    Bit my tongue during this last campaign for House Dist. 19 and did not engage the partisan hucksters,to defend my friend, Rep.Elect,Paulette Rakestraw Braddock. Paulette along with her family, friends and supporters endured a barrage of negative, hateful and ridiculous attacks during this mean season of campaigning. Many of them were allowed to be posted without merit, right here on this cyber-rag excuse for media, Pubby calls paulding.com. However, to her credit, she encouraged us all not to get in the mud with the rest of you, and for her sake, we refrained from comment and defense. However, the election is over now and thankfully, common sense prevailed,and she is going to be not only an historical Rep. for Paulding, (as the first woman to hold this seat), but a true leader who will fight for her constituents and bring conservative ideals to the House. Those who know her persoanlly, know a bright, funny, engaging lady who while not perfect, is simply...nice! It has been said that "into each life, a little rain must fall" and Paulette like us all, has had her share. However, most of us have not had our darkest hours plastered all over two-bit media sources, for the community to manipulate with half truths and to apply tortured analysis to. Yes, there has been rain but with Paulette's election, the sun will shine once more for Paulding. Thank you to those who endured the long lines to vote for my friend and for your future. :yahoo:

    I don't feel called to the carpet at all.

     

    I didn't make an excuse for molestation. I simply said there are times where a situation can be and is misunderstood. It doesn't apply to all cases. You guys just prosecute everyone without trying to think of the other side.

     

    I asked a question of the readers:

     

    Has anyone ever had to figure out when the time is right to change the way you show affection to your children or nieces/nephews? Did you ever feel awkward growing up with adults in your life as it was time to change the way they show affection to you? I did. I'm sure I'm not alone. Did that make them a molester? Probably not. Just that as we get older, kisses and stuff are no longer appropriate.

     

    Is it good to deal with it and bring it forward? Sure.

    Are all situations evil/guilty? No.

    Are all situations innoncent? No

     

    But we are not being logical in processing this if we don't realize that some situations are not child molestaton while other situations are. You should be open or refrain from commenting so negatively until you know.

     

    I too must leave this site. Sickening is a good word to describe it.

    I show affection to my children and nieces and nephews the same way now as I did when they were little. I hug and kiss and slobber all over them. Nobody's ever thought I was a child molester. How is showing affection as they get older not appropiate?

    While I understand that no "major" crimes have been committed in this instance, I called the police to file an incident report. I had this report filed because chances are, they will walk by my house again (since we are in close proximity to the high school) and may decide to escalate their dirty language into something else. Filing this report allows me to establish a pattern of their behavior so if they ever do something worse and criminal charges are pressed because they decided to (for example, damage to private property), my case will hold more weight in court. Basically, I made a quick decision to be smart and think ahead, just in case. I would like to thank those police officers as they were very polite, professional, and at my house within five minutes of me making that phone call.

     

    With that being said, my children should be able to play in their own yard without being harassed or feeling afraid of what someone 2 times plus their age may or may not do or say to them. We should not have to and will not hide inside of our home. And if that is the way those boys talk to a small child, there is a good chance there is has been a breakdown of parenting and communication between those teenagers and their parents. While those teens are responsible for their own behavior, they are minors and legally the parents are responsible for their sons' actions.

     

    Anyways, that's basically where I stand on the issue. And while I would never say I was a perfect teenager lol, I can safely say it never would have crossed my mind to speak so foully to a small child, ever, simply because I was raised better than that (and not by perfect parents either). It is a matter of common decency and if they haven't learned it at their age, there is a good chance they never will. But I do appreciate everyone weighing in on the topic and hopefully, my reply hasn't made me any "enemies" on paulding.com.

     

    And while you're at it, grab a camera and take good pictures the next time they walk by. Since it sounds like they were walking home from school it ought to be pretty easy. asswipes.

    what does a "retraction" mean anyway? It's already out there. Does he think that means everybody is gonna go "oh geez, she was wrong and didn't mean any of that. He IS an awesome guy. And he also doesn't call people names like a 4 year old"!

    I did this on purpose. Not one comment. It is my own personal proof that this is politically motivated. Nobody cares when someone is called a name, not to the extent seen here. While it isn't polite to do, and I am sure other people in the county share my opinion, it wasn't a big deal. DD is still a private citizen. He has not been elected to office and is not representing the county. I'm sure he will learn to bite his tongue after this. I am thinking of changing my username to "Molehill."

     

    What was said about DD wasn't just an opinion. A fact was stated in regards to him alledgedly not filing paperwork on time. That is a serious allegation. That is when DD responded to the accusations. If you read DD's remarks, he prefaced it by saying that he knew exactly who had posted the information because it was specific enough to not have just been a general comment of opinion. First amendment rights are wonderful, but you have a responsibility to use them wisely. Does DD have a case? I don't know and I'm not calling my favorite attorney in Marietta to find out because I don't care enough to get involved in someone else's personal legal matters. And I wouldn't want everyone involved in my personal legal matters. Is the letter DD sent a personal legal matter? Some would think so.

     

    You can be arrested and not be charged with any crime and still have the arrest record. Many employers don't differentiate between being arrested, being charged, or being convicted. I read on the state's website that you have to have the DA's office sign off on the expungement paperwork after law enforcement signs off on it. You have to wait five years after the arrest to have this process even started. Why does it take so long in Paulding county to get a paper signed when there were no charges issued?

     

    I wish I had real facts to help me decide how I will cast my vote. I wish I knew the real conviction rate in Paulding for jury trials. I wish I knew how many cases were Dead Dockets. I wish I knew how many people have been victims of crimes that were never brought to a resolution. I don't have that information, but I won't be using personal attacks to decide, either. I looked at both parties' websites. One is running on the good ole' boy platform (He is one of us) and one is more issues-based (how we do dead dockets [cases from 2007 and before that were still on the calendar], number of cases still needing to be tried [2250]).

     

    Either Paulding county is a cesspool of crime, or we have a problem with bringing cases to the courtroom.

     

     

    If he was able to read comments on an anonymous board and tell who it was because it was so specific then it sounds like there could be a bit of truth there.

    I would say why don't you talk about something you know something about but then I realized you know noithing.......Grow up and join the real world..You know the one where (real) people make mistakes because it's apparent to me you live in miss perfect world...You apparentlly are the one who would throw the first stone...Very quick to jump on the wagon to bash people.....You didn't state the facts....1. resantally divorced..2.never gets to spend time with his children.3.has to deal with a very needy ex-wife...Who looks stupid here you for posting this or Your best friend his ex-wife for staying married to him for so long ?     Innocent until proven guilty or should I just believe surepip's claims as true? What if he is the one speaking mistruths?

    I do not believe Beverly Cochran to be a Shearin stooge. If anyone would take the time to actually speak with her, you would know this.

     

     

    But what if he's not? Shouldn't he be innocent until proven guilty, too?

    Well..................... Using her supporters arguments for the past 13 years She has only been a Clerk doing menial jobs,Such as preparing the minutes etc.For the county commissioners. With no input with the decision making process of the commission.( though I seriously doubt she had no input on decisions that affected the citizens of Paulding County)A "Clerk" does not have enough credentials to properly run a County

    Adam Gregory was the past Chairman of the Paulding Couty Republican Party, I assume duly elected by his peers, And owns and runs a profitable business

     

    Todd Pownell Owns his own business,And Like Adam Gregory knows what it is like to meet a payroll, Proper use of their personnell etc, And both are also pillars of the community, And god fearing Christian men

     

    Both know what it means to have the lively hood of their employees in their hands.

     

    Look at the web sites, All three have one And you decide, I have no knowledge of either Todd or Adam being connected to the good ole boys network, that's enough for me

    Yeah, God love her. She's either a mere secretary or in cohoots with the devil. So what are the requirements to be a County Commissioner?
