  1. The orange Scented Tidy Cats made for Small Spaces is definately the way to go and so worth the $!!!

I agree! Clumbs great and the litter itself smells better.

We also like cat's pride except the texture is more like sand so the cats make more of a mess kick it.

  2. This actually hit the news about a month ago becuase Nebraska is getting hit with so many kids from surrounding states. When I saw it it was a 15 yr old from the state next to them. The law was originally designed for mothers who have newborns. Ya know, the type that leaves them whereever they give birth. They wanted the babies to be able to get medical help, obviously they didn't think about putting lots of nice legal language concerning age limits and location. While the original idea is great they definetly need to go rewrite it.

  3. Kennesaw will Honor Chat Tech classes, but not many of them and usually just the very basic ones. The general rule is tech colleges take alot of university credits and universities take very little tech college credits. You will have to send them a transcript and have them evaluate it. KSU does offer just online classes, but I believe you have to enroll and look at the avilable class schedules. They do have some hybrid courses as well, where it is one day a week in class and the rest online. I don't know of any one program that has ALL online classes though.

  4. I actually have to shoo my dogs off the deck, down the first flight of stairs then they stand on the landing so I have to go down about 4 more stairs to get them to go down the other flight of stairs and run back up only to turn around and see them standing at the back door right after I have closed it  I think I get more wet than they do.

Either that or they find some cover out in the yard and you have to go stand out in the rain calling for them.

  5. I have no problem when people state that they need to rehome thier animal due to allergies, and things like children being afraid of the animal. Its just different for me when people state they just don't have the time. Or even worse when people realize after a few months that they never should of gotten a dog in the first place. Some people are animal lovers but not meant to be pet owners. At the same time I am happy that they are trying to get better homes for that animal. I just wish people would think more before commiting themselves. I also think it being "easy" to rehome the animal is part of the problem. It doesn't matter if they get a dog they don't have the time for, or don't have the money for if they just pass it off quickly when they realize they don't want it anymore.

    BTW..what I said isn't aimed at anyone...more of a generalization.

  6. I've always been taught that using first person in a paper is a major no no. In my internship packet though it says that I need to share my experiences and previous conceptions. I asked my advisor about using first person and her response was that" APA doesn't allow for 1st person. I would try using 3rd peron and intergrating your own experiences in 1st person".

The paper has to be written in APA format....so can anyone explain or suggest how I can use 3rd and 1st person in my paper?

    Thanks.

This is the very LAST thing I have to do in order to graduate, so I'd like to not mess it up in anyway possible.

  7. I think you have taken it a bit to far, I watched an epidsode of houston animal cops and this lady had a bunch of animals and she was an older lady, she told the cops her animals come first, first for food first for everything, her house was a disaster from the dogs. She pretty much let the dogs eventually take over her life. She went hungry, and became very unhealthy, so unhealthy she needed medicine but couldnt afford it. But she could afford to take the dogs to the vet. Do you know what the cops did to that lady? They put her in a mental hospital.

There is quite a bit of difference in being a pet owner and a pet hoarder. Your example is of a hoarder, which can go along with mental disease. My house is clean, the animals are fed, and so are we. We might just live on sandwhiches and mac and cheese before my other paycheck comes in and I can buy things that actually make up meals. Clothes are needed but new ones aren't. I'd rather my dogs be fed then have a new wardrobe every year. Just as I'm sure people would rather make sure thier kid has a new pair of glasses or other needed items before they go out and get something new for themselves. That was my point.

As to everything else we are saying in this thread. I would hate to be bashed when trying to rehome an animal. I've been trying to find a home for my sister's dog, I've had to find rescues for my roommates dogs, and I've had to rehome my rats. The rats is was for thier safety, my roommates dogs were not getting the care they needed and neither is my sister's dog. But as much as I want animals to find homes easily I also think people should be held accountable for their actions. Maybe if people could realize that animals werent so easy to give away they would think more before owning one. While we should continue to help see if the dog can get a new home, I don't think a little guilt is a bad thing either.

  8. I was not bashing, just pointing out 2 different answers. Some ppl here put animals b4 ppl and that is something I will NEVER understand.

In my case...I like my animals more than most of the people I meet. They are my kids, and I will never be biologically having children. And yes, when we are low on money I buy the dog/cat food first. We can scrounge and be creative with whatever might be haunting the cabinets. They can't. I havn't been able to walk out a petsmart with a bill less than 100 bucks for two years, but i'm still wearing pants from 4 years ago that are now 2 almost 3 sizes to big for me. Its about what you love.

  9. Is this the same cocker that was posted not too long ago by the "sister of the owner?"

Either way...having a pet is a personal responsibility and how much time is devoted to said pet is a choice. You may be "sad" to let him go, but you have made the choice. You/your family could choose to discontinue another activity (like video games, etc) to devote more time to the pet. Again...a choice.

    :(

We love our cocker...a stray that was in horrible shape when we got her. I can only hope a worthy person will step forward to receive the love this poor baby has to offer.

No that was me. Brooke still hasn't found him a home yet. And yes she is still spending time with her new boyfriend and working and goes away for the weekend atleast once a month and leaves him crated for countless hours each day. My parents got him up to date on shots and are willing to pay to have him fixed. I haven't made another post about him becuase so many have been on here. Please don't use those quotations, all 3 of my dogs and 3 cats are all spayed/neurtered and up to date on shots. My turtle is happy and my guinea pig is getting fat. I prefer to try and not take offense when people mean well.

  10. I didn't want to hijack the child support thread. Its now up to three pages and I'm sure my post would get lost in there anyways.

But..I just wanted to say that there are some spectacular parents out there. Those that are single and work thier butts off to keep thier kids healthy and alive. Moms and Dads alike.

We have a friend who's ex husband told the judge to go ahead and put him in jail becuase he was not going to pay child support and he was not going to get a job. He gets put in jail, his mom comes and pays the 100 dollar bond and he is out again. He currently is on the run with a warrant on him. But during all this time he was allowed to see the kids except now the 13 yr old and the 4 yr old pitch fits and don't want to see him.

Last night on MTV they had a show on single parents. There was a 25 yr old guy raising five kids on his own. He and his ex had 1 set of twins and 1 set of triplets within 18 months. The mom apprently broke under the stress and become a druggie etc...and ran off and he made it clear she was no longer welcome in his home. I'm sure he has assistance from his parents and the goverment. But I can't even really deal with being around 1 kid much less five!!!! So there are some amazing parents out there...and I know men usually get the bad rap in these type of situations...so I'd just thought I'd share about this dad.

Its just nice to hear things like that.

  11. My friend jokingly said I have the devil inside....

I got hiccups last night for about 3 hours...then they stopped....then I got them again for two hours before bed.

Within 15 mins of waking up this morning I got them again for about 2 and half hours...

And I just got them again....

My chest is so sore I'm trying not to tear up when I hiccup. I've tried Zantc,Prilosec, carbination, plain water, holding my breath and drinking water upside down. Which by the way only ended with me getting water up my nose.

So I just wanted to saw OW outloud. Thanks.

  12. They sound like they are all great dogs. Like I said, I would go to a dog park and try Rayne on a leash and see how she/he does. Have you ever taken any of them into Pet Smart?

My parents did the same thing to me when I was 18. I had a shepherd husky mix and they would not let me take him when I moved. My dad would get in the shower stall with Rocky to bathe him, instead of just bathing him in the yard. That was the only dog they ever fell in love with. They lived on a cul-de-sac and he protected the neighborhood. He tried to chew up the neighbor's dog 3 times when the dog when do it's business on my parents lawn. They had to give him up and my mom cried for years after that and we could never mention his name. He was like their child.

We took her out when she was younger. Just not of late. It might be time to start working with her again. I worry about taking her places and her acting out in someway, I try to make pitties look as cuddly as possible.

  13. Thanks!! I wondered for a second if the numbers might have been the culprit. Changed it to 79 lbs.

What kind of dogs are Rayne, Journey, Autumn & Odin? Like their names by the way. Very orginial.

There is another story about Coco under the thread, Gotta love those little ankle bitters. I could probably write a book about her alone!!

Odin is a pitt mix- He was the first dog I ever adopted. When I adopted him I was living on my own. I had to move back in with my parents for about 3 months and when I went to move out again my parents wouldn't let me take him. They said he was the first dog they had ever fallen in love with and he was thier grandson. They canceled thier vacation and spent all that money on building him a fence. My mom spoils him rotten.

Journey- Is a cattle dog/aussie shepard mix

    Autumn- is a hound mix

Rayne- She was labeled as a cattle dog at the shelter but you could tell even at 6 weeks that she was a pitt bull. She is mostly pitt anyway, her markings have to come from a different breed. She is brindle but has some speckling and spotting like a cattle dog.

  14. Yea, I was just getting opinions becuase we have been discussing taking Rayne to a dog park. But really taking a closer look at her and Odin makes me rethink that.

Whats funny is that her main defense isn't biting, its sitting. She will try and get the other dog on the ground then she plops her butt on thier head. Its hilarious.

  15. We have three dogs. Journey( 10-11yrs) Autumn( 2) and Rayne(1). There is a definent pecking order, Journey rules the house, Rayne is a dominant herself but always gives way to Journey, and Autumn is so submissive that she rolls over to show her tummy if you look at her the wrong way.

We were dog sitting my parent's (my old dog- Odin). He is about 5 years old now and I considered him a dominant dog but not one that goes around pushing his weight around. We noticed last time that whenever Rayne and Odin played that Rayne stayed VERY stiff and stayed locked next to his body, mainly near his mouth. That lead me to believe she was trying to get into a dominance showdown. However, she kept leting Odin put his mouth around hers and over her head, and loom over ....and she was letting him. Becuase she was letting him do this it leans kinda towards the play direction. They did this the entire weekend.

The only thing I thought affecting it was that they were in a small enclosed room, when we take them to my parents house and let them out in the yard they don't have any problems and run and chase each other as normal.

Sooo...what are your opinions? Playing, fighting, dominance?

  16. Some one please clarify for me, am I reading that it was suggested to "fix" her while she was pregnant? That right there is just wrong! I am stepping out now as I don't want to argue but can't believe my eyes and ears.

It has to happen sometimes. My friend has a very small terrier mix dog that got pregnant by a much larger dog. The vet said the puppies would be to large to deliver them so they were aborted.
