  1. Meanwhile, eager to get back to his office, Brownstone kissed Adrienne on the cheek and walked to his car. He thought of her often, but knew he had to find his brother....with no distractions. He arrived back at the Beer House just before 9:00 pm, parked in the fenced area in the back, and entered through the back door. His office was calming and he let out a great sigh as he sat in his antique leather chair. Brownstone removed the key from his pocket. He looked it over for a minute, then proceeded down the hall to the storage room. Inside the storage room there were the usual cleaning supplie
  2. She secretly longed for his touch...to be in his arms, but only dreamed as it hasn't happened yet. She knew from the look in his dark grey eyes that he meant business, serious business...and it was not the right time. They quietly walked to the back deck where 2 glasses of fine red wine were awaiting them. Enjoying the setting sun, they drank the wine and made small chit-chat, but no more mention of Clayton...for now. Brownstone thought only of what he had to do as he reached down and gently touched the key in his pocket. He knew he had to get back to his office soon...
  3. Stashing those memories for a moment, Brownstone got out of the car and walked up the pathway to the immaculate mansion ahead of him. She was a tall, natural blonde beauty. Stunning for a middle-aged woman, but with many dark secrets of her own. She wasn't like all the other women. She had her own money and intelligence beyond her years. Adrienne Girard, a French immigrant from childhood, once the lover of Angelo...
  4. Brownstone gently slid the key into his deep courdoroy pocket as he answered his awaiting phone call. "Mr. Brownstone, this is Luigi Carbarone. Angelo is requesting your presence on Friday evening at 8:00 to attend a formal gathering at Carmine's on East Avenue". Luigi abruptly hung up the phone, without any confirmation from Brownstone. The smile came back to Brownstone's leathery face, just a hint, as he hung up the phone and pulled the key out of his pocket.
  5. Brownstone entered the familiar crowded beer house, now hiding the secret smile he had on his face a short time ago. The beer house belonged to Brownstone. He had built it 30 years ago. It was a safe place, as Angelo and The Family never entered through it's highly public glass etched doors. Fashioned after German pubs of days long ago, there were beer steins from all regions lining the walls and the wonderful smell of weinersnitchel and fresh pumpernickel bread filling the room. Brownstone asked the bartender for a glass of dark lager and went to his office in the back of the pub.
  6. Mr. Brownstone parted through the door respectfully, back down to the cobblestone street. With the faint gleem in his dark grey eyes, he knew secretly...it was not over. His articles were genuine, however they had more more influence than Angelo would ever realize. A faint smile came to Brownstone's face as he strolled down toward the crowded beer house.
  7. He quietly set the package into Angelo's hand. There was a small glint in Angelo's eye as he opened up the envelope of secrets. The contents were laid upon the table...a hefty man's diamond ring, with 3 square diamonds set into a platinum wide band, a photo of what was once Mr. Brownstone's house of memories, and a key. Not just any key. A sterling silver filligree key with a silk maroon colored tassle tied to the end of it. Angelo was pleased with the delivery, although the smile never came across his cold dark face. He offered Mr. Brownstone a cup of his fine Italian cafe, both enjoying the
  8. He often wondered why Angelo Batista, the Godfather, had migrated to his small cobblestone town. Wondering why Batista now resided in his own house of memories. Had Batista's own family ruled him out of Sicily? Mr. Brownstone reached for the old iron door knocker and banged three times, then two.
  9. Ah yes, Mrs. Owens, a crotchety old lady. He approached her reluctantly, wondering why she never smiled. He tipped his hat and said "Good morning Mrs. Owens", then turned quickly as she frowned and proceeded to swing her silver embedded cane toward his right kneecap. He stepped back just in time. He then tipped his hat again, said "Good Day", and quickly proceeded back down the familiar cobblestone walkway. Ahead just past the busy beer house was a grey marble stairway leading to an iron embellished red wooden door...
  10. He took out his key and slowly opened the safe deposit box. Inside was an old faded yellow envelope, torn about the edges, but still full with Mr. Brownstone's many secrets. He gently tucked the envelope into the deep pocket of his pants, tipped his hat again to the officer on the corner, and proceeded down the cobblestone paved sidewalk.
  11. Wanna play? I'm going to start with a paragraph of a story. I want everyone to add their own paragraph, adding to the story line. Rule: You must add to the last paragraph keeping the story flowing. You can add characters, but the main focus will be on Mr. Brownstone. I am really curious to see what kind of story line we can come up with! Who knows? Maybe we can all come up with a really cool story! Here goes... Mr. Brownstone had secrets buried from many years past. There was always wonder in his dark grey eyes, wondering if that little gleam would reveal what he has concealed fo
