  1. Westside

Not sure what you are trying to convey here by saying guilty pleasure and rubbing it in.

Just expressing my opinion, sorry if you are hurt by this, guess your folks didn't win. Just assuming, since I'm not sure what you are implying with your comment.

  2. So glad to see the people I voted for are winning. I think the best ones for the job have been chosen thus far.

Sorry Ken Ball, you really worked hard on your campaign and I thought you might win it. No offense but I am glad Bruce is still in there.

Maybe next year when he is ready to retire, you can have it.

    Go Paulette

The results have amazed me. From the polls and comments on paulding.com I thought some of the new candidates would win. Guess these polls are not reliable.

  3. No intimidation from Democrats where I voted. The Republican ballots were the only ones I saw picked up during the time I was there voting. Had to be at least 20 people there, NO orange or white tickets were any where in the room!

  4. I'm glad some of you have the time to watch TV.

As for me, I keep myself busy with my own reality show at home and work and work and home and business and home and work and yard and laundry and painting and buying and shopping and gardening and canning and swimming and exercising and reading and crocheting and sewing and .............

What is a TV reality show about? I haven't seen one yet that was a REALity show.

  5. Dag,

Haven't heard from you since your posting. Have we been able to help you with your frustration you expressed. This posting is here to help people understand things they may not.

I am glad you asked the question so the truth could be know and bad feelings abolished. Has this done this for you I hope.

    Sincerely

    Wanie

  6. Kal0417, I'm sorry, I didn't intend it to sound like you were bashing the SO, it was the wording in Dags post that stirred that emtion in me, not yours.

    Sorry

    Se915,

please remember the posting, ONE OF MR. CURLS SONS WORKED FOR COBB CO AND REQUESTED THAT THEY ESCORT HIM FROM PAUDLING TO COBB. There was no reason for PCSD to escort them as well, they had an escort.

If a person has a funeral in one county and gets buried in another, it is "standard" procedure for that county to escort the procession to the county line then the other county officers take if from there.

But in this situation, Cobb county was asked to escort all the way.

Think of it this way, if a PCSD dies, has his funeral in Cobb County and is going to be buried in Paulding Co then the PCSD would escort him all the way from Cobb back to Paulding. Every situation is different and until we get all the facts, we need not jump to conclusions.

  7. Freebird, first let me thank you for your honesty on the call.

But let me clear up one issue, Clarks runs 3 (three) trucks in the county, not 2. Most of the the time they have a 4th truck called a day truck that does non-emergency transfers etc in order to keep the Advanced Life Support trucks availabe.

I agree the county is growing by leaps and bounds. I applaud you taking action to teach your family CPR and first aide measures. Everyone should do this, because you may be out in the woods hiking or like Mr. Curl (rest is soul) and you will need to render aide to yourself or another person. Being PROACTIVE is my way of living and I am glad to see you are doing so yourself.

The old saying, the squeeky wheel gets the oil, well I hope you do keep us and the county informed of these long response times so that maybe Mr. Clark and the county can work out something to make Paulding a safer, more secure place to live when it comes to an emergency.

I know the fire dept is working hard to get paramedics at each station so they can start advanced care, just like Cobb, Douglas and many other counties have, but until we can play catch, keep educating your family on basic life support and first aide.

    Kudos to you

I would also like to mention, Clarks utilizes a local (based in Cartersville) helicopter service called Emory Flight to transport critically injured and medically sick people to downtown hospitals that have higher technology than Paulding, Cobb or Kennestone. But when the weather is bad, then the helicopter can't fly so they have to ground the person out of the county which can keep them out of service longer. So thank them for utilizing this valuable resource they have just right down the road. It can definitely make a difference in the outcome of a persons recovery.

  8. Let me explain why CCPD was escorting the funeral procession before EVERYBODY

bashes Bruce Harris for not being a good sheriff please!

One of Charles' son works for CCPD, and out of respect for his son, they lead the funeral procession. There were no PCSD cars needed since they (CCPD) were asked to guide the funeral.

Please let's find out the facts before we jump on soap boxes.

The house I can't explain except that I have seen this occur in other counties. Maybe they started in Cobb and they just offered to continue their trip through Paulding. ;)

  9. I was reading the General county wide news section and was looking at some of the times that were posted on there. Rescue enroute, rescue on scene, Clarks enroute, Clarks on scene. A majority of these show Clarks arriving within 1-2 minutes of rescue arriving.

I am just curious since there has been some disscusion regarding resonse times. I haven't seen ANY long times on this site.

Where are we getting this from?

  10. MrsC.

I loved your comment. It is one we all need to realize EVERY day of our lives. The old saying, make the best of today because it could be your last, is one we should embrace.

We are so busy and unitentionally self centered in our own lives we forget to appreciate and thank others that do take the time to smell the roses and share that wonderful fragrance with others.

I pray we can all take a second out of our day and thank someone for just being there and smiling.

I made it a point not long ago to make a change at my work. I decided that every day, I would pick out someone (regardless of their job, title) and thank them for the hard work they do. Tell them that each and every one of our jobs are important to make the company work. Without them, we would not be.

The responses I get are unbelievable, there have been tears of joy and some of the biggest smiles on that persons face for the rest of the day.

Let's all make this world a better place everyday instead of waiting until we lose someone and it is too late to let them know how special they are to you, even strangers!

Judy, I pray for you, I know how much you love and respected Charles, we are here for you!

  11. What kind of bird was it?

I've heard the old wives tale that if a bird comes to your window or gets in your house, it means death is near for someone.

I believe it is a specific type bird though. I THINK

  12. With standing room only the people of Paulding said good-bye today to Charles Curl. People stood and told stories of their great experiences in knowing him. The service was wonderful.

Heaven now has another advocate angel for us all on earth.

Please pray for the families to help them through the days ahead.

  13. I love the comments on the job market being slow down here.

It is amazing how many advertisments there are in the AJC for jobs. Hospitals needing not only licensed workers but ancillary help too.

There are many jobs out there, but I believe that the jobs must not be what they want to do, so they just sit back and complain that there are no jobs out there. We all have to start somewhere and sometimes, we have to start over. But money is money.

Go to the AJC web site and peruse the help wanted section, bet you will find something in there that will help you pay your bills until a job comes along that you really want.

    Good luck

  14. The falls are in Burnt Hickory off Hwy 61 north from Dallas. Turn left on to High Shoals road, go about 6-7 miles and you will see a sort of fork in the road, High Shoals Church will be just to the right in front of you at the "fork". Veer left and start looking left for a cemetary. This is the entrance to the trail to the falls. I haven't been in many years, but you should be able to see some evidence of parking there. Used to be beautiful, hope it still is, some people say so. Take a picinic lunch, swim suits for the kids to play in the water at the bottom of the falls. The hike is not long at all, but it is cool and you may want to sit and enjoy. Please take your trash back with you.

Picketts Mill old Battelfiedl in off 92 North towards Hwy 41 (hwy 381 from Dallas turns in to 92 at an intersection , road on left is Cedar crest road. I am not sure as the exact location of the battlefield but the COC may have that information.

The museum is located in down town Dallas. If you go to downtown and get on the road BEHIND the Regions Bank, that little road will take you right to it. Will be an old red wood building on your left. Might want to call for times. Has civil war history, people of Paulding history etc. I really enjoyed it. Also they sell Paulding Historical books there, I have one and enjoy reading it.

The bridge on the silver comet trail is a sight to see, but I love going to the entrance at Coots Lake off 278 towards Rockmart. It is a further drive than the Chamber entrance but the old rail road tunnel you ride through is beautiful and very cool (temp wish). In the spring and fall the foliage over the bridge is just breath taking. There is also a gold fish pond on one end of the bridge. Hey, make a day of it, take some bikes, a picnic lunch, lots of water(camel backs are good) and make it a family day. They do have benches along the way and some have picnic tables.

Well, again, maybe there is a lot of family things to do in Paulding where you are outside and not in some building all day. Explore Paulding, have fun.!!!

As for Travis Tritts house, all you can see is the brick fence around it, but it is still cool to drive by and say you have seen his "place". I have had an opportunity to fly over it and took pictures. It is a pretty spread with a lake, walk way to a gazebo in the middle of the lake, horses etc. But he does love his privacy when he not on tour and spend time with his family. Please respect that as all the citizens of the county do. Hey if you go to Long Horns every night after 8Pm, you might catch a glimpse of him there!

Hope this helps and hope your visit with your father is precious.

Glad you took my advise, I feel better knowing that you ruled out anything serious immediately.

Please follow up though, you will need continued care.

Did the hospital set up payments for you, did they work with you on this.

They are great people there, Dr. Amaya is the best there. I work with her enough to know this. She is also amazing because not very many females make it through med school to become ER docs or surgeons. It is the toughest two areas to get through. We are very proud of Dr. Amaya and her accomplishments.

    Hope you feel better.

  16. The drive to Atlanta area would be much better if mass transit streteched out to Cobb, Paulding, Douglas, Polk, Bartow and Haralson Counties. Many many people drive from these area into Atlanta.

But people think mass transit brings crime to the suburbs. Well, I see it happening a lot without mass transit, they just steal the cars and drive out here, speeding, running from the law and making the roads even worse.

If mas transit would build where they could drop off in several convienient locations in the city and free transportation to the office buidlings (added in to the transit price) then people might use it.

Right now you have to drive through the worst part of the roads to get to the mass transit, by the time you get to it, you are only 10 more minutes away from where you need to be.

If you stopped at this point, then you have to get out, catch the train, and with many stops, get to work 30 minutes than if you just drove it.

The transit system really needs to be looked at long and hard, because as many houses are being built in this county alone, it is only going to get worse

Let's be proactive and instead of reactive in this county for once. Be the leaders, set the example, show Cobb and others how it really needs to be done.

    Go get em Commissoners.
