  1. It works for me. You do have to type in your name and select your county.

You don't have to log in to view the amendments...

If you just go to the Secretary of State's website at http://www.sos.ga.gov/

and click on the Elections tab. Down on the left hand side of the page,

click on the " Proposed Constitutional Amendments and Statewide Referendums."

If you want a direct link to the PDF that it takes you to, click here: http://qual.sos.ga.gov/bltquest.pdf

  2. That is patently untrue. The gay soldiers sued the Army (government) and the courts ruled Don't ask, don't tell' unconstitutional... and the Army is actively recruiting gay folks now.

If you couldn't sue the federal government then the state of Georgia and other states would be SOL in regard their challenges of the Obamacare.

Just do a google search of "v. United States" (with quotes) and you'll note some 44,000,000 entries.

That's a whole lot of instances where the United States is in the defendant position for there to be absolute immunity, because the immunity the government enjoys is not absolute.

As far as the specifics of this case, if the SC chooses to grant the government immunity is this case then any US attorney can for virtually any reason (good or bad) have someone picked up as a material witness and torture and hold them indefinitely without so much as a crime having been committed.

    Why?

Well, because the person or persons in the government face no sanctions for doing so.

Heck, if this ruling becomes law, the criminal AG John Mitchell could have had Woodward and Bernstein picked up, tortured and held as material witnesses without charges until inauguration day 1977. BTW, that would suck.

    pubby

Sorry Pubby, what I stated is not patently wrong, it's absolute fact.

Did you not attend school? It's quite common knowledge.

What part of YOU can't sue the federal government doesn't make sense?

I didn't say STATES couldn't sue. States most definitely can sue.

Just to give you a piece of information, YOU are not the STATE.

And in the case of the gay soliders, what part of "if the government allows you too" didn't you understand?

Oh, and you do know that case has been brought to the appeals court and the ruling is currently suspended, right?

Nothing I stated was "patently untrue." You just chose to read something I didn't write.

If the Supreme Court, which is the FEDERAL GOVERNMENT, says they will hear the case,

they are giving you permission to sue. If they say they won't hear the case, you're SOL.

  3. I think making the Feds exempt from civil suits would be absolutely idiotic.

You don't have to "make" them immune, they already are.

The federal government cannot be sued unless one of two things occur.

First, the you must have the permission of the government agency that you are going to sue.

Otherwise, you can't. Sounds ridiculous, but it's true.

Second, the only other way you can file suit against the federal government is under the FTCA (Federal Tort Claims Act).

Then, you have to give a written claim to the agency that has caused the problem.

The agency may take up to six months to approve or deny your claim. Once denied and a period of six months have passed,

you can then file a suit in the US District Court. AND you must file within six months of the denial.

The FTCA only applies to federal government employees.

The suit is filed when the federal government has shown tortious negligence of its employees

and that negligence causes personal injury or property damage.

Otherwise, you can't sue the federal government.

  4. My God Madea! The lady has been arrested. Just because charges were dropped doesn't erase the fact that she was arrested. Willl you people vote for anything? More white trash that needs to be kicked to the curb.

So, she was arrested. Has she been convicted yet?

Last time I checked, this country was about "innocent until PROVEN guilty."

    Not the other way around.

Fact is both republicans and democrats suck.

There are some good and bad on each side, but most of them are in it for nothing but personal gain.

When are people going to wake up and start looking at the libertarian party,

who's goal is LESS government in our lives. Only the basic essentials that our founding

fathers wanted government to have. As long as Republicans and Democrats keep getting elected

nothing is going to change. My personal opinion is that about 95% of the people who vote either way

have no clue as to what their party actually stands for... if they did, they probably wouldn't be with them.

  5. i depend on my county government to maintain roads, educate my child (for 2 more years), and provide emergency services (police and fire). period.

i guess i'm just on of them country folk who remembers how to take care of myself and my own.

And by "Country Folk" you mean American people, right?

Seems like everyone wants the government, no matter on what scale (local, state, or federal) to take care of them.

I'm with you. I'm even willing to let them stop with the education... It's been proven that private schooling is far superior.

Other than that, keep the government out of my hair and let me do my own thing as long as it doesn't hurt or infringe on someone else.

  6.

Would it be to much to ask of our county departments to do a better job of updating information to the public??

Do you even know anything about the health department? You should educate yourself before speaking about something you know nothing about.

Well, you might want to educate yourself as well....

#1. The health department is NOT a county department. It's a state department.

The county has NO control or say so of what the health department does.

The county has NO employees that work at the health department.

It's called the "Paulding County Health Department" because of it's location. Not because of it's association to the county government.

...and the information on the counties website is SOLELY there for convenience of the citizens.

If the information is outdated, it is most likely because the STATE has not provided up to date information to the county

to be able to post to the website.

  7. It is actually both.

It is a land fill, but it's been filled, covered, and closed for additional dumping.

The trash is now transferred out... if I recall correctly, it's hauled to Buford, GA.

  8. Good grief... Where in the world has common sense gone these days?

People are just flat out stupid.

Who in their right mind would post that they are leaving their home for an extended period of time to MILLIONS of people on the internet?

    DUH! What an idiot.

  9. Actually that sticker means consealed weapon permit, meaning there might be one in the vehicle. Still think the guy is a jerk for parking there.

Actually, No, they don't mean there is a concealed weapon.

They mean just what everyone else said they mean.

It started out as a way for law enforcement officers to identify other law enforcement.

You used to only be able to buy these stickers at public safety supply houses and you

used to have to show your department identification to purchase them.

They sell ones just like it with a red stripe to indicate fire department, although they aren't as common.

As vehicles get sold without the stickers being removed before hand and everyone else trading stuff around,

it didn't take long until the law enforcement community just ignores them now.

Heck, I saw someone with a license plate version of the sticker. They do make license plate versions for the front.

This particular one I saw, after looking at it a little closer, was nothing more than a blank black tag with a piece of

blue duct tape across it to make it look like the "official" tag.

  10. I guess I have two questions.

Did you call the cops and report them?

Parking in a handicapped spot carries a pretty healthy fine (yes, the stripped zone in blue is part of the spot).

And why did you blot out their license plate?

  11. Unless it is properly retrofitted, this is a bad idea.

Yes, I know. Not saying that there are not reputable roofing companies, but many of them will do just enough to get it covered.

Layering a roof adds excess weight on to a roof.

Putting a metal roof over shingles is also a bad idea. The metal expands and contracts at a different rate than the underlying shingles.

The grit from the shingles will eventually wear the coating off the metal panels and it will rust.

I had to insist, that the guy who did our roof, remove the existing shingles.

They said that isn't necessary and that it would cost extra for them to do so.

I told them to take a hike and we'd find someone else then.... After a day passed, they called back

and said they would do it at no extra cost. :D

I'm pretty well verse in many trades... and it pi$$es me off to no end when I see people that I am paying

money to a job, not do it correctly.

And when I tell them I want it done a certain way, whether it's what they normally do or not, damn it, that's the way I want it done.

Just because THEY don't want to do the job the *right* way, no matter what the "industry standard" is, doesn't mean it shouldn't be done correctly.

  12. Also, do yourself a favor a walk around your house for places where these little buggers can breed. It only takes about two tablespoons of water for them to create a home. Make sure that your gutter ground plates are pointed the right way to release water, not hold it. A lot of people, including me, use the plastic black pipes that take your gutter water away from your home. These hold enough water to make little mosquito condos in them. Check for buckets, toys and anything else that may hold water. Stir your bird baths daily.

Go to a garden store and ask for flowers and plants that attract dragonflies and humming birds. These critters love to dine on mosquitoes. Willows and cattails near water are bad news. Their leaf litter are the perfect place to form a mosquito metropolis. Some small municipalities spray for mosquitoes, if they have it in their budget. I don't think Paulding County does; however, Dallas and Hiram may. That's what exterminators are for anyway.

It's that time of the year again. Bzzzzzz

I actually encourage mosquitoes to breed in my yard.

I keep a 55 gallon drum out at the corner of the house and I let it rain in it.... after a good rain, it has quite a good amount of water in it.

The mosquitoes get in their and do their thing... and in a week or so, there are all the little mosquito larvae in there swimming around.

...then I walk over and dump their asses out on the concrete in to the hot baking sun! :D

What the birds don't fly down and eat, the rest just shrivel up and die.

  13. I would get there early and just go to the counter and ask them if they can get you on the direct flight. If it isn't totally booked, my guess is that they will do it.

Not worth the extra money to change. Does the ticket that you bought have a cancellation/change fee? If not, buy tickets on the direct flight and cancel the original tickets. Make sure you put it on a credit card and if they don't credit your card then you can dispute it with the credit card company. They will know that you could only be on one plane at the time. I would give it a shot anyway . . . 5 hours wasted waiting on connection.

If they are discounted tickets and not full fare (which is very likely the case, most people don't buy full fare anymore) they

are non-refundable and you can't cancel them.

If you don't go, it's your loss. If you pay for a full fare ticket, they will accommodate you.

BTW, discounted tickets are ones that are bought through Orbitz, Travelocity, or other online booking agent.

...as stated though, it never hurts to ask.

Oh yeah, if you're a SkyMiles Gold medallion or higher member, they will likely accommodate you as well.

  14. I'm not sure of the durability of one vs. the other, but I do think you need to consider how it's going to look on your house. Metal on our brick house would look weird.

There are many different types and looks on metal roofs.

They are not all just the straight slat roofs.

They make metal roofs that look just like shakes, cedar planks, and even regular shingles.

We have a standard slat metal roof and pretty much love it.

The people who put it up... well, I'm can't say much for them as their installation was horrible.

A lot of roofing companies will put the metal roof directly over top of your shingles, if you let them... it's just that much less work for them.

I made the company that did mine take off the old shingles. That is just that much less stress on the roof of the house. Shingles are very heavy.

It's MUCH nicer to sleep under and we've had several hail storms and no problems.

Leaking... other than around the fasteners, it really can't, unless put up incorrectly.

All the panels over-lap and they don't deteriorate over time, like asphalt shingles.

If it's put up correctly, a metal roof will last a life time.

Expense. Yes, it's a lot more expensive than a good quality shingle.

You are the only one that can decide if it's worth it.

If you are only planning on being in the house another few years... probably not worth it.

If you're in your house from now on or 15-20 years, I think it's worth it.

  15. The way the Nitrogen is promoted is that the Nitrogen molecules are larger than the other molecules in air. So the nitrogen stays, so following their explanation, you would be at 95% give or take after a second fill... actually a little less.

Yeah, it doesn't really work that way.

Yes, it's true, nitrogen molecules are bigger... however, pressure leakage is not even measurable from the porosity of the tire.

The largest tire pressure leakage happen around the rim/bead and the valve in the stem.

  16. Yes, it really is a gimmick.... for street applications.

It being used in aircraft has nothing to do with it having moisture or not.

Nitrogen, just like regular air can contain moisture.

Moisture is filtered out in nitrogen at the pressure filling. You can get just as dry "air" from a compressor

    with an air dryer.

Nitrogen is used in aircraft for temperature stability.

If you put air in an aircraft, while it's in the air, the air temperature is colder than it is while on earth.

The higher in altitude you go, the colder it gets.

Running nitrogen in aircraft tires prevents the severe expansion and contraction of the tires due to drastic air temperature changes.

Nitrogen in street tires is a gimmick and actually can be WORSE for your vehicle than air.

Street tires are DESIGNED to be filled with air and brought up to their recommended pressure to support

the vehicle weight they are carrying at a given temperature (cold).

As you drive on your tires, they heat up from road friction and surface heating from the sun.

The pressure increases inside the tire to fall within a specification of heat ranges.

If you use nitrogen, your tires will NOT expand and contract, as they are designed to do, with temperature ranges..

Yes, this is GREAT for a race car.

Using nitrogen in a race car does NOT make it handle better.

What it does is give you a more stable environment for TUNING the suspension based on the track conditions you are running.

For instance, in drag racing, we run 36 inch tall 17 inch wide tires with only 5lbs of air pressure.

With regular air, we can fill up in the pits and the air pressure just from rolling the car to the staging lanes and sitting for 5 minutes,

while waiting to run, can easily increase the tire pressure to 7lbs. That is A BUNCH of a pressure difference in a race car tire.

Yes, two simple pounds that wouldn't affect your street tire hardly at all, will cause a drag racing tire to bite harder and

cause the car to drive HARD to the opposite side of where the high tire pressure is.

Even a 1/4 psi of pressure difference is enough to make the car go ape sh**.

Tire pressure in racing is VERY critical in some applications.

In drag racing and NASCAR, it's every bit as important as making more horsepower than the competitors.

Running nitrogen in our tires helps us leave the pits and go to the staging lanes and then on to the line

with the same pressure we left the pits with.

As stated, run regular old air and keep your tires inflated to the pressure recommendations of the vehicle they are on.

  17. PCSO is working on setting up an email broadcasting system for events like you are talking about.

Citizen's will be able to sign up with their email address to receive bulletins about events such as Amber alerts and other situations

and I think you'll be able to set it or it's set for a given area around your address.

It's not in place yet, that I'm aware of, but they are working on it.

Might want to PM Cpl Gurley, as he's the one spear-heading the operation.

He's been putting a lot of work in to getting this thing going and I'm sure he'll be happy to see people such

as yourself eager to use a tool like this...

  18. I have been fan of the Lone Ranger for years, I can still remember watching him on the good old b&w console when I was a just a kid.

As well as I. I got the DVD video collection and the old radio broadcasts on CD... I love listening and watching them over and over.

His call (Hi-ho Silver) has been spelled out several different ways over the last 75 years. Hi-yo was primarily in the comic books.

It was also called out that way on the TV show, by both John Hart and Clayton Moore (had the pleasure to meet him in 1986. Got an authentic silver bullet too!).

Sage did a fantastic job! She really is extremely talented.

No doubt about that. I wish I could draw half as well as she did that tattoo.

  19. Awesome! That's superb!

I didn't think anyone knew who The Lone Ranger was anymore.

Not to sound nit-picky, but if you'll take some constructive criticism,

he didn't have brown pants... he had blue, same as his shirt and he wore a red neckerchief.

None of that matters if the customer was happy though...

His call was "Hi-Yo Silver" and not "Hi-Ho"

No matter, you have an awesome talent! Great job!

The Lone Ranger is my childhood (and even adult) hero.

  20. I've seen plenty of tickets signed incorrectly or not signed at all and NOTHING happened different than if it had been signed. True, you COULD be arrested, but chances not, it's up to the officer and MOST won't arrest on a minor traffic offense unless you're a real smart a$$

Not signing a citation is being a smart ass.

It's printed right on the ticket and they verbally tell you, that you are not admitting to guilt and that it's just to show you received a copy of the citation.

There is no way an officer is going to issue you a citation and let you go without signing it or taking you in.

If he doesn't get you to sign it, he has absolutely no way of proving that he even pulled you over.

Your signature says you were there and you received a copy of the citation.

  21. not a thing... doesn't matter if you sign or not

    <<Buzz!>> Wrong answer.

Smokin is absolutely right. When you get a ticket, you have been arrested and released to yourself, basically.

If you refuse to sign it, they can and will most likely haul you're butt down to the jail and collect a nice sum of money from

you before they let you out.

  22. The EGR has nothing to do with CO.

EGR controls combustion chamber temperature and NOx goes high when it's not working.

It's a good likelihood that your engine will start pinging noticeably when the EGR fails to work.

Since you have an '87, that is an ODBI system and it's not very sophisticated.

When CO goes high, the causes can be a variety of things, but the first things I'd do are...

Check the air cleaner, make sure it's not plugged up. That will cause a rich condition.

Also check your plugs and make sure they are good and clean (light tan color) and gapped correctly.

Another thing is the life of your oil. Dirty oil can cause CO emissions to increase, slightly.

Simply changing the oil can reduce them... it doesn't much, but sometimes it can be enough to pass.

A bad O2 sensor is one of the primary causes of a rich condition on a fuel injected vehicle.

When an O2 sensor goes bad and falls out of spec, the ECM will go in to a fail safe mode and run a rich condition.

A rich condition won't physically harm the engine... if it went lean, it can cause damage.

  23. Chances are, you won't know the difference.

It's not yogurt like you snack on, like Yoplay or whatever that crap is called.

Most of the 'ice cream' type yogurts taste just like ice-cream.

Have you ever had a McDonald's milk shake, Sundae, or ice cream cone?

McDonald's has been using yogurt, instead of ice cream, since the late 80's.
