Jimmy Sullivan was confirmed by the police department in a statement. The statement was released by Huntington Beach police Lt. John Domingo that goes something like this, James Owen Sullivan stage name “The Rev” appears to have died of natural causes this Monday afternoon in his Huntington Beach Home.

Do 28 year old men die of "natural causes" ? My guess would be no. We'll wait and see, I could be wrong.

  7. I am not one to start rumors so I hope this post doesn't imply anything different. I know there aren't any facts coming out about the two resignations but my curiosity is going around in circles. If this resignation was nothing but taking another job or simply stepping down, why would the facts be kept secret? Why isn't anyone talking and saying just that? If I got another job and left for it, why all hush hush? They secrecy around this is what is stoking the fire of gossip. If it was just a resignation, then say it. That's all. THEN, rumor mills would be closed down. Right?

  8. Yes that is what a REPORTER would do. As we all know there are MANY times when people are told that either they resign or they will be fired and there are times when good honest people will quit because of things going on they want no part in. Either way a reporter will dig and find out the truth and report it. I guess we can hope that one of the NEWS networks in Atl. will get hold of the story and we can see a report of it on TV. Guess I will go post the question on WSB web site to see if any info is out there.

    :clapping:

  9. BS:

The public's right to know would, in my opinion, depend on whether the issues involved directly their public duties or whether the issues were strictly private.

For instance, I find the salacious gossip regarding Tiger Wood totally absurd. The guy is a public figure because he can drive a golf ball, not a car. He was not elected to any public office and there is no hint of rape or other possible criminal behavior in any of his private affairs. I therefore find it of such minimal interest what he did, has done, and who he did it with and to as to be totally and utterly disinterested.

About the only way I would be interested in going further in this case is if there were serious allegations of criminal behavior. I would expect such serious allegations to come from either the Internal Affairs Department of the Hiram Police Dept (if there is one) or from the Paulding County Sheriff's office.

I've heard not one hint of criminal abuse of office in this case and would be exceedingly surprised and disappointed if there were.

I will add that there is a legal difference in the the public's right to know about the Chief and the Lt. ... as the chief - a former candidate for public office ... is much more a public figure than the Lt. At this point in time, in my opinion, the more strict limit of privacy that attaches to the Lt. also attaches to the chief.

Uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh..................did you not get my post? Should I even bother to explain? Maybe you need to go back and see just onnnnnnnne more time. I was just making light of the "gossip" opportunity. No seriousness at all in my post. So please, don't pick me out the crowd. :nea: Shame, shame.
