  1. FreeBird, you asked me to define "proper and clear" understanding in regards to my post from last evening.

It is my thought that Mr. Avery has an appropriate and respectable understanding of Paulding County needs which comes from researching the issues and being accessible to talk to business owners, community leaders, blue collar workers, the unemployed, senior citizens, etc. I believe that his responses have been easily understood and without ambiguity. I also believe that his passion for making Paulding County a more appealing community will be an asset under the Dome.

Are you Really just Will Avery.

  2. I personally come here all the time for info, but I am still amazed at the number of people who do not come here or have never even heard of it when I mention p.com.

I understand what you are saying, I really do, but my real point (at least in this thread :) ) was that most voters do not even know about any of the issues that have come up. I seriously have not spoke with one person that is aware of any of the information released (arrests or bankruptcy) on her here. Not one. Now granted I am the only one of my friends that come here daily, but I was still very surprised.

Animal is really not going to decide my vote. :) I just wish that whole group of them would stop taking such satisfaction in local* politicians problems. It is so ugly and I really can not stand when they do it. I can hardly read a thread with out hearing how horrible a local candidate is, about robber barrons, and Jerry Shearin! I will say I have not seen (or at least had my blood pressure rise) that in your posts.

    * Yes I do see a difference in comments regarding a local candidate and a national one. We live with these people in our community. They are our friends and family. We see them at Kroger, our children go to school together.....

No one is perfect. You can present the facts, they are running for an office and they are needed, but you can present facts with out celebrating them and being so darn ugly.

  3. You would be well-served to carefully re-read everything I have written regarding this latest information.

Yes, I was hard on Stout. I'll own that. I also didn't put anything on p.com that I didn't say directly to him in a personal conversation where 2 adults discussed issues. Can you say that? I know for a fact that you aren't privy to any of my personal conversations.

I think Beach Bum speaks quite well for herself. She doesn't need you to twist her words.

  4. Compared to many professions teachers are pretty lucky but I guarantee we earn every penny and if you stepped foot in a classroom you would realize that and yes the police are underpaid as well. However, I don't disparage the jobs of others and I'm pretty damn tired of people disparaging mine. If you think my job is so damn easy, become a teacher.

  5. Just my two cents (and almost worth it :)

I have no problem with increasing the fees for services provided by the state to a reasonable amount.

My complaint was the $30 a year 'fee' tacked onto the special car tags. The initial fee to cover production of the tag is reasonable, a yearly gouge fee to allow you to keep it is not.

Don't forget that because it's a 'fee' in theory in exchange for a service, it is not tax deductible, so you will pay 6% Georgia income tax on that money as well as Federal tax at your normal level.

I'll be turning my tag in next year along with lots of other people I bet.

:clapping: :clapping: I will be turning in my three tags. This "FEE" is just stupid, the tag is already paid for........just don't get it !

  6. If you are student of history, you'll recog It replaced the 40 acres and a mule narrative that led to 30 years of dominance of the American scene in the period after the Civil War.

Actually, that was the narrative pushed by Karl Rove. Certainly there is blame enough to go around and it doesn't stop with those with a R following their name but we can see, even with a minority in both the house and Senate, the GOP can stop even needed, necessary spending such as an extension of unemployment benefits.

But it is obvious the GOP, taking direction from the political adviser Rove, pushed this narrative because the homes being built were in the suburbs and the suburbs are notoriously conservative Republican voters. Here is a blog post that explains that.

    So what's the deal?

Well in the 1950's, 60's, 70's, 80's and 90's when Democrats were pushing for things like expansion of the FHA and expanding funding to Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, the Republican's could be counted on to be the stingy Uncle who said, NO, NO, NO ... thus moderating the situation and keeping things from getting out of hand.

But when Rove saw the opportunity to engage the latinos' as GOP voters, he knew not only would he have to promote amnesty for them (and an easy path to citizenship) but also have them look to the GOP as their benefactors. Coupling that with the natural conservatism of the Latino bred into their culture by Catholicism, he saw and was predicting 50 years of Republican rule.

So, following Rove's advice, the brakes traditionally applied by the GOP over housing expansion, were removed and indeed, the big foot of both parties was put on the accelerator.

The result was the housing boom ... and resulting crash that is the cause of the economic meltdown.

And the reason was the Rove sought to have the GOP abandon its conservative fiscal policy to buy off and gain a loyal following of the Hispanic community at the ballot box.

One thing I've noticed the GOP is excellent at is condemning others for the things they've done. They operate on the theory if you say it was the other guy long enough, you can win the debate by tarring your opponent with your failures.
